Just remember, guys and girls, there's roughly four months left to go before GT4 hits the shelves (Forza, I think, has been pushed back to early 2005, which raises a few question of my own over why it's decided to wait until NEXT year to come out instead of coming out at roughly the SAME TIME as GT4, but, oh well). There is still A LOT of stuff we do not know about EITHER two games at this point (and GT4 info has dried up quite a bit lately, probably to keep Forza from ripping off TOO many ideas, and vice versa for why info on Forza has dried up quite a bit), and it'll likely stay that way until just weeks before their release. So until then, I will continue to state my honest opinion on both games (of course, I'll still be more for GT4), and once they both come out, and after I've played through BOTH thoroughly, I'll be stating my honest opinion on which one is the REAL driving simulator.

Points in bold are ones I added

+ Well established
+ Amazing Graphics
+ Amazing Physics
+ Scenery (3D people in rally, in pits, crowd)
+ Photo Mode
+ 50+ tracks Plus many with reverse option
+ Car Museum
+ The Logitech DFP
+ Force Feedback (Sorry forgot to add this)
+ 500 Car's
+ Oil changes
+ Fuel
+ More than 100 rims to choose from
+ Cars wash. Your car gets dirty, you get to clean it
+ Drift competitions
+ Ultra deep sim mode
+ License tests
+ Awesome replays
+ Great soundtrack
- Only 6 cars on track

- Online play is not as established as the Xbox (Netcode not as good as XBox)
- No Damage
- No Interiors (Possible Minimal Interiors)
- No Flipping Cars ( For 'the ultimate driving simulation' pretty unrealistic )This should fall under damage but I will leave it alone
- No Skidmarks
- No Ferrari & Porsche & Lamborghini
- No reverse lights
- Some of the car's look blurred (possibe just bad screen shots) and yes it's the car in focus
- The AI runs on tracks ( make's the AI predictable)

Forza

+ XBox Live is more established than the PS2 alternitive
+ Amazing Graphics
+ Amazing Physics
+ Damage
+ Scenery
+ Flipping Car's Once again this should fall under damage but I wont touch it
+ Ferrari & Porsche ( Lamborghini Probably ) I have my reasons for beiliving Lamborghini will be in Forza
+ Reverse Lights (lol)
+ You actually leave rubber down during an entire race to create a racing line and where you skided off (slow down next time you see that )
+ Drivetrain AI (The AI learns and doe's not run on tracks)
+ 16 cars on track
- Not well established

- No Logitech DFP (unsure the XBox doe's have USB)
- Force Feedback (no one is very clear on this Xbox is appreantly a ***** to program for)
- Graphics not as real looking as GT4
- So far all the racing games on XBOX seem to be jam packed with cheaters who dominate the time trials and people intent on ruining your race. No solution to this problem has made it to any xbox live racer

Im sure there is more. I will update later

im also hoping to see the many variations of the mclaren, including the stock mclaren and a few other racing variations, not just the one GT features. So far, i like how forza looks, for some reason it doesnt have that impression that GT leaves, like when we first saw the screenshots of GT 3 in the rain.

I added some stuff I felt was missing heh.

You dont know if ferrari, porsche and lambo wont be in. Last month at a Nurb there was a test session for cars and a old porsche was included in the testing and a fan there talked to Kaz and he hinted porsche and ferrari being in but gt4 being released late for the Rights of porsche(EA) and ferrari(Sega) to be up. Yes, sega has the ferrari rights I believe because their new racer, out run has loads of ferraris in it.

I have alot of confidence in PD that they will ty their hardest to get these cars in GT4.....KY knows that they are part of automotive history and he will fight for them! I think is main aim would be to eventually get every manufacturer in the world in......maybe in future titles........

Hello everyone at GTPlanet, I may seem new here, but I've been at GTPlanet since ages (as a non-member, reading posts ;-) ..
Anyway, I dont know if this point has been raised before, but.. What If..
They delay the release of the game, say for like a couple of months (in 2005), and may be they include Ferraris / Porsches / Lambos (etc.. ). Would the Fans get dissappointed that the release dates been further pushed or would they be GLAD that these cars have been added?
I cant wait for this game to be out myself, but I think I can wait for a few more months if they promise to include few more Manufacturers especially Ferrari/Porsche and Lambo..
Just wanted to know.

