Yesterday i play in a game store PGR2 in Xbox.
My opinion is:
IT ISN'T AND WILL NOT BE GRAN TURISMO.
The control of the car is so arcade...
The graphics is lower than GT4.....
And the stages is ......

GENERALY IT ISN'T THE GAME TO FORCE YOU TO BUY A XBOX.

/Argh! puts on flame retardent underpants.

Well of course the handlings arcadey its an arcade racer! :p
Graphics are techincally better than GT4s, i.e. higher polygon counts etc... although personally I prefer GT's style.
Stages is what? Well I presume u mean not as good.

Just remember you were playing it in a store anyhow, not the best place to 'review' a game on ;)

I've got an Xbox & PS2, both games are great in their own ways but if I had to choose it would undoubtably be GT4, presuming its as good as we all hope it to be. Still I preordered Sega GT Online the other day yay :D

Just wait till code_kev & cobragt sees this

congratulations nick, this is the most stupid thread this month! Come one man, you even played it in a store ffs, nothing like giving a game a good test before judging it.

The control of the car is so arcade...

DUHHH could it be because it's an arcade game?

IT ISN'T AND WILL NOT BE GRAN TURISMO.

NUMPTY! It's NOT CALLED gran turismo, it's called pgr2, it's a totally different style of game. GT4 is a SIMULATION, where the cars are realistic etc etc. PGR2 is about racing like a nutter round courses and skidding round the corners like a fool! Infact I'm glad it's different.

Theres nothing wrong with not liking pgr2, but least give it a fricking chance. Not the game to force you to buy an xbox? What? lol, I bought an xbox for the same reason I got a PS2, the games. I myself really rate pgr2, it's given me hours of fun. OFC, if I had to choose between pgr2 and GT4 I would also go for GT4, but that doesn't mean you have to make such a fanboyish thread.

I wonder what would happen if I did a thread called "Gran Turismo 4 is Crap" and judged it on the videos I saw  ....

Even spelt "project" wrong on the threads title, this kinda gives some indication about how daft this person is...

btw how can you do GT4 vs PGR2, have you even played GT4?

Yesterday i play in a game store GT4 in Playstation2.
My opinion is:
IT ISN'T AND WILL NOT BE Street Rod.
The control of the car is so arcade...
The graphics is lower than Street Rod.....
And the stages is ......

GENERALY IT ISN'T THE GAME TO FORCE YOU TO BUY A Playstation 2.

:D

STREET ROD FOR EVER!!!

 your dumb kev. well I never played PGR2 maybe because I dont have an Xbox but oh well I love my PS2 and I just dont wanna wats ethe money on an Xbox, but to say.. Hey GT4 is better than GTA because the cars are more realistic, well even thought its a bad comparsin but its a diffrent game, just like NFS:U and GT4 the cars could handle diffrently because its an arcade game it more towards the fun factor rather than the realism, Gt4 will be like a car masterpiece, real physics etc. etc. thats what they wanted to do, IMO you cant compare the two at this point since GT4 NOT GT4P is months from release and you just dont know how it will feel and work in the end, things could possibly change from GT4P who knows, to me this is a dumb thread mainly because youve only tested one more maybe a few min. and two youve never tried GT4 out so you really cant give a good review of both until youve tried both for atleast a good day if not a few days, just to get the feel and hang of the game..

...

Are you serious?

And then there are those that cite PGR2's "superior" graphics... nevermind the fact that nobody's even seen the finalized GT4 in direct-feed on TV!

"Superior polygon counts". It's maddening! Since when did Piet Mondrian become inferior because of the amount of brush strokes on his canvas?! I'm sorry, "technicality" does NOT make art.

I bought a crapbox 2 days ago just to be able to play PGR2. I'm not impressed and will probably sell it in a week.. I was very dissapointed with the physics of PGR2. The graphics may be detailed but I don't like how it looks anyway.

Hasnt this been said over and over again before?

