Basically, for all you guys out there that have had ps3's dies on you (including me) This is for you. I don't know about you but i'm loving gt5 however it would be even better if I knew I had a backup on my usb stick. I certainly don't want to have to go through hours and hours of the same thing in order to get back to where I was.

Copy protection is necessary I understand why, but surely they could lock it to our PSN Id's?

This is a poll now, but I'll class it as petition ;) Title might need changing mods.

I am playing russian roulette with GT5 and my 60GB "Launch" considering I have already "Reflowed" it 12 times! I have a slim but I still prefer the old "Fatty"!

Funnily enough i'm doing the same.
my 40gb one is hooked up to my rig in the back room, where as the slim is in the lounge room.
if it dies... oh i'll be shattered!

I'm about to do a full back-up just to back-up my GT5 save game.

How big is your external hard drive.. ? Is it bigger than your ps3 hdd? Or can the external HDD partition be of the same size?

Stupid question fellas....If I have to start my game again, will I still be able to access my bonus cars? Providing I use my same PSN ID?

Surely if you could back up your game then people would just dupe their cars, right?

That was what caused the economic meltdown in FM2... it seems to me that it's right to lock the save.

I had one of the launch 60 gig ones. It turned on the yellow light while playing GT5 prologue. I had to pass it all again, plus I lost all of my other game saves.:grumpy:
:scared:

Tell me that in 6months time when your PS3 dies!

I totally agree with the OP

If I remember correctly, it back-up your save files.

From what there's no such a feature yet, at least for now.
I've google'd a bit and i'm pretty sure that i'm not wrong. And here's suggestions on US PS blog.

There's already exploit how to make some money using a 2nd PSN account. Also, is GT5 always auto saving when you gift a car? Because if not, then you still can dupe a cars with 1 friend.

I'll sign.

I'm currently on my 14th Ps3, every time sony has sent me another it hasn't lasted the 3 months warrenty you get.

Just do a full system backup, your external HDD/flash drive needs to have just enough memory to fit whatever is on you PS3.

If you are referring to the bonus cars using a code to download from the PS store then yes you can access them. In fact any user name that is on your PS3 other than you own has access to those bonus cars in the game as well!

I wish PD would allow your game progress to be saved on their servers like EA does for Battlefield Bad Company 2. Doesn't matter what PS3 you use, it downloads data from their (EA) server to the PS3 and all you current save data is there - Play on!. If you have to get Plus for this feature in the future then count me in.

Yeah, I don't care how much it costs I just want to be able to back it up, I'm really worried my ps3 will go bang.

I only have a few videos and game saves and it asked for around 17GB of space.

My PS3 is a 320GB Slim model.

Does this mean that they are stored in a separate file from the game save?

If that is the case then the game save could be non-protected and the DLC is still secure.

Just a heads up for everyone.....this doesnt concern ps3 locked game saves so it wont help if your ps3 dies but if anyone ever has the same problem i did they can take advantage of a utility i found after i experienced game save loss due to a freeze up. Long story short after my ps3 froze up my game save data became corrupted. After getting really mad and starting over i found a utility in the options menu from the main screen that will try to recover any corrupted game save files but sadly i had already deleted the corrupted data. Any who ever has this happen can try to recover the file instead of getting pissed and deleting it like i did.......
