I know one thing and that is Konami dones not make bad games!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Power Of Chaos - Yugi The Destiny

Last great game they made IMO was castlevania SOTN. A work of art. IMO one of the best games ever made.

Seriously, if you think there havn't been games to rival GT, then thats because you didn't play any others.

I hate all of these damn 30 fps defense threads. 30fps for racing sucks. 30fps for any games sucks. I can tell the difference. If you cant then you are retarded. something is wrong with you.

I dont care if Forza has the most features, etc.. but 30fps sucks ass. I saw the video on xplay and its sucks. bland textures, reflections on the cars, and the 30fps is apparent, and to me it looks bad. I dont fall for that techno babble about 180fps. bullcrap. just bullcrap.

Kinigitt, I never inferred you said 30 was BETTER than 60 (duh as if). However you did say there was NO difference in real terms, which was silly.

I bet I can make you play a 30 FPS game making you believe it was 60 FPS. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference

I was simply highlighting the very real reasons why devs want their games to run at 60. This concept is so mind meltingly basic I just don't know how you don't get it.

The frame rate stutters in PGR2 are real at least on my XBOX (old launch model), and only in the REPLAYS as mentioned as I made sure to specify in my original post about it. I do like peanut butter sandwiches however. I don't however want to be drawn into a juvenile flame war with you, as it would be nasty, resulting in me winning, and then being banned.

Hey Code, if you've spent much time in Sydney (I assume not), you'll be laughing at the PGR2 layout of that city as much as me. Also I was soo pissed you don't ever drive over the damn bridge! That game has really varied quality in the graphics, sometimes really bland and flat- other times, real pretty. PGR2 is a fine game, and one that doesn't have subtle enough physics to worry about the 30fps too much. But then Burnout2/3 came out at 60fps and smoked it real hard. :)

30 FPS LOCKED is better then 60 FPS not locked. then you will notice slowdown and sluggish framerate. I didn't like PGR2 gameplay but you can't tell by looking at it that it is only 30 FPS. I guess something must be wrong with me...

Sure.

GPL on the pc is a GEM.
GTR racing on the pc is pretty damn hardcore also.
Live for Speed.
Toca RD2.
PGR2 while arcadey, is damn good fun.
RSC2 is plain superb.
Burnout 2 and 3

All I can think off tbh.

BO3 is great, but doesn't have even 1/3 of the detail that PGr2 does. PGR2 does have some graphic problems, some dodgy AA, textures that blur at times etc, but holy crap, at times it looks so bloody realistic.

Also I was soo pissed you don't ever drive over the damn bridge!

*nod* a shame cause it looked freaking great.

dont tell me what I can see and what I cant. I can tell immediately if ANY game is running at 30 and 60. I have been playing games for a VERY long time. So cut the crap. GT3 ran at a consistent 60fps. and GT4 does too. thats all I care about.

60fps constant > 30fps constant

Well, I think that input fields per second is as important and frames per second. Especially in a driving sim. Just my thought.

To John BMW or whatever, about the G4TV article/show...

PLEASE for the love of god don't watch that channel. It blows. And, I know I sound like a broken record, but they also know little about driving simulators. I'm not trying to knock every news source out there, as they are pretty good reporters, etc. However, they do not play many games and are not very diverse. Sometimes I wonder if they even PLAY driving simulators.

Anyway, G4TV is extremely biased towards Microsoft Products, as far as xbox games go.

Again, just to clarify, because people would take this post the wrong way.

Forza=Awesome Game.

I would like to say none of these games except GTR are super hardcore as its the only one I can't be competitive at racing using the keyboard!!!:)

These are the only real sim-type games that could be directly compared to Gran Turismo. In terms of content and polish etc, gameplay structure blah blah blah the game overall, yes F1king is actually right in that sense that nothing has really challenged GT as a mainstream competitor (better physics & SELLS more...) I think thats what he meant. GT just dominates the genre overall. Its certainly not hardcore however. Which is nice, cause I'm not feeling very hardcore at the moment. Very tired.. I stay up so late in Australia to talk to you guys!!