Having played PGR2, I think its a great achevment by Bizzare Creations, it has some excellent touches e.g the Showroom Mode, the game is a tad arcadey, but what do u expect.

I still believe GT4 still holds the crown as the most realistic driving game. :trouble:

so you bought a "crapbox" just for PGR2 - :odd:

why not try playing Halo ? You could even rent it instead of buying it !!!

halo, best console fps. Anyone who disagrees is wrong. I dont care what argument they give, they are wrong. Oh and Halo 2 :D :D :D...I might actually be looking forward to halo 2 more then half life 2

I can't believe anyone still makes up phrases like "crapbox" lol. He obviously doesn't own one, he's just saying he does to try and make some point that PS2 "owns" the XBox or what ever kids say these days.

I was very dissapointed with the physics of PGR2

Are people just cut n pasting stuff from other threads?

Gt4 holds no crown yet, it's not out remember! It could still be crap lol (what are the chanes of that happening lol).

Halo is the best ever fps - some days I'd take it over GT3 !

but I'm glad someone else is happy with Halo !

and Halo 2 - Im looking forward to that more than GT4

I don't own a hyped-up PC... err, XBOX, so I cannot say that I have legitimate experience playing even PGR1.

As much as I know, the "Project Gotham Racing" series is basically the old game series Rush. The Rush games (S.F., "Rush the Rock", Extreme Racing USA, and 2049), have been about unrealistic, usually dangerous racing where you can go off a bump at 150mph and (singing) "Fly like an eagle... into the future." Anyhow, PGR is mostly an arcade racer where you take exotic and not so exotic cars and trucks onto the streets of many famous cities the world over. Give or take the insanity of the Rush series, PGR is mostly like Rush.

But how do the two compare? PGR has a few cars GT4 won't have, including SUVs. PGR has some races in the wet, in which I am sure that you can configure a race to be wet. GT4 is a RACING game. It captures the pure thrill of GT road racing, sideways-style rally racing, and just the closest thing possible to doing that stuff in real life. GT been around longer than PGR. When a game has spawned a totally new perspective on racing games, other companies will try as hard as they can to emulate or better the best game. PGRs 1 and 2 gives you Need for Speed thrills without having to fend off cops or rush hour traffic.

So which is better? It depends on your tastes. If you want a pure simulation, GT4 is coming to video game stores near you later this year. If you basically want an NFS experience that's anything but, PGR is for you.

And again, I'm not trying to answer questions others perceive as dumb. I'm just expressing points to the best of my knowledge. If the insults keep up, this will be reminiscent of the "Grand Canyon View Debate" (if you are new to GTPlanet and don't konw what I'm talking about, keep looking on the GT4 Topics for the issue). Anyhow, points stated, nothing futher, I'm done.

Yes, I bought it just to play PGR2. It came w. MM3 and Halo but I haven't tried any of those yet.

halo multiplayer, incredible. And the AI of the enemys on the hardest setting is just the best! And the warthog :D

Back to Gt anyway :)

GTJugend, just sell it then, your obviously playing the games thinking "my ps2 is better so I must make my self hate these games". Just sell it and, I dunno buy an eye toy...you might enjoy that more :P :odd:

Oh and john, games are NOT that same just because they are in the same genre (arcade racing). Rush and NFS are crap too.

No. I'm getting bored of videogames in general, that's probably it. Haven't touched my ps2 for months. So much for your mind reading ability.

so you spent all this cash on an X-Box then straight away decided you didnt like vid games any more ?? why'd you spend all the cash on the x-box ?

this is a stupid thread anyway - its been said already but gt4 isnt out yet so you cant compare it to anything else

Im off now

I don't want to brag but I don't think the ~250$ I spent on it is that much.

In a way this was an eye-opener to me, buing it. I haven't decided that I don't like videogames anymore, it just got very obvious that things and interests do change (Im turning 30 years soon, could that have something to do with it?). PGR2 is surely a good game, lot of ppl say so but it never caught me.

well before you sell it play Halo - and sit down and play it, not for 10 minutes because I didnt like it at first but then .... blah blah you know how the story goes

I've play GT for some time now, trust me, enough to know the difference.

