I and a few others are getting similar times. I think 1:44 is the fast lap, not the average, which is probably a few seconds slower.

Thanks for the share of info...I'll try your "non tune" and see what happens...stage 3 limited down might be worth a try too...
The TPRA is good, before the holidays a few of the co-originators had some "artistic differences", and splintered off into another forum based group, which is much like what you guys are doing here except they have a dedicated TPRA-like web page with rules regs, and qualifying before the races to divide up the rooms into divisions by Qually times....The TPRA has gone for a less total simulation immersion, allowing driving lines, and hosting organized "arrive and drive" events using box stock cars from the suggested garages to try and level the playing field for newcomers...All in all, I could be racing 5-6 nights a week between them, the splinter cell .org, and your series here....I just love Ruf-Porsches and wish we had more variants and better handling ones stock...

Hey Franz, no problem. So Driversports.org is the splintered group, right?

There are plenty of series here with qualifying done in the same way, splitting groups up into divisions and it's a good idea as long as you have enough people interested. There are always two types of gamer out there, the casual ones and the serious ones. Nothing wrong with either, but maybe it's best to separate them as they have, so people know where they need to go for the kind of racing they're looking for.

This series here should be a fun one with a great car to drive, however, my experience of the other RUF variants (3400S excluded as I don't recall driving that) is that they are much more of a handful. The RGT is very solid and can be driven quite aggressively, whereas the others need a little more care! In my opinion, keeping this as a 1 make series is the way to go without having to figure out spec's to equalize cars, which will then probably make the same lap times, but in very different ways (mix of straight line speed, braking, cornering ability and tyre wear). This can make driving close to each other more difficult due to each cars different characteristics.

Post a room number if anyone is on tonight for a few laps, I might be able to join :)
 
Welsh will try your setup later :). (Mines fully tuned and limited btw)
 
Is that tune spring rate negative or positive??
 
How many use controller or wheel?
 
Springs can only be positive.

I use a G27 Wheel. :)
 
I'm using a wheel, but its an old Driving Force Pro. Looking to upgrade next month. Just cant decide which wheel to get. :confused:

I'm looking at that and the fanatec 911 wheels. Have no idea which one is better out of the 3 they have out. But then I hear their customer support is not the best.

Ja, Driversports.org is the spin off from TPRA... Basically started by Clacksman and Mr Forgetful, when apparently there was a rift between them and the other people that started the TPRA...It's a shame that politics even find their way into online motorsports as in real life, and the Moderator over at TPRA has taken pretty serious offense to anyone suggesting that everybody should try to get along....Anyway, I agree that one make racing with limited tuning variables is the way to go, and I just love everything Ruf and Porsche....When I was an early teenager, my grandparents took me to Germany for the summer of 1976, to visit my great Aunts and Uncles in Stuttgart....To my surprise, their home was in Zuffenhausen, 1.5 miles down the road from the Porsche plant....My Grampa and I walked down there atleast 2-3 times a week to look around as much as we could....I also became a Formula 1 fan that summer because I was over there when one Niki Lauda crashed heavily at the 'Ring and almost died....It was all over the news media over there for weeks, and I left for the states before he returned at Monza....I'm currently involved in Karting here on the East coast, and am going to be looking for an older air cooled 70's or 80's 911 in the next 2 years, as I made a resolution to myself that I would own and drive one of these great 911's that were made in my family's neighborhood by the time I reach 50years old....I'll keep you guys posted!

That's awesome!! Niki had a horrible crash. And what karting class are you in?
 
I run in a TAG based class that we've developed in our area ( NJ/NY) called the Formula 125....It's basically any kart chassis with a Parilla Leopard 125cc water cooled engine, and spec tyres...MG Yellow and MG Reds...Min. weight is 380lbs. kart and driver, and we utilized on board qualifying at our home track the past few years, because we didn't have an electronic beacon system set in place....I've got over 65 videos on my youtube channel...
if you want to check it out. Anyway, I play lots of GT5 in the off season to keep my mind into racing!

Glad you're brave enough to share your tune! I might try it out at some point, though I'm really bad at tuning.

Though clearly with times like that it isn't the tune that's driving the car 👍

Thanks guys, car feels good once you get it drifting a bit especially the last left hander at 'Shuto-Ko'. This car is a hoot to drive ;), but will understeer if you're not in the gas.

Nice vids there Franz. I nearly got into karting this year in Calgary, but it didn't happen. My background is 5 years of racing Formula 400 Motorbikes when I lived in the UK on board a Yamaha FZR400 sports bike. Really miss the real life racing, but GT5 is fun :D

Cool! My first Kart was a TrackMagic with a Rotax 125....They are fun to drive but tricky to tune/jet the carb....Have fun with the extra power!!!!

Quick question....Do we use Headsets/Mics during races or no? Just asking...

Ah yes an oversight on my part. I'd prefer no mics. That's how the ALMS series does it and I feel it makes sense, as those of us without headsets can't understand what the others are saying. So probably makes more sense to leave it text-based. I don't know if mics take up more bandwidth or not, but I think it's better not to allow them.

Is that alright with everyone?
 
No mics seems to be the way most go as it is believed to reduce the chance of lag in a room. Text chat is fine and at least there would be less distractions in the race too.

I was thinking 20 laps would be better, to ensure a pit stop has to be made and it still means the race will be finished by 10 EST. Not sure 15 laps on one set of tyres is possible or not but, pitting at 7/8 would mean that you wouldn't have to handle slightly worn tyres too much, which to me, is all part of the game. It's your call TT13, just my opinion.
 
Cool, text is good...Just a suggestion, (don't know if you already do this, but) you may want to use a text chat to invite everyone to your room, and then we can comm through that...It is easier than just using the room comm....Just a thought...

+1 for race with pit strategy....i need all the chance to catch up as I can get ;)
 
I'm alright with 20 laps but I'm not sure how to set up the text chat thing.

Also don't forget with traffic on a city track like this there will probably at least be one or two stops for repair.
 
Text chat is on the XMB of the PS3....It like an extra chat channel that you can use before you get to the room...
How do you normally gather? do we all just meet up in the hosts room at 9:00PM?
