GT3 vs. GT4 Graphics?

You kidding or something ? If you really doubt the graphics improvement over GT3, get yourself a copy of GT Prologue ( which is just a demo, I consider) because most of the videos are low quality , 30 fps compressed material. GT4 looks twice as good as the vids . If you ask me about the improvements I noticed I'd say :
1- Car models are a little more accurate and less jaggy than GT3.
2- Backgrounds are near to photorealism quality except few tracks.
3- Reflections off the cars look more believable.
And we haven't yet seen any new effects that PD might have in the bag.
By the way , welcome to GTP.

Graphicaly, GT4 looks like something built on the same system albeit 3 years later.

yup, perfect exsample is the VIPER GTS, if you look at GT3 and look at GT4P the rear wheelwells on the VIPER GTS are jagged and both cars look identical , but you also have to remember that GT4P is only a demo of GT4 at about 30% complete.

I say time and time again that Gran Turismo 4 will pick up where GT4 left off. I say this because while GT3 may have not been really complete, GT4 will really pick up in terms of graphics, features, cars, and most other stuff I can't bunch into a somewhat moderate reply. Something I say to myself (until now, right?) is that Gran Turismo 3 looks better than real life. I buy what PD says about its graphics, or as I quote:

"Photo-realistic graphics blur the line between game and reality" -from the Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec box

GT4 is going to be even more realistic looking. I guess you can say that GT4 is going to be double the graphic power of GT3. I love what I'm looking at from the pictures, and I don't think I've seen a subpar picture of GT4. You can throw in "Photo Mode" for extra credit. I can imagine playing GT4. I'm going to love the graphics. I don't know about you, but those are my views. Well, any more replies?

Vote one for GT4 graphics.

Well after watching the vid from SS Route 5 from GT4 prologue disc, i am amazed. It is still under construction but it is bloody amazing, the sunlight, every aspect of the sky gives the track a new feel, i love it.

They originally said the grphics werent going to be too much different from GT3 but they clearly are.

i played GTC and then GT4P strait after and the graphics have gotten alot better.

what you must do: the day you bring GT4 home put GT3 in your PS2 do a couple of laps and take it all in then put GT4 in for the first time and you will see a very big a clear differance.

Dont forget we will get to compare GT4:P with the BMW demo. Amar promissed us a video with both NY from Prologue and from this demo. And if I recall correctly he is supposed to come back from vacations TODAY!!!

Where are you Amar? We´re waiting here!!! :)

the first time i played gt4-prologue i thought the cars of gt-concept (not gt3) look better.
your opinion please...

possiby, athough a lot of it (due to cars not being totally photoreaistic) is down to opinions, and wether the viewer notices the poly count and general shape of the car or the textures applied to it more. The textures in gt4 will be vastly improved athough the poly-count may actually go down as they refine the cars to cut every last bit of inefficiancy from them. the ps2 isnt a bottomless pit of power and PD are performing a very skilled balancing act to get GT4 looking this good.

Yes, that was my first impression too!. And the surroundings loooking better than GTC in my opinion.

Come on people, why would GT4 have graphics worse than that of GT3? Has PD spent years doing nothing? And how can you possibly compare GT3 and GT4 when GT4 has not even arrived yet. I can see how it would be possible to compare it with Prolouge, but you can't expect that to have graphics and effects up to par with the final release.

I only did compare GT4P graphics with GTC/3! but...

...Yes, you are right, i also think that the graphics will be better in the final release. It would be stupid form PD to bring out GT4 with same graphical quality then GT4P.

I was not refering to you specifically, more of the thread in general. I have absolutely no problem with youe comment because it is a personal opinion based on two games that are already released.

Man, how about this, put in GT2 and then GT3, when I tried that I could hardly race...felt like I was drunk or something !

probably because u were :) its funny how i remember gt2 getting awards for its graphics when it looks like poop compared to gt3. and whats funny is back then i didnt notice tha game had so much popup!!> im looking foward to all the cool tracks that were in gt2 being in gt4. those were some amazing courses... simply amazing... 👍

Yeah I really hope they bring back that really small course, Motorsports land. That was a GREAT drift course. I'd always take my BMW 528i out to drift :) And Rome night, loved that too.

Anyone who knows me knows that GT2 lacked something very much. Execution. Execution of things like not being able to load or save from "My Home," not being able to race Rome Night in a regular race, and some things are kind of totally neglected with GT2. It's still a fun game, just that some things could have been improved.

And before someone makes a certain claim, GT3 DOES have reflective mapping. And I don't think that not being able to see cars on your side doesn't mean it's not reflective mapping. When you look at the cars really close in GT3, you kind of see some pixels from the design of the car. The detail is so close that you'll see the little pixels used to paint up and detail a car. Anyone who ever played Ridge Racer V and seen their cars in a nice closeup know what I'm talking about. But GT4's graphics will be the best ever in the series until GT5 comes along. I think GT4 will push the power of the PS2 more than GT3 did, if not much more. Newcomers to GT will be pleased with a wonderful clinic of how designing racing games should be, especially those wanting to be purely realistic. Veterans of the GT series will see what the past GTs have been through in order for GT4 to be the most visually-striking and ultimately realistic racing game in history. So I don't want to hear any rebellious complaints about "the graphics are good, but not as good as (another racing game). Yes, note I said "complaints" rather than "comments." PD worked too damn hard to make GT4 to be the most anticipated game that's on par with anticipation for Metal Gear Solid 3 and HALO 2. Compare GT2 to GT1. The comparison is that cars look slightly better and feature a few more polygons in car models, not to mention newer cars and car models. GT3 to GT2? No comparison. GT3 is just a seriously vivid game that will blow away any fan. And oh yeah, the sun in the sky? It's blinding and real. Only other blinding game with such a sun is "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" around sunrise and sunset.

And again, if you haven't already, vote one for GT4 Graphics.
