Race scheduled for Sunday. Details below in post 18.

Given the interest expressed in my other GT300 thread I would propose a set of rules for casual/impromptu GT300 races.

It will be easier if any car that meets the horsepower and weight limits is allowed.

If we use "GTPlanet GT300" in the room title then everyone (who has read this) will know what is and isn't allowed.

All are welcome. Clean racing is of course manditory. And clean language if headsets are used. Some people have kids in the room and are not using headsets.

Horsepower: 335
Weight: 1,000kg
Tires: Race Medium
Race Distance: ~20km
Damage: Light
ABS: Optional
Driving Line: Optional
Active Steering: Off
Traction Control: Optional
Skid Recovery Force: Off
Active Stability Management: Off

I would be interested, but my wireless internet broke so I wouldn't be able to race for a few weeks until I get a new router. You should post all the GT300 cars so that people know what they can use, and what tracks will be used. Personally, I think that only real-world tracks should be used, but that's just me.:p

Well I don't know for sure all the cars that will fit in the "Casual Gt300" class but here is a list of cars in my garage that fit. Obviously your horsepower will vary depending on miles and mods.

Premium Cars

Nissan SILVIA spec-R AERO (S15) RM......1000kg 325hp
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR RM.....1080kg 321hp
Autobacs ARTA Garaiya (SUPER GT)........1175kg 325hp
RE Amemiya AsparaDrink RX7 '06.............1100kg 311hp

Standard Cars

RE Amemiya AsparaDrink RX7 '04............1100kg 317hp
Honda S2000 LM Race Car....................1050kg 315hp
Spoon S2000 Race Car.........................1050kg 310hp
Amuse S2000 R1..................................
RenaultSport Clio Trophy Race Car..........1150kg 308hp
Toyota Wedssport Celica (JGTC)............1050kg 321hp
Mazda Mazda6 Touring Car...................1070kg 320hp
Autobacs Superautobacs MR-S (JGTC)....1125kg 315hp
Lexus IS200 GT1.................................1010kg 316hp
Subaru CUSCO DUNLOP IMPREZA............1100kg 325hp
(this car can go above 325 when the oil is changed if the miles are low)

There are obviously other cars that will qualify. And of course many street cars can be tuned to qualify (although I doubt many of them will be competitive). Feel free to add others to the list. Please include weight and horsepower numbers.

I'm forced to take back what I said about street cars being competitive. I just tuned up an NSX type R and ran some laps. I beat my previous best by a full second. The car was not as well behaved as the race cars but it's certainly fast. You can pick up the throttle much earlier due to the MR layout, so it really charges off the corners.
Personally, I think that only real-world tracks should be used, but that's just me.:p

I think all tracks have to be included, since this is a casual/impromptu series. Whoever wants to open a GT300 room can pick a track. I happen to love the Grand Valley track for GT300 cars. But that's just me. ;)

I have to admit I have really been struggling to find a decent GT300 race. I have found a couple of rooms online but once the room owner was driving backwards and crashing everybody else. (I'm not sure why he wasn't ghosted. That's obviously easy to do. They did it in Prologue after all.) The other time the room owner increased the hp to 400 after one race.

I tried starting my own GT300 rooms 4 or 5 times but NOBODY joins. I feel like my room is invisible...

I would just keep on trying, besides not everyone wakes up early and wants to race right away.
It will take a little while to start getting casual rooms occurring on a regular basis.
Just remember if you build it they will come....

I could be interested in something like this, it's just that I don't have a GT300 car at the moment, but i think I might have the cash to buy one of the premiums.

BTW: There is also a premium GT300 Impreza, just for the record. ;)

I have been doing this in the evenings mostly.

Yes I have bought a few more since I made that list. There is a lexus IS350 GT300 car too. I should update the list

If it's going to be a GT300 series, why allow other than GT300 cars?
I'm sure we could gather enough people to have a decent grid, but if we do allow all kind of cars this is just going to be another race, if we lock it to GT300 it's going to be more special and serious people will join and we can have weekly races.

I agree on that one. It will feel a bit more authentic.

s2k2k3: I don't have the funds to buy me a GT300 car right now, but I'll let you guys know once one has been purchased.

I am interested in running Gt300 races.

Let me know when a room is open. Cheers

Exactly..... I'd love to run some GT300 races.. but not if you allow anything else in.

Good news! I had a look through my garage and I found the Autobacs Superautobacs MR-S which I had bought a little while back. Completely forgot I had it... :dunce:

I do agree that a GT300 race should be GT300 cars. I'm just saying that it would be easier to allow any car that meets the requirements. The only way to prevent other cars which meet the rules would be to kick people out.

Obviously if we set up a regular event then it isn't "casual" any more and should be restricted to GT300 cars.

Hi i would be interested in joining, a RE Amemiya Asparadrink RX7 '06 has 336hp after an oil change & you will get the same effect with the other cars, it will workout expensive to keep buying new cars.

Since it meets your requirements, Im assuming I can run my Altezza Touring Car? If so, Ill definitely be on the lookout for your room, always looking for some good lower hp GT300/Touring Car action.

Just did an oil change on mine as a test. I had 312hp before the oil change, 327 after. The car has only 6 miles on it.

But it is a valid point that it will be a pain to deal with hp going over the limit with an oil change. So lets set the hp limit to 335. If we go 345 there will be alot of cars that can't compete because they will be too low hp with no upgrades but too high hp with upgraded turbo.

To get this going I suggest we do a casual race on Sunday at Suzuka, just as a get-together.

Suzuka - Sunday 12:00 Noon (EST)
Connect time 1h before, race start 12:00.

Will that work for everyone?

Suggested Rules

Distance: 20 laps
Tires: Racing Hard
HP: 345hp
Weight: 1000kg
Driving Line: Off
ABS: Optional
Active Steering: Off
Traction Control: Off
Skid Recovery Force: Off
Active Stability Management: Off
Damage: Light
Grip Reduction on Wet Track/Track Edge: Real
Boost: Off

After this we could discuss how the actual series would be formed with rules, tracks, cars etc.

I think the max HP have to be raised a little bit. I recently bought the GT300 Garaiya and after an oil change it put out a whopping 344bhp!
Have anybody else experienced such a big gain in hp on any other GT300 cars? A buddy of mine got the RX-7 and he got 327hp.
I might add that the garaiya seems to be slightly heavier than some of the other cars with its 1175kg.

I might be able to manage that time... A little later would be better for me.

But if the consensus is 12 then I will shuffle other things.

Not sure what car, but probably the Wedsport IS350.

Edit: And we should add - Boost: Off

The slow guys like me will just have to deal with the reality that we aren't as fast.