PG2 vs GT3 (since GT4 isn't out yet)
Fun factor: PG2 wins
SIM: GT4???
Courses: PG2 wins by a long shot!! so many different routes within many availiable cities.
Detail: PG2

If you've only played PG2 at your local retail stores, you can't possibly experience all the cool features of the game until you have time to play it at home. The online and system link is very fun. If you don't have online or system link availiable, you can play up to 4 players multiplayer, I'd like GT4 to try this. I'm not an advocate for XBOX, this is pretty much the only xbox game I appreciate. Driving around Gran Turismo style courses does get pretty lame, where as in Project Gotham 2, the details within the city give you more of an enjoyment to drive around, its feels more like you are test driving the vehicle. Do your research www.gamerankings.com has provided a collection of reviews from different groups, and PG2 is ranked up there, average score 92 percent.

If GT4 can include courses like the ones in PG2, I wouldn't hesitate on saying GT4 is better.

Well, I already beat PGR2 awhile ago, so I'm not gonna compare it to Gran Turismo.

The game doesn't fair too well even in its own merits of gameplay.
For one thing, the title is way to "slip n' slidy", attempting to capture the essence of Ridge Racer in the wrong way. No matter what your speed is, if you touch the brake around a corner or before it, you WILL drift no matter what (even with a bloody Skyline). It proves to be unbearably annoying. Especially when using the Enzo Ferrari in Nurburgring. :irked:

None of the cars within the game seem to adhere to even their most basic physics personalities, and the damage has absolutely no effect on the gameplay either. You're just sliding around corners while playing bumper cars with others when the game is 8 competitors. After awhile it looks quite silly with everyone running around like crumpled tin and slamming one another again with auto drifts per corner/turn. :odd:

As an arcade racer, it's pretty stupid and definitely aimed at mainstream idiots who have no idea what an arcade racer is supposed to be.

And no, I'm DEFINITELY not gonna compare it to Gran Turismo.

me thinks your the idiot here. Just because you don't like the game (for pretty sad reasons tbh), doesn't mean you have to call those who do "mainstream idiots". Seems to me your just crap at it tbh if you keep damaging your car.

I didn't say that if you LIKE it, you're an idiot. I said the Bizzarre seemed to aim it AT mainstream idiots, for which its game design (if you can call it that) shows through.

Bad controls, with pretty licensed cars and a custom soundtrack.
Sorry, that's just not an arcade racer.

So if it's not an arcade style racer, what is it then? A platformer? An Rpg? Is GT a point n click?

Bro, an arcade racing game conveys excitement and personality. It expresses speed at an exaggerated pace. It is loud and pretty and flamboyant. :O

Having 100+ cars where only about 15 are useful, using 4-5 different tracks that consists of the same objectives (cone challenge, street race, overtake, camera), sloppy handling and some technically sound graphics do not add up to an arcade racer. From what it seems, PGR2 is merely a game that wants to be a sim, but does not apply the sim resposibilities of carrying licensed cars. And so many to boot (again, over 100 of them). It's definitely NOT an arcade racer since the game's sense of speed is frightfully slow, it doesn't have any personality whatsoever and there doesn't seem anything inherently memorable about it other than a Kudos system that grades the player on what their supposed to be doing in the first place. :irked:

Hell, the game doesn't even allow you to choose which tracks that you want to race on with the car of your selection (Arcade Racing). It selects the car for you for the corresponding track, UNLESS you're playing Kudos challenge or multiplayer races. Huh? :odd: Why would I want to race in a tight cramped area, boasting sharp turns with a Ferrari. Wouldn't it be nice to experience the heavy sense of speed that the car boasts?

Personally, it just seems like a very pretty, yet very hollow empty shell.