Why do we even have this post in here (GT vs FORZA) we dont know anything about FORZA yet, or very little if any. I realy do hope that FORZA does make a few waves when it comes out because no matter what anyone says as of GT1 there has been anything even close to competing with GT NOTHING! and Im talking about racing not NFS or Midnight club or any other lame ass driving game out there, the only one I even have respect for is TOCA but that falls short as well. But since we are talking about game vs game there is a game out there I havnt heard anyone talk about here and I think its going to be a big time sleeper (Enthusia Professional Racing) I know one thing and that is Konami dones not make bad games!

I totally agree with you. Well, almost. The only think is that, for me, the confirmation that Forza is 30 FPS was a big letdown and, as I said before, a deal breaker. I'm pretty sure now that, for me, Forza won't be a viable alternative to GT4. I'm not talking about sales or mass success or anything related. Just about quality driving. There is absolutely no way for me to go back, eight years later, to the framerate of the original Gran Turismo on the PSX. No way.

I sincerely hope that Enthusia becomes the real challenger... Oh, and I loved TOCA too!

You rule imageshack.

gawd these images make it look crap, but meh, should give you an idea about what I mean. Amazing how my digi cam makes all the shine and detail vanish XD

http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2003/xbox/projectgothamracing2/0926/gotham_screen025.jpg possibly the biggest waste of polys ever...

I guess when you half the frame rate, stuff like this is much easier :)

As a main stream sim competitor, nothing has touched GT, your right.

Tha_con knows as he's uber enough to get lots of cool stuff like preview discs etc, lucky git.

I agree with you. 30 FPS regardless of the other features of the racing game is a big turn off for me.

Looks real purty Code. It sure looks better in stills than at 30fps! (haha) Those pics would make me really excited if they were for a sim game, as it'd have the physics to justify the awesomeness of the scene... It annoys me when a game looks super-duper but then behaves very differently.. thanx for posting those pics dude:) They have maximum arcadey impact! (almost outrun2 style)

I know, in terms of graphics it makes forza look like a joke tbh. I know PGR2 ia very arcadey, but that's hardly a bad thing, I don't want every racer to be realistic, I like taking corners and power sliding at stupid speeds :).

TBH I didn't find the 30 fps in PGR2 an issue, it seemed smoother then most 30 fps games.

THe black Ferrari in that first hi-res pic (old one forget the model) is my fav car in PGR2. Awesome engine sound, best fun in terms of handling for me too, slidey, lots power but not too twitchy like the really fast cars... yeah I did like that car a lot. But in red. It has to be red.

The 250 gto in that game is a work of art, I utterly agree :). The stingray is also teh awesome, it's like a boat on wheels.

Red all the way too, Ferrari red XD

I hate to say it, Code, but those pictures don't really seem all that impressive. Pretty, yes, but I'm sure there are games that look just as nice.

*shrugs* :(

Im not trying to start anything either but how would you know it not even out yet.

I have played the game, full build (just not bug free and polished). I work for the press.

It is an awesome game in it's own right. Honestly comparing the two is pretty difficult, as they both have faults/strengths, and both of them have a different focus.

Both are freaking awesome games though. GT4 is more pretty, but Forza makes up for that in other areas (though I still don't like the "kits" etc).

I love arcadey games also, but PGR always seemed strange to me as it outwardly looked so realistic, so much like a GT competitor... Then they make it really arcadey. Burnout and Outrun look immediately like they're arcade games at the outset, for instance. I don't hate PGR2, I find it a little strange stylistically for what the game is, that all.

Talking about possible GT competitors - SegaGT2002 was perhaps the crappest GT competitor EVARR. Very awkward handling, boring as bat**** tracks... I was burnt by that one. Bye bye $100.
