You say that now, but you'll pick up a PS4 as soon as the first GT screen shots for that system hit the net:lol:

I think most people that picked up a PS3 when GT5 was announced have learned their lesson, do not buy the system until the game is OUT.

Many of them probably spend $600 on something they could have gotten for half that price if they waited.

well there's that also lol

I guess they couldnt re-book a slot at the Blu Ray factory so they opted for the CD-R producing one next door, at least this way KY can say he did deliver it before Xmas! :sly:

It will just be like Windows 3.1 installation from diskette all over again!

So you say we are hyping the product....and we are used for their benefits ...right? ... free buzz ... free marketing ... talk of the community .... and lets say a few weeks after NFS & COD ... and well before LBP2 & KZ3 .....

good point ....

so we worry for nothing .... it will come out early december.... boosted by us...

Squanto, I'm not sure if these delays drum up any more consumer interest. If they do, it's more curiosity than anything else. For example, my friend knows I'm obsessed with this game since I keep talking about it with him, but since he's not as obssessed about car games, it doesn't really resonate. As a result, his interest level in the game remains the same. And I'm sure I'm not the only one talking about this game with others. The thing about GT is, you either get it, or you don't. I've never come into contact with someone who's a "casual Gran Turismo player". More than likely anyone who's played Gran Turismo is a pretty big car fan, and has played more than one version of it. Fact of the matter is, GT5 is a niche product, and doesn't have as much widespread appeal as we'd like to think. Hence all these "release illusions" we've been getting. I mean iirc, someone here posted ealier that it took six years to plan the mission to the moon with slide rules and pencils (I really did laugh when I read that), and yet in six or so years we haven't gotten a video game. Is it really that complicated?

As for the folks at Sony/PD using delays as a marketing tactic... I'm not sure they're that sophisticated. All Sony really sees is the bottom line, they may think about things like creative marketing and such, but I don't think they're viewing this delay as a subliminal/psychological marketing advantage. However, I do think this whole GT5 thing appears to be a sort of brand imaging that's going along with Playstation. Sort of something that Sony's using to 'bolster' the console's image. I mean this game pops up at almost every game show, and where there's a playstation, there's some form of Gran Turismo. If people knew this game had been tossed around for the last five years, people probably wouldn't give a s***. But consumers have short term memories, and it's possible Sony's playing off that. Pretty low if you ask me.

Look at this.

"The Sony DADC Global Network consists of 35 facilities, providing unmatched capabilities and flexibility in providing leading solutions and technology for optical media.

Looking at Sony DADC's locations shows the worldwide competence. Offering best global coverage, the global network produces 1.8 billion discs per year"
.

They should get all of those facilites to make GT5 Blu-Ray disc, we would have it in a week, haha !

EDIT : After quick maths, it's about 150,000,000 disc a month

To put it in perspective:

God of War III went gold on Feb. 25th, (initially shipping 2 million copies) and got released on Mar. 16th. That's roughly 19 days to get the disc printed and shipped. If we assume it takes possibly a day to 2 weeks longer to print GT5 (possibly more disks for a worldwide release), then it'll be roughly at most 19 + 14 = range of 19-33 days. Add that onto today, then it's roughly around the Week of Nov. 23rd, Nov. 30th, and Dec. 7th to get it out. Mid-December is also a good possibility as well.

You make a valid point.

Outside of the fanatical, core, diehard "pre-ordered it through a friend who is a manager of a Gamestop so I could get it 8 hours earlier than it's released to the general public" crowd, and sites like this, there's been nary a peep from the MSM.

They (the media) announced the delay, and then moved on to the next political scandal.

Out of idle curiousity I've scanned some of the larger media feeds and while people here may be utterly shocked to learn this, not only was there no outrage over Sony not announcing a new release date for GT 5 before the end of October, there was no mention at all of GT 5. Nothing.

I'm pretty sure it will coming this holiday season(Christmas:))
Last Monday, HK just have a announcement for GT5.They said it will release at the end of December. And it have 5 packages for customer, such as the limited version with a apex book & 5 downloadable cars.
Also I think it will co-operate with 2010 ASIA GAME SHOW to max sale the game:idea:

Excellent. This means GT5 promotion will begin soon. Do you know when they'll run this car?
Logano ran at Martinsville a Gamestop`s car, but there wasn`t a GT5 livery.
At Texas, Logano will run the orange car on the Cup race, (Home Depot), however, Logano will run a Gamestop car in the Nationwide race. May be he will drive Gamestop GT5 car.

to all those asking “how long for production?”

WORK IT OUT YOURSELVES!!!

Original release 3/11
Decision to pull 12/10 – ie 3 weeks lead in time for production / distribution.

Let’s say that the “missed by 3 days” had already happened (as opposed to “would have missed by 3 days”)…

… so maybe 3.5 weeks tops.

To counter that, production may already have been in progress for 3 days or more.

Seems reasonable to assume that release could happen in 3 weeks time – ie by 24/11

Say Friday 26th to fit with UK release schedules??

This could be a sign
