Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • no hybrids
  • no cheating of any kind
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • save your replay ('Save Ghost Replay' icon)

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM to me (Sphinx):
  • you can submit only once per race
  • please include in your submission PM your division, name and final lap time
  • deadline is Tuesday 27th May 9pm GMT
  • if you are unsure of the deadline try this site


Time verification:

Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted:
  • all gold times each week will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • when a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide a replay before the next race deadline
  • failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from WRS results
  • video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified
  • Those who have .xps or .sps files, can they please convert them to .max before submission

Seems good, but I think we must sort some specs before starting: AI tyres (can we choose them or is it medium as in our car?), tyre wear (I assume it's none), penalties (I assume it's none, but any touch worth a penalty would also be worth a DQ, so it's not that important). And I see the red areas are legal this week... this might help passing the AI.

Week 117 the luxy had t1, t3, and t5. Should we do this for both laps?

Good suggestion Kenny 👍 tho it means a tad more work for us updaterers than a normal week :nervous: but that's ok :)

The 320 has 257 hp with no increase.
The 320 has 309 with + 20 increase.
Are we to use the 309 hp?
The 309 is what I will start with.

EDIT:
I have set the AI difficulty at 8 and the AI tires at medium in the driving options right after chosing the 320. It took me a while to remember this. This may help some one from going past this point and wondering where to change these settings. Or maybe I'm just forgetful.

I was wondering the same when I ran a few (2?) test laps last night and it felt like a Sunday drive. :dopey:

I guess I can consider that getting used to the lines with some control. :sly:

This reminds me of online racing.
Lap 1 is all about the AI, where to draft and where to pass.
If only I could tell them to draft with me, we'd go faster, but they aren't listening. Oh well.
I am using some red areas of the track, they seem hard to me.
I am also using 290 top speed now, it seems faster, not really sure yet.
I ran the following with 300 though.
No AI touches at all.
At first it seemed impossible, then I tried to manage the AI better and had no issues.
With the 300 top speed I passed the AI before Mulsanne and with 290 I passed them before the first chicane. 290 seems faster. I only ran 1 race with 290 and had a wall touch.

I think this combo rocks also.
I improved quite a bit overall and there is still plenty of time left on the track.
I started thinking about something else towards the end and lost over a second on one corner alone, the right hand sweeper (Porsche curves) just after t6.

I love the combo, but boy does GT4 looks different after switching off the ps3 ...
Anyway. The car is a real pleasure to drive, and the compound is just fine for this track. My first splits with one minor AI contact just before T1 in the first lap are:

38.822 - 1.59.346 - 3.06.762

Loads to improve but my ps2 uptime will obviously be limited this week :)

Hmm.

I dunno what the point here is. If I draught the pack, will I be quicker? Since I'm +10 seconds up on the pack at the end of the first lap, I'm guessing no.

I've typically passed all the pack bar one car before I get onto the Mulsanne, and then occasionally there's a bit of swapping before the first chicane, but if I play follow my leader through there I'm slowed up.

First lap T1 is usually around 42.lots, although I've seen a 41.xxx. At T3 I'm consistently 1:59.xxx, seen a 1:57.xxx. I can't do any more this weekend 'coz' I have to pack up for the Nono.

Some improvment. Scruffy start but managed to do a good last lap and was light years ahead of my previous time.

I just want to let you all know that from now on, I officially hate AI cars! Didn't manage to do 2 laps with less then 3 AI contacts so far :(
 
I have found if you have the Wedssport instead of the Altezza directly in front of you at the start its easier to get by those 2 just before t1. After that draft past the rest before the first chicane. If you can't get past them before then just ride with them through the chicane and overtake them on the next straight.
 
Tried some more and finally managed to get just 1 AI touch.

The total of t5 is slower by .2 seconds but the overall time is almost 3 seconds faster than my previous fastest overall time.
No daydreaming but 1 AI contact.

This race was a bit disappointing comparing to what I was expecting. Seems like the track is too big for this car, and lap 2 is useless (the single race would be better with just 1 lap). Of course, this is just my personal opinion, other may think very differently.

Anyway, my first complete race, with top speed 290 and the lineup without the Altezza:
