You know, GTP member Darin and I talked about this during an MSN Messenger conversation while GTP was upgrading to GTP6. I told him how I was playing Gran Turismo 1, and I noted that some of the menu music in GT1 was better than most menu music in other GT games. I mean, when you went to Honda/Acura, you were welcomed with a more natural, but upbeat tune. Nissan's theme was more of something you'd hear at the nightclub, that is, if you're into fast techno. It's still a good theme. TVR had probably the best music other than Honda/Acura. GT2 wasn't a serious disappointment in terms of menu music. I didn't really like the Car Wash, Go Race, and License menu musics. Gran Turismo 3 had the best License music because I think it's more of a "let's practice/improve your racing skills" music. GT3 had a nice song to it. I come to find out that the License music in GT3 is called "Concentration." GT3 had a good GT Auto song as well. Go Race music was best in GT1, with GT3 a close second. GT1's music theme had that "let's get ready" tone to it. To me, I don't mind the jazzy music. I think I'd appreciate jazz more because a lot of people probably wouldn't feel right with rock music all the time.
But, I don't mind the jazzy music. I think that if most of GT4's music was on GT1's techno, and made it sound better and more on par with WipeOut, Ridge Racer V, or Tekken Tag Tournament, it would be king in menu music for me. Well, you got a good topic. Let's see how others will reply to this.
I hope they put something similar to it in gt4. I can't wait.
