Yeah, I have some, Im going to Hong Kong to buy a PSP which will probably mean that it is the Japanese version, like yours........

Where do you download the US manual from?
The PSP is region free when it comes to games, right?
Does it come with a pouch, headphones, memory card etc etc...?
Is it possible to convert AVI videos to play on it?
Can you buy blank UMD's to put stuff on?
How's the battery life?
Does the Japanese one play only NTSC region one UMD movies?
Which game would you recommend I purchase first? (as you said ridge racers is boring (its the same as ridge racer 5, which I own!).

Thanks, Robin

There is no region coding on PSP period! So you can play US games on Japanese PSP's or Japanese games on US PSP's.

Back to the graphics. Yes the games all run at 222mhz. a full 2/3's of its power but the 2/3's is more like 1/2 if you consider the GPU is also underclocked. something like 111mhz.the bus speed thats half the cpu speed is the GPU speed.. Its full crank is 166mhz. I also read that Sony wanted developers to us half the full polygon throughput for the games.

The hardware isnt capped its the software libraries when making a game. Sony will un-cap the libraries once they release higher capcity batteries.

I think Sony did the same with PS1 but never told anyone. ridge racer ran at30fps and 320x240. But Namco got the exact same game running at 640x480 at 60fps on PS1

The only reason I can see to get a PSP is for GT4 mobile but even then it seems a big waste. I may buy it one of these days, keep it for a little bit and then return it.

Its not for everyone. People have different reasons for getting one. If you have no reason to own one theres no reason to. I own 3 games and 2 moives. and few few bit torrent shows to watch away from home or at work. No one can sell you onto somehting, you have to find your own needs and reasons.

yeah... I guess I just want to at least experience what all the hype is about. :grumpy:

You have to find one :). Some people dont care about homwbrew apps(I like casino addict) and emulators. I do care about emulators and i love playing classic 16-bit games. in most cases I prefer to play them on PSP over PC. I also like going back to fps roots and playing doom 2. My other reasons are movies and games. Luminies is a great game dispite it could have been done on NDS. But my bread butter is wipeout pure and ridge racer. I'll get other games when the price goes down. Thats just what I like about it. I dont listen to musc or use wifi but i do keep my sons picutres on my psp to show people. Beats pulling out a wallet size :).

Well, I think GT4 Mobile is gonna do properly. Still, they say NFSUR has bad graphics, go buy the game yourself and see. It's not true..
