I was looking up GT4 HP #s last night, for fully tuned cars.

Jeez everything is so much better tuning wise in GT4, the tuned HP are realistic and there are more tuning options, you can go for a NA tune or a turbo/supercharger tune and it is all just so much better.

2D in GT5 <600 HP
2D in GT4 >1000 HP

2J >1100 HP
R92, Minolta >1200 HP
All race cars >1000 Pretty Much.

Makes me not even want to play this game anymore. They really need to fix it.

My first gen ps3 was stolen a little before GT5 came out. Therefor i was never able to check this out. Yet, i always felt that what you just showed us was true. Sad, but true.

I really like the way race car tuning was handled on Forza 3 - you could remove the air-restrictor from the intake and maybe upgrade the clutch but that was about it...but it would seriously boost torque/power (as it should).

I didn't like the idea of putting NOS in an Audi R8 in GT4...

Yes more powerful, true. If its more realistic, i don't really know, you would need to do some research, on the real cars and there power, and if they can be even more powerful(for racecars). But in GT1 you could tune the GTo past 900bhp, in gt5....300?? Maybe a bit more?

The minolta and r92 both were capable of 1300 HP during qualifying.

the 2d and 2j are both big ass v8's and easily capable of 1000 hp.

many cars are just ****ed.

Perhaps they tried to implement some sort of cap to reflect the power level that are sustainable?
Just because a car can run that much power for qualifying doesn't mean they can run a full race like that.

that doesnt matter. it should be able to reach max power.

the 2d is a joke, only 500 hp out of that massive engine? are they retarded?

Well it arguably does matter, especially in light of your "it's more realistic" comment in the first post. It's fairly un-realistic to have an engine running at its absolute limit for an entire race if in reality it can only safely do that for a few laps.

Well, if it's unrealistic for a car to run super high Hp numbers for a whole race, then why not handle it like they handle low fuel in a car. If you're racing your car and it runs out of fuel, you limp back to the pits and refuel. In this case, maybe you could "blow" you engine and limp back to the pits. The race could end there and you would have to do an engine rebuild before you could race that car again. If they would have kept the qualifying feature, you could run max Hp for that and before the race starts, turn the wick down a little. Maybe I should make video games.

I honestly don't care if the engine explodes or not. Poppins just seems to be angry at the lack of "realism" and I provided a potential reason and counterpoint.

Realism is a poor argument when discussing GT5, for a number of reasons.

And yes, I'm aware of the irony of my current argument. I think that only makes the point more clear.

DIABOLICAL

Yeah, qualifying is desperately needed in GT5. But blowing engines, would just frustrate the hell out of the majority of players, this is trying to cater for a big demographic, not just hardcore racers.

It wouldnt blow the engine, they were built to run at MASSIVE HP levels and the Minolta and R92 were capable of 1200 HP easily.

Have you read the description on either of the cars IN GAME?

They are well known to have reached 1200 HP.

And the 2D should easily make 1000 hp.

Im just gonna buy GT4, this game ****in sucks.

For how long? A few qualifying laps? Oh wait it doesn't say there does it?

And how about relax a little? Do you get this agitated every time some one asks you to prove a claim you make?

Who cares what it says for HP, it's all the same. It's just a video game the race cars that are a few hundred HP less than u want are still good cars

Cool, enjoy. 👍

Seriously, if GT5 sucks and you like GT4 more, go play GT4.

why LOWER the HP the cars can get, to levels that are less realistic then what is possible in real life.

a 5.3 twin turbo v8 should push 1000 hp.

An explanation was suggested and you cast it aside as useless. You're obviously set in "knowing" it's crap, so either deal with it or go play GT4 instead.
No one here cares what game you play. Play the one you want. I really do mean that in the nicest way possible. There's no sense in playing a game you don't like.

Wah, I bet you need all that hp because you can't win a race without it. Dang an, un-modified Toyota Minolta without assists is a handful. Seems to me like it has plenty of power. Whine cause we can these days i guess.

I have no problem doing any of the races, thats another thing, they are all too easy.

**** this game has just gone so much downhill its not even funny.

Plus you cant say it has a big burly engine and it should have X amount of power, the ford model T had a 3.0L giving out 20hp and a top speed of 70km/h.

As technology changes the better the engines will become at giving most power for least fuel

1000HP would give alot of heat off so one little bit of debis blocking the air intake for cooling will kill the engine fast, not to mention the stress given to gearboxes and tires.

600HP is fine.

Players need to use skillto compensate for lower power.

Wow, this thread is mostly negatives with a few positives thrown in...let's just play the game as it is, and if they fix it later, then hurray!...if not then who cares! :sly:

What's the obsession with 1000+ hp cars? It's not like more power makes those racecars more fun to drive.

Tuning is highly overrated, unless you're just measurebating.
