GT5 damage modeling.

I wonder how closer to release GT5 would have been if they had decided not to bother with damage modelling? How much time has been wasted on this completely unnecessary feature? Personally, i would still buy it and love it if there was no damage at all. As long as they keep that brilliant cockpit view.

And people who use the roofcam might say 'I wonder how closer to release GT5 would have been if they had decided not to bother with cockpit modelling? How much time has been wasted on this completely unnecessary feature?'

Opinion Alert!

On a serious note, they got quite far in only about 2 months when we saw the first in-game footage of damage at TGS 2009.

Exactly the same reasoning could be made by those requesting damage and don't care about cockpit view ( thinking the time spent modelling all those cockpits is a waste of time ).
Personally I do agree about cockpit view being brilliant, and perhaps the thing I'm looking forward to the most, although damage is also welcomed by me.

The madness starts at 1:30. At 1:45 look at the driver getting burned...intense stuff, and all by a group of amateur modders

Clearly amateur drivers too...

That said, the damage model is excellent.

I think that PD realized that GT suffered from the lack of any kind of damage and while the PS2 may not be the ideal platform because it clearly wasn't powerful enough to do what KY wanted, the PS3 on the other hand has enough for him to experiment with damage to the cars.

Personally, I hate damage. I would re-start a race after a minor scrape in other games but the upside is that it makes me a much more careful driver and perhaps in the long run, skillful as well.