Welcome h3ro, you are a big xb fan for anyone's info. H3ro, anyone can tell you dont know of gt4 by the way you are doing your comparsion. GT4 will have the tuner's world, not called the village anymore and there will be tune shops. Meaning sections basically, like engine parts, and so on. For all we know, there can be more performance parts in gt4 than forza. I remember in gamepro, gt4 preview with a Kaz interview. He said he wants to educate people on how to tune a car. Sounds very deep to me.

november is when the EA licence expires apparently, i would think PD know wether or not they will get it after this by now and therefore will either be knocking out different P+F's af fast as they can or wont be. all we have heard is hints to wether or not P+F will be in, this could be for 2 reasons i can think of right now: -

1) there not, this would be bad obviously. but PD dont want to give it away untill the same time they tell us all the stuff that WILL be in, to minimize the effect.

2) they are, but possibly due to legal constraints or just wanting to watch us suffer :dopey: they arent letting us know just yet.

i think that the companies don't actually get exclusive rights to the licenses do they? I think they are very expensive licenses though, which could discern a company from spending on the license. I mean we have seen the Ferraris appear in Project Gotham 1 and 2, Need For Speed series, Ferrari F355 challenge and Outrun 2 for the sega side and who knows what more.

But if what cobragt said is true, about KY saying that they wll wait for the licenses to expire, then maybe there is some kind of exclusivity to this. maybe the companies dont want Polyphony to have those kind of cars since their games wont have that feeling of awe anymore, since Polyphony will have recreated them to perfection.

just my 2 cents tho :dunce:

I actually wouldnt mind to see this game delayed until early 2005 to be able to play these european exotics, and have a very polished online mode. We will have many other games to entertain us through the holiday season anyways.

Hell yeah I would love to thrash a 360 CS, GT3RS and Gallardo around a track. Proper track cars (well maybe not the Gallardo but it keeps up well caus eof it's 4wd). The Lambo licence is available though as their is some crazy wipeout with Lambo's coming out end of this year. What a fecking waste of a licence. :(

exclusive liscences are a thing of the past now. the gameing market isnt something silly that manufacurers can ignore. so there SHOUDLDNT be a problem with pd getting a piece of the pie. my moneys on P+F being in. simply cause i cant see a good reason for them not to be especially with KY's recent comments

Wha? Yes I am a big Xbox fan, Im also a big GT fan. GT4 is the sole purpose I own a PS2.

You are dumb Cobra, good job judging me on the way I added to the list. Good for you. Can you enlighten me as to how you came to the conclusion that I "dont know of GT4" by the way I added to the comparison? Hmmmm?

Exclusive licenses are out there now and there used to be loads of them. EA owned exclusive rights to Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborgini, McLaren and more, I think they still have all of thoes but the Lambo license now. The reason they've appeard in no EA games like PGR is because Microsoft paid EA a stupid ammount of cash to allow them to and at the same time paid a second ammount to the licence provider such as Ferrari and Porsche in PGR's case. EA were never going to come to any agreement with PD since PD killed off the NFS series as we knew it, now it's only way forward it the underground street racing route.

And Cobra what a way to welcome a new member eh. Don't start another flame war by jumping on anyone that praises anything non-Sony or PS2. h3ro welcome to GTP, also please don't retaliate I know it's hard hell I retaliate far too much myself, but I know I shouldn't and I'm trying hard not to bt also no one else should either. Anyhow welcom to GTP and have a good time here.

OMG I missed that. How sad is that, honestly. Sorry Earth but come on and smell the salt, thats bad.

On another note does anyone have any links to this interview with KY where he hints at Ferrari and Porsche in GT4.

How sad is it that you can have a thread reaching 62 pages when you know sod all about either game apart from a few screenshots and good old PR spin.

Just buy both games. The consoles are dirt cheap for gods sake.

It's called GT universe, not frigging Ultra deep sim mode.

kinigitt
I see. A game's faults add character. That is why GT is the best. It's not because of all the good things, but the BAD things that make it so fun to play.

That is probably the worst argument in the entire thread. Worse than Jaguar's "engine swaps are teh stoopid" rant.

Try to remain objective, I know it's hard, but it's a part of being a sensible human being.

QUOTE]

Get a ******* life and stop taking peoples quotes out of context. The 'engine swaps' rant was about FORZA fanboys being more interested in PR bull**** and gimicky crap than the core game. Oh sorry, some sad idiots swap engines in their NOVAS so that makes it an essential part of a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't suppose its gone unnoticed by the majority that the Forza theads/arguments are being generated by a bunch of fanboys slagging off everyone else, if they so dare to question the PR bull**** spouted out by ALL development houses.

Very few have even played a demo of Forza yet the fanboys are proclaiming it as the next great hope, much as happened to PGR2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
