I think that this person who wrote this preview, was drunk and made a mistake by putting the wrong disk in his Ps2, I think he just gave us a preview from Gran Turismo 2

???no way to turn off the traction control that we could find ?? :ouch:
???tracks in GT4 are not as smooth as previous games ?? :ouch:
???the wheel almost out of your hands at times ?? :ouch:
???500 cars ?? :ouch:

Yeah right :sly: go and write another preview of Gran Turismo 1

I don't really trust anything that GamePlanet reviews, the only reason I use their site is to check release dates.

To be fair, he did say "There was no way to turn off the traction control that we could find in GT4", so he probably didn't look too hard. Also, the tracks not being as smooth as previous GT games... since when is that a bad thing? A bit of realistic texturing is hardly likely to ruin the gaming experience, is it? If anything, it will enhance it. Real-life race tracks aren't as billiard-table smooth as they appear on tv. And, particularly with the 'Ring appearing in the game, this is a welcome addition. 👍

yep, totally agree on the road surfarce thing. I didn't think they would ever put in imperfections in the road then BAM! Drove the Ring and it blew my mind cuz I was expecting a smooth surface like the ones in GT3.

TCS can be turned off in the final retail release. Now stop complaining :p

Traction control cannot be disabled!!!!!!!!!!:grumpy: someone pleased crack this next year:)

GT4 is a simulation game and most of the cars on the road are not available with traction control.

I think PD made a good decision but if you are not happy, you can play with NFS.

It's like GTXLR said. The game was in Japanese and the guy probably just couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Judging from the intelligence of that preview I'm surprised he could even figure out how to select a car! 👎

Crappiest 'article' ever.

What does really scare me is the trust people put on PD.
The Calibra is still spelt wrong, their Quality Assurance makes me think people reading the menues and car description have no clue about the comlete matter and there will be several other minor mistakes in the game.

Or how about Europe's best selling car for years now, the Peugeot 206. They still haven't fixed the taillight error. That car doesn't have a whitish sheen on its lights in real life, so why don't they fix it?

Dodgy Camry's anyone...

Remember the Time trials in GT 3?
Given Car/Track combo, everyone in the world could choose if they like to use ASM or TCS or turn it completely off.
Except for those having the NTSC-US version, they had to drive with ASM & TCS on all the time.

What does really scare me is the trust people put on PD.

Having said that i admit i can´t wait to get it in my hands, and a week can be very long, next week that is.

The little spelling mistakes and hilarious pseudo-english in the menus are a part of GT in my mind. They're a big part of the atmosphere/feel of the game in my opinion.

Interestingly enough, you only 'spend' 50...
Well at least you can feel proud of getting a 100%... Oh, darn... :dunce:

the article sucks indeed.... ;)

I think by tracks not being as smooth he simply meant road surface bumps which were absent before GT4. GT3's tracks' road surfaces are smooth as billard tables.

I saw this preview when it was posted a week ago and thought it was rather pointless because of the articles inconclusive attitude towards anything. They don't go into much depth whatsoever so it was absolutely pointless to post but its ended up here anyway. Oh well.

has anyone seen a video of gameplay with what apears to be no tcs? ive seen some terrible drivers posting their videos from those 140 sec. test drives and a few seem to slide a bit outside of tcs limitations. ill try to post a video that exibits this.

You can get plenty sideways in the BMW demo, it's just a pity the BMW's in there are slower than an average family wagon : )

mabe you can't turn TCS OFF?!:)

edit: When I turned off TCS globally in the options menu in GT3 it never worked anyway. (Did it only work in Arcade mode?) To remove TCS and ASM, I always had to do it manually for each car.

That setting is for the cars that aren't in your garage. The "defaults" for lack of a better word. The cars in your garage actually require manual changes.
