GT4 Randomiser!

actually i use easier ways than that, it's just randomize if then else

oh, I tought it would be:
randomize
numberofcar = 730
a = Rnd * numberofcar
Text1.Text = List1.List(int(a))


I don't know much about vb, but some hard way to fill up the list is by:
List1.AddItem ("subaru 360")
List1.AddItem ("honda jazz")

so
Text1.Text = List1.List(1)
will result
honda jazz

no i dont use list at all, only if then else randomize

actually, i'm gonna be honest

i think it has too much info, version, author and when i used it as an icon i couldnt make out "Randomiser"

it looks quiet similar as i want it though... i'll use it as a sketch for the icon 💡
 
I have not got the program, so what happens if somecar(if that is a word!)
is picked but can not get rally tires for a rally track?:odd:
 
Could you please upload it to a better host? So far i've spent 2 hours trying to download the file - the site keeps redirecting me to everything but the file, and when i try to register i just get "waiting for filefactory.com" for an hour with nothing...

And no, it's not my internet. Every other site runs fine, and i can still download at 3mb/s+.

You can attach file in your post kekke2000. As an example, here is how I attach your gt4rnd version 1.2.


It is very easy to do, don't take a lot of quota and easy to download, although this require you to have gtplanet account.

Are you using vb.net to create the program?

I guess it isn't hard to make this program, except for inserting the large amount of cars and tracks :)

A nice idea though.

im using old VB6, and yes it is very easy but takes many hours...

Keep learning, when you get more familiar with vb6, you can do it in less than an hour :). I prefer Delphi though, it's hard to beat sortable temporary table, put new temporary table component, edit the field, add a button, add event to transfer car list content from tmemo or file to temporary table, get the car number and track number from random number, filter the table according to request, display the car and the track, done :D.

yeah right... try to write down over 700 cars with power and weight in less than an hour, thats what takes time. didn't find any excel file or anything that were good enough for my version of GT4 anyway... my list are not perfect either...

Well, if you don't already have an excel file or text file that could be the problem. Car list that I attach before has weight and hp, pm me if you need it.

If you don't use somekind of container like Tmemo it would be hard. In situation like this I will write the correct line of code in the excel file first and use the exported text as source code. Just inserting column with "display_text = " or something.

If you really using 700 line of IF THEN ELSE, replace it with CASE OF. It would be easier to maintain.

i probably would if i knew how when i started... this is quiet easy to maintain though... i actually used your list but some car names were missing and others were wrong etc...

I see, I create that list by merging japanese list and NTSC list, I guess I do a couple of mistakes :ouch:. I never update the list, but I think I will start doing it now.
 
When i randomise some cars that come up in the randomiser dont excist (spelling) in my car list. And i know that its the right name, i got up mazda bp falken. but could not find it. Do i have to finnish the game to egt all cars to the list?

if you can drive it in GT Mode it should be in Arcade aswell... apart from some special cars...
 
This is really helpful, but it doesn't always seem random. Look what I got (keep in mind these happened right next to each other)
Subaru IMPREZA Rally Car '01 @ Beginner's Course Reverse (Driving Park)
Subaru IMPREZA Sport Wagon WRX STi Version VI (GF) '99 @ Motorland Reverse (Driving Park)
Maybe a coincidence, but a very coincidental coincidence if so. :dunce:

The random command I use is the simple RND from Visual Basic. So it should be random. Glad you like it :)
