GT3...Drunk

Well I'll just add my $0.02...
I agree with AltF8, when he says that drinking and driving is totally unacceptable. There is evidence to suggest that some driver's performance is better in RL when they have had a small amount of alcohol, but then when you read the reports (and I have), these are the sort of people that would not pass a real driving test anyway.

My own personal standpoint is that if I know I have to drive in the next couple hours, I don't drink at all. But then I like to have lots of beer normally, so it's easier to have none rather than some.

People seem not to realise that they're controlling over a ton of hard stuff travelling quickly, and - certainly in the UK - pedestrians are so stupid that sometimes they deserve to be run over. But you just can't do it.

But this is all rather off-topic, which, in case someone needs reminding, is on GT3 drunk.

As for drunk GT3, the lack of control is frustrating. That's what Carmageddon's for :)

I was gonna win the race...but then I got high.

I was gonna get first place...but then I got high.

I was gonna lead the chase...but then I got high.

I got high
I got high
I got high

Dude, that's freaking histarical! People at work at looking at me funny cause I'm laughing so hard.

But seriously, drugs are bad ... see, mmmkay?

Playing GT3 while drunk only results in attempted donuts, cut chicanes, driving the wrong way round a track and crashing into oncoming cars.

Not that I'd know anything about such deplorable conduct...

Aw man, I've been doing all that while sober ... have I been cheating and didn't know it? (:

Well, I wouldn't call it cheating - more like dirty great drunken fun.

Girlfriend's walked in a couple of times to see me doubled up laughter watching replays of dreadful automobile accidents, all as a result of actions similar to above.:rotfl:

Vat, I agree with you about the drinking. I don't get totally wasted and drive, but I will pop open a beer in the car while I'm driving. Helps me focus and keep balance.

Got to be careful with that - in a lot of places it's not legal to have open alcohol in the car (for people in NSW in Australia, it is!). Mind you, I don't personally drink booze in the car. It's either very short suburban trips or long (9 hours+) interstate drives for my partner and I, and if I drank a beer or two on an interstate drive I'd be asleep inside half an hour.

I think the 0.05 Blood Alcohol Content limit's actually a pretty reliable guide for blokes (can't speak for the ladies) - two standard drinks in the first hour and then one an hour after that. You have a couple of beers to be sociable, but it doesn't affect judgement.

Tiredness is a big one people need to keep an eye out for.

Driving long distances regularly, I see it a lot. A classic example, and those of us with cruise control will recognise this, is the bozo droning along at about 80kmh in a 100kmh zone. You overtake at 110kmh (speedo reads a little high - honest) , and ten minutes later the bozo, having been woken by your overtaking, goes past at 125kmh. Half an hour later you catch him doing 80kmh again, having gone back to sleep.

The other one that annoys me (now that I'm on my soapbox) is boneheads realising you have cruise, and sitting up your arse at 110kmh - man I hate that, especially now I don't have rear foglights.

I hear that. Usually when I do it, I steer with my knee, shift with the right hand and drink the beer with my left and have a cigarette in my right.

I will hit the roads in an 1100hp 4WD with the biggest bullbars front and rear ever seen, and I will:
- run cars blocking the passing lane off the road
- run cars who cut me off the road
- run over cars who cut in front of me at roundabouts
- run over cars who scoot up the wrong lane and cut in front of me even though there's no room
- run over cars that turn right (left for the US) in no-right hand turn lanes
- run over cars that turn right (left for the US) either without indicating or indicating at the last second
- chase down and run off the road bonehead laneswappers
- run into cars reversing down expressways (I saw this last weekend by a woman who missed a turn-off and was trying to avoid a toll

Hell yeah, brother! Will you build me one of those vehicles? 😈

I hear you on the snoozing cruise controllers....that's why I'm kinda glad I've never had it...there's something about having to modulate the accelerator yourself that promotes...ahhh.....what's it called?......Oh yeah! Paying attention to what you're doing. I drive fast (usually ~80 mph on the highway) but I'm paying attention. And a cop would tell me I'M the hazard...not the dip**** who's half-asleep but trundling along at 60 mph. I don't buy it.

Was this topic combined with the "Playing GT3 While drunk or high?" topic? Cause I saw my reply to that topic in here, but I never replied to this topic:confused:
