NO B-Spec!
Arcade mode
Weight penalties, results-based
No Power changes
Any tyre combination allowed
Strong Tire Wear
Rev Limiter penalty system (same as rallies/missions)
Driving aids Optional
Points for race: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 (pre 2010 F1 scoring)
Try to keep at least 2 wheels on Tarmac/Rumble strips

Edit: In an attempt not to hurt my time again by not exploring other Pit options, [I don't mind being "Out-Driven" but I hate to be "Out-Pitted"], I tried three different strategies today. [Thankfully, all in the proper direction!] Two were remarkably close while one was way off the pace.

O.K. Got a rare Wednesday off work so ran this thing a number of times. Down to chipping off less than 1 second per race, so figure I'd found all the time I was going to.
Ran a test w/the BMW for granturismite, will send the results to him in a P.M.

I know I'm the new guy here & several you already know each other BUT I'm a little disappointed by the lack of "Chit Chat" amongst the racers. I'm curious to know how everyone else is driving. I have a homemade cockpit w/Logitec "Black" wheel [it's so old I've forgotten the model], a 23" flat screen monitor & Logitec 6 speaker system. How about the rest of you?

@ Blues Deluxe, Edit (as per my sig) I'm using a PSOne controller / dpad for this series (I hate pressure sensitive PS2 controllers); I have a G25 but I'm still getting familiar with using a wheel, so I'm definitely still quicker with the controller.

But I'm more interested in what tyre / pit strategies everyone is using for these races, because I keep getting thrashed.

Cool. I asked mainly because the Super GT series didn't allow you to use them. It's worth about a second a lap between using the yellow and not using it...

I'm gonna sayyy... Takata Dome NSX? Seems to be a strong running car so far!

I'm very interested to see how that BMW test turns out, Blues. Thanks for taking the time to try it out. And since you are asking, I'm using my trusty DS2 with a couch cockpit and a 32" hd widescreen. Component cables make a big difference in the GT4 world!

Taking a lesson from E RaK's approach last week, I tried three different pit strategies this time. Hard Tyres & NO stop, Medium Tyres & ONE stop & Soft Tyres & TWO stops. Two of them were within ONE Second at the end of the race & the other was well off the pace. I concentrated on the one I was most comfortable with & took off another 10-15 seconds before I hit MY limit. Try them all & see what works best for you & the ride you chose. If your pick is hard on tires, two stops may work best. If it's easy on tires then try not stopping.

I'm very interested to see how that BMW test turns out, Blues. Thanks for taking the time to try it out.

After 4-5 races I kind of hit the limit, [for Me anyhow], so decided to run a test. I set your former ride [BMW] up the same as my Opel [except only +1 on the weight] & ran a race. Across the board it's about 1 second per lap slower which is NOT a surprise since it weighs more & has less H.P. The pleasant [but not unexpected] surprise is that it handles WAY better! Most likely because the rear tyres wear first so you can still steer well the final few laps. [The Opel's fronts "Go-Away" first, so it's a "Handfull" towards the end.] Blues DeLuxe

Actually, I'm sure I ran R-1s [Super Hards] for the pit-free test. I was just referring to tyre selection in a general manner, as I'm sure it will vary from car to car. If memory serves, the Lister & Aussie Ford are REALLY tough on fronts, so they may not go the distance even on R-1s.

Managing tires is one of the more interesting aspects of these races. Often the races will "match" exactly two sets of tires but sometimes I end up running different tires at each pit. I like to use 100% of all the tires I use, not more, not less if I can.

In my opinion, this is one of the best tracks in the series. These cars have enough power to whip around a bit on the tighter turns.

well, I know that the BMW could do one stop on medium tyres, with agressive driving.

However, after a test run with the Mobile 1 NSX, it likes to eat rubber, so a new strategy must be formed

I couldn't agree more fogbound. 👍 I like to run them deep into Yellow, just before dark Orange if possible. Most of my fastest laps are recorded at this stage, as opposed to bright Green.

@ Blues Deluxe, I have a 60" plasma w/ full stereo & amp setup, double 18" woofers, studio speakers and I use a DS2 controller. I am not much of a gamer per se, but I enjoy GT, Enthusia & AC4 & 5. Those are about it for me.

We just got another foot of snow yesterday. It's about up to my knees.

My TV is junk, may be 20" and has about 300 DPI resolution (not really but it seems like it.) Track-side fencing becomes a weird glittery panel. I got my controller from a yard sale. I have been thinking about up-grading my system at some point but we are working toward existing off the power grid also. 'bit of a dilemma.

My cricket team needed to win today in order to make the semi-finals. We were playing the side that would have stolen our spot if we lost.

we batted first, and after a slow start, we amassed 179 from our 45 overs, and we bowled the other team out for 129. WE WON!! This will be the first time I have played in a semi final for over 6 years. I am ready for this!

Tried a couple of strategies this morning. first one i was planing on doing the hole race on R1's without stopping but this Lister eats its front tyres so i had to pit and change to R2's.

Second one i tried a bit different approach. I put R1's on the front and R2's on the rear. They wore fairly evenly but managed to get almost the same time as the first try.

@ Blues Deluxe: I use a DS2 and a 26 or 28 inch CRT TV. (Can't remember the size exactly)

The advantage of the controller is the ability to turn lock to lock so quickly gives it quick turn in and rapid opposite lock control, although it offers zero natural feel.

anyways, I am a quick bowler, usually opening the attack for my team. not express, but I can get the ball moving around, so that helps!

Also, I use the Sony DS2 for all my Gran Turismo needs, but I have never used a wheel in conjucntion with Gran Turismo (I had one before I saw the light of Polyphony Digital's creation, but it broke)

Guys, my appologise! But, I'm the hold-up for the results of this race in the series. I got the lap count wrong, in my rush to get my time in, I came up one lap short on my run, the sad part is I did the race three times LOL, I didn't realise it until granturismite questioned me on it.

I'll sit this one out if needs be, and see you guys on the next race in the series, making sure I get it right and my head right next round. (lol)

What a Bummer!!! I'm always doing testing at least one race in advance & understand how easy it would be to make a "Laps mistake." Good Luck!
