Has anyone applied GT3 drifting knowledge to drifting in real life?

The closest thing for me is practicing the weight transfer on my XMOD's for drifting :) and playing with suspension hahaha!

I don't have a car good enough to drift, so I apply grip driving scenarios.

I've practiced drifting in an abandoned parking lot in one of these

Actually pretty fun with that '01 LS1 under the hood:lol:

no, the physics of GT3 arnt exaclty the same as Real life, and drive much more aggressivly in gt3 trying to get the best angle with speed. When i try to drift in my s14 or any other of the cars i currently own...theres so many factors i have to consider that arnt present in GT series. I rely on experience, skill and a full clear head to get faster, rather than "how did i do it in gt3 again?" If i could drift in real life like i drift in gt3....i should be winning D1GP every season.

I use my GT3 techniques when I go Go-Karting. GT3 does a good job of simulating drifting if you consider using non-sim tires, you can't really power over a go-kart unless the road is slick so I fient and trail brake when I ride the go-karts and my rear end slides out in real life as it would in gt3.

In my real life car, I own a Front Wheel drive so I'm pretty limited to ebraking, but the cars behavior when ebraking in the snow are very close to what happens in GT3. I've definately been able to control my car well from playing GT3.

BreakerOhio: I'm in the same boat! snow and ice can be fun when you work the e-brake and counter steer! I scared the mess out of my fiance` once. It was a trip!

Speaking of physics, no car in GT3 weighs 4700 lbs:lol:

Yes, that big ole Buick weighs more than most SUV's:lol:

It's real simple, swerve one way, then swerve the other real hard, and punch the gas. The car has so much mass on its side I almost feel like cheating when I drift it. The land yaht 'Dynaride' suspension tuning has a lot to do with it. It's also very funny seeing the look on the other guys' face when you're drifting a car normally reserved for cops (Roadmaster's bother Caprice) and old people:D

Swift: Snow and ice? That's the only way to drift a Honda 400EX:trouble:

real life simulator , its pretty close because i try it everytime i got go karting at the local Amusement park and people will be saying, what r u doin and plz don't do it again and be fair to the other racers, oh try to drift in a 94 tocoma on the road

I've never heard of Real Life Simulator... I thought it was an arcade machine... what I was talking about is almost as good as GT3, in terms of realism:dunce:

i kinda copied shadow drifter's door open thing...sorry for biting shadow =[
but no, i have never applied GT3 to real drifting. the drifting in GT3 is way too D1 status (even better), there's no way that ANYBODY in real life can drift like we can in GT3.

I HATE YOU!!!

Nah, nice pic, when my 240 finishes getting it's suspension overhaul, we'll find a chance to play around. That's right . . . overhaul, Blistien everthing, coil-over, electronic yaw-control, anti-sway, nasty nasty.

By next year. She'll be turboed.

But, all I need right now is my skill and suspension and I think we can hang.

Email me Prah, and let me know if you're free anytime this year for a little road trip. Or maybe, I can get enough leave built up to drive my happy arse overthere.

haha yeah for sure man, if you can get over here that'd be great, i'm trying not to put too many miles on my car =\

i'll be turbo by the end of the summer =]

I think he meant Real Driving Simulator, in which case you can find that on the introduction movie to GT2

hahah drifting in a little red wagon is way differnt.... theres more griping and lmore pushing.... but shifting the weight i guss is the same... but all the racing stuff works pritty good for wagon racing around the yard hhehe

Soft springs really help throw the back end around, dunno why you're using new (stiffer?) springs on that lil' 240.

Well, anyway, when I really get behind the wheel and start driving in places besides my own driveway and abandoned mall parking lots, I might buy one of those 240's. A mexican guy wants $450 for an '89. The problem: 194,000 miles on the odo, auto trans:irked:

The nice thing about the Buick though is that you can share your dirfting experience with up to 5 of your friends:lol:

Go Cusco. Seriously, I've driven on Tein HE's (garbage) and Tein RA's (decent), but these Cusco Zero2's I have on my S13 right now are the best coilovers I've driven on. The ammount of control I have over my ride (regardless of all the other rotted rubber in my suspension system) is amazing.

You live on the east coast right? I'm getting deployed to florida soon, maybe we could meet up and I'll let you scope floh's ride.

i like the HE's =\

sure cusco's cost more...and MAY be better...but iono man...i havent driven on them so i wouldnt know. HE's are nice though, i've driven my friend's S13 with HE's, and i like the feel ALOT. the car just doesnt roll, yet the ride is pretty good for every day driving.

what is the price tag on Zero2's? isnt it like 1900+? i can get HE's for 1100...so i'd rather save 800+ dollars and get a suspension i've driven on and trust =]

but hey, to each their own.

seito4counter: i live in the linda vista area of san diego. maybe we can meet up sometime when you're back from croatia. iono about drifting though...maybe at the stadium when they start up the drift events?

I got my Zero-2's for 1800 from Vivid Racing. Talk to Jacky, hes the man =)

HE's have wayyyy too much give in them. These Zero2's allow you to feel everything. My only regret is that I didnt get the inverted R's.
