Oh I have a Forza video and on the car select screen he rotates the view around and you can see the interior of the cars. He zooms in on the 360's interior and it looks PERFECT! Amazing job they did on the interiors in Forza, and GT4's are pretty good as well.

Well then 👍 for Forza.
But I wont see the interor of the car , I want to race them! 💡

CobraGT a question for you.

Where did you get the information that GT4 uses 300 parameters in its Physics engine.
The last interview i read close to this sort of information, Kazanori stated that Gt4s Engine could currently handle 30 calculations per frame, and he hoped that with the new PS3 that he would be able to increase this to 300 calculations per frame.

So if GT4 uses 300 parameters are they only calculatiing each one (in a set of 30) every 10 frames?
I wouldnt think, would you?

If you havea link to the source of this fantastic news that GT4 will be calculating 300 parameters per frame, i would gladly like to see it. Please!

I'm not sure that's quite right...

I thought that at present he said it was 30 calculations per second.

So 1 calc per full frame (odds/evens).

But each Calc would contain all 300 parameters.

So therefore with PS3 it would be 300 Calcs per second. which would be 300/30 = 10 calcs per frame.

Id still like to Know where he got that info from, and if he has a source.

300 parameters is quite a lot of information to crunch per cycle, and is quite an in-depth model, especially when it would have to do all that for all six cars.

Yeah thats defs a fair point actually... my post was more about correcting your bit and actually ignored the question that you posed!!

@CobraGT... where did you get the info about 300 Parameters?

Hey iceburns288, could you please provide a link to that video? It'd be great, thanks..
And BTW, whats the heighest number of PAGE COUNT on a single topic here at GTP?
Does anyone know the Record, this thread is going to have to beat.! :p ?

"Kazunori: Let's take the category of car physics: currently in GT4 on the PS2, the calculations for car physics are done sixty times a second, the same as the framerate. But with the next generation coming and higher specifications, we think this could change to 300 times per second or even 600 times per second. "

"Each course was created using anywhere from 20,000 to 30,000 still photos; each car uses 300 parameters, 150-200 reference photos, and a core professional database to measure real life racing times versus their own AI racing completion times."

Thx you zero, I didn't feel like looking for the sites that mentioned the parameters. That is alot of info put into the cars and that's one reason I stick up for gt4's physics. Gt4 might very well have the accuracy level that is equivalent to sports driving in real life.

^^that's great and all, but does it simulate the tire pressure? heat of the track vs heat of the tires? vs even heat of the day? does it simulate actual torque, when you race with an "upgraded" car? Now, tell me what game does all this AND with 16 cars on the track at once. C'mon, you can say it...it wont kill you.

Cobra, please man, stop acting as if Gt4 will be just like driving a real car. Multi thousand pound simulators can't do it, what makes you think a ps2 can?

"duhhh huh, becoz of da wheel, and PS are SOOooooOO skillz"

So, when you played Forza, how did it feel? Is it better than GT3? How the car handles after the tire heats? What tire pressures did you use and what changed between the two? What upgrades did you make? Is the AI good? And how detailed is the damage level?

GTR? Well with 300 parameters, such factors of driving will be in, like friction, power, speed, wind, weight, etc and the factors that come with them. I believe I heard of gt4 doing tire pressure but I dont know if it's true.

I wasnt talking about GTR, neither were you. GT4 isn't doing tire pressure, heat, wind, friction, any of that sh&t. The PS2 just can't handle all of that and keep it looking as good as it does. And I'm NOT saying that it's a bad game, but it isn't what you say it is.

Each car includes 300 parameters such as weight, speed, friction and wind which affect performance in Polyphony's bespoke physics engine.

:sly: forza has 16 cars on track? Can you confirm this visually for me?

That preview is so old that it says there are 500 cars and online mode.....

edit: cobra you're right, it is NOT confirmed that there will be 16 cars on the track at once, but at least i can admit it, unlike you and the cliff bull$#!t 👎

and take a looksie at this: How can you not say that looks better than GT4?

I think it looks less realistic, but in terms of sharpness and detail, it pretty much pounds GT4 in to a pulp. Then pees on it. And laughs. OFC I'm not saying Gt4 looks bad (it looks brilliant), but...well more detail and sharper textures are more detail and sharper textures. Especially on the cars, on GT4p i noticed alot of colour grading, pale colours, and pixelated textures.

Loverly bump mapped road :)

Easily, gt4 looks alot more realistic and natural and runs smoother. Realistic visuals>forza's visuals

By your logic operation flash point looks better then doom 3 cobra...

Cobra, being an owner of PGR and GT4p, I can tell ya that forza really doesn't look like PGR. Sorry.

cobragt
O and btw, even enthusia looks better than forza, why you ask...........looks way more realistic. forza looks like another pgr

personally, I thought PGR2 was stunning. More breathtaking than GT3. Especially the architecture and textures.

So...that's not a bad thing.

Of course, GT4 looks even NICER.

These are good times.

PGR2 was ridiculously pretty at times, like when you take the f40 under the sydney harbour bridge...oh my. They even did the other side of sydney in 3d!!! You could see the water rippling, boats going over it, birds in the sky, and ofc the bridge it self, MASSIVE. Oh and the f40...drool.

OH yeah, RF2 PWNS doom 3 rofl rofl ;)

And another BTW: Doom 3 looked so god damned unrealistic, god, the game MUST be **** then. I'll take red faction II over that game ANY day.
Yes doom3 looks unrealistic but damn it looks amazing, forza doesn't so dont try and use doom3 to make your point.
