The cars was not my problem. I was around for the comments of the staff, and the pics of the workplace where the drawers with car info were kept etc etc etc. I could care less about what cars they did or didn't have.
It's the whole fact that GT4 is GT3:B-spec that got me.

i have a feeling the only game we can expect to go all out with physics is LFS. the developers dont care about making the game user friendly and the goal is making the most realistic racing sim possible. Of course because of this they dont want to waste money on licenses to big name companies just yet. Sofar only 2 cars i know of actually exist and are going to be in S2.

Sony never needed to advertise GT4, it advertised itself, because of GT's 1-3 everyone knew what GT was and what it was like to play, all people needed to hear was GT4 and theres the adverts, no more info than that was really needed. GT4 was overhyped, but it was just people on sites like this getting over-exited and expecting too much. I can't remeber how many people I had to tell not to read too much into that video of PD's stafff day out where they drove Ferrari's and Porsches, most didn't listen and were adamant they were in, guess who was dissapointed.

Expect too much, expect to be dissapointed, expect too little and you'll be pleasantly suprised.

Drifster, whether you admit it or not, you are a victim of the "hype".

I'm a victim of false pretenses. The fact that 3 years of development went into it. All those threads popping up about "Gt4 will be the 1337 0wnage" blah blah were 100% garbage to me. What really stuck the nail in the coffin for me, was that from Gt2 to Gt3 there was such a drastic jump and now with the innovations in technology, a billion dollars at their disposal, and 3 years to spend it.....That is what got me, not the fan boy craze...But hope that there was a company that could spend a BILLION dollars on a game, and make it a great one. Not an "ok" one. a GREAT one.

people were already complaining about the game being to hard with gt3, and now even more with gt4. PD's concerned with getting money, not making the most realistic game ever.

Exactly, that's what I've been saying. Games are meant to be entertainment for consumers with money being a result of it.
Games arn't supposed to be a MEANS of making money with the chance for entertainment.

That statement there is very ignorant of the way things work. If there wasn't a possibility for making money, a game would never be created. Period. I know some developers are very sincere in wanting to make a quality game, and I don't fault them. But publishers only care about how many copies they can sell. So that is ALWAYS a factor of any game that is released.

No one said it wasn't a factor, it's a JOB.
Job = money
money=quality of life

Of course money is a factor. But it's the publishers that are more sincere about their customers that usually make the better game.

I think you missed my point. It's the developers that are sincere about their games that make a better product. The publisher really isn't worried about the "quality" as long as it sells.

Are you sure? Because with a billion dollars i'm pretty sure I could do a little better than refurbishing an old game. I mean. I could always re-do mario 64, Nintendo cut me a check.

My point exactly. Nintendo WILL pure millions into the next mario game because they expect it to sell extremely well.

But since nintendo can develop AND publish their own games they are in a unique situation.

Anyway, I'm not really arguing here. I'm just saying that the developers are generally the ones that "care" about the the quality of the game. The publisher is generally concerned with numbers.

but swift, you do realize what i'm saying though? I understand you completely, yeah money is money there's no question about that. But wouldn't you really expect more from a billion dollar investment in terms of the finished product. Oh don't get me wrong I know the monitary gains were well enough for ANYTHING they could have come up with. but just lookin at the finished product.
3 years...A BILLION dollars...

well. they improved alot on the feel of gt4. But of course, a game too realistic would be too much of a risk. since the popularity of games such as NFSU show that people dont want too much of a challenge.

The goal is making money.

there's now way the physics are like that from incompetence. There are a few things left out in the game that dont make much sense though for a billion dollars......

Well, i'm done here.
In sumation I can only say one thing about PD.

They are alot like myself. They are highly concerned with money, given the opportunity where alot of money was involved I would too cut as many corners as possible to keep as much money in my pocket as possible. Man they can work the system can't they?

Yep, I have a laundry list of "little" things in GT4 that should be added or changed. But on the whole I think it's an incredible game that deserves the hype that it got. If anything it's too real for the mass audience. I know we all here want ultra-realistic. But we probably represent about 1-3% of the people that are going to buy the game. The vast majority of them want a beatable challenge. Those same people wouldn't have a clue what to do with a car on a real track, but we would at least have some idea(I've been racing on a track multiple times). See what I'm getting at? make it too good and it's not good, it's hard. There was even a thread about the in the GT4 main forum a little while back. :dopey:

👍 ... that will probably also kill the commercial success of Enthusia... I really enjoy that game.... the gameplay is just awsome... but not what I would call easy, especially for the standart gamer... sad....

Am I :lol:. GT4 is fantastic, I think Forza will be too, it doesn't matter that it's not the most realistic game ever out there, it's a damn fine effort to make a user friendly simulation work (exept for the rally races wghich just do my head in).

Less bickering, more screenies!
Oddly enough instead of going to a forza fansite I come here to see the new screenshots. lol
thx guys :D

I have to say I'm not over-keen on that pic of the Bentley, probably just a bad screen cap though.

yea! thats what I like to see. 👍
I think they all look great. I'll bet in 480p/16x9 it'll look incredible! I'm getting anxious.

These kind of posts are always humorous to me. But it's cool to be excited.
