I remember in one of Kaz's interview he said that the release date will surprise people, I can't remember from the top of my head which interview this was. I have a feeling that the Nov 2nd release stands as is and it will be a surprise to all gt fans and everyone else come the 2nd of November when they see GT5 on store shelves.

I dont see why they would, they have nothing to lose because people like you would buy the game anyway.

Its true, ive been holding of an xbox and Forza for soooo long, they could delay it to March and I would still buy it, its the worst thing ever, waiting, but when we hear there's a delay, we all just except it and await a new release date.

I say this month we WILL get a new release date, and it will stick, otherwise I'm gonna fork over the money and buy Forza, probably get a used 360 on ebay or something.

I think GT5 WILL come out before christmas.
Sony have advertised a new 3D bundle recently with a 3D tv, PS3, GT5 & other 3D related stuff that is guaranteed to arrive by christmas day if the bundle was ordered before Nov 30th (I think)

Exactly, this is reassurance.. I HATE hearing these march 2011 theories!

Well GT is better in every quantifiable aspect of a racing game, more cars, more tracks, both of wich are more detailed and look closer to reality, physic is closer to reality too as both claim to be simulations, graphics are closer to reality too, shadows, ambient lights, reflections, color saturation. All those things wich can be observed objectively are part of the reason a majority of people will subjectively prefer GT over Forza, it make for a more appealing and enjoyable experience. So GT is both subjectively and objectively a better game than Forza so far.

By the way, when you ask "What has the measurement used by the corporate world has to do with the subjective perception of the consumer?" Answer: it has everything to do with it, the more people like it the more sales, sales represent the subjective appreciation of a product, that include the actual product itself and the branding. What it has nothing to do with, is its objective quality, even though it plays a major part in the public perception and appreciation.

I wasn't trying to debate the quality, the objective or subjective one for that matter, just saying sales are only an indicator of popularity and not necessarily ( although perhaps one of the indicators which may suggest it ) a guarantee of quality.
If quantity automatically equals quality, which it doesn't in my book, then you could just blindly go for every bestseller ( given that it interests you ).

Ofcourse certain elements which make for a quality product can be objectively established by measuring objective criteria ( graphics for example ) although even if those elements are superior over another game that still doesn't automatically make it a better quality game overall ( just one or several aspects ) as a good game ( or good product ) is more than the sum of its parts and the overall quality is subjectively perceived and judged.

I didn't say sales aren't important ( ofcourse they are ) but when a poor quality game has good sales due to hype, etc. it doesn't become a good quality game all of a sudden.
You then perhaps have to take all those games which are resold or traded in after release into the equation too or how many people still play it after a certain amount of time, etc.

The quality of a game, being an entertainment product, is highly dependant on subjective appreciation of the individual player.
If a large or small group of customers perceive it as a high quality game ( no matter whether objectively they are wrong or right ) and there's some sort of consensus that it's a quality product ( again hardly objective ) then the total amount of sales is largely irrelevant to those customers, it only is important to secure a future iteration or support of that product for them perhaps.

The sales are important to the developer and publisher and acts as an indicator for them whether they're on the right track or direction perhaps.
The saying 'never change a winning formula' could apply here and therefore sales ofcourse have an impact on the content ( and quality ) of the game.
Which isn't the same as saying it gets better due to it though.

So basically what you are saying is, "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks."

Nah it's a pretty good summary.

Did you even read it? Or is that just assuming what it says ( or having trouble comprehending it )?
If I wanted to say Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks I could've simply written that couldn't I?

Here's a video I just made. It's not exactly serious (like other fan made trailers), because it's supposed to encompass the average GT fans impatient frustration when it comes to how long we've been waiting for GT5. (The lyrics match the scenes) Enjoy!

Yup i did read the whole thing (that's 9 minutes of my life i'll never get back) and i still think it's a pretty good summary.
My guess as to why you didn't just say "Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks" is because you wanted to vent.

Yup i did read the whole thing (that's 12 minutes of my life i'll never get back) and i still think it's a pretty good summary.

Vent what? Explaining my take on that quality issue relating to sales? Which is after all an opinion isn't it?
If I said that supposed summary ( which it isn't ) I would've said something completely different not relating to that issue but a broad general and frankly plain ordinary statement.
That it took you 12 minutes to read it and I wasted those isn't my fault but sorry anyway for wasting them, it took me far less to write it though.

hey that's pretty slick ... good job on that man. sony should use it for real.

Whoa chill dude i'm just saying, that's all.

If English is your native language and it took you more than 90 seconds to read (including time to consider the points as you went and decide whether you agreed with them or not) then the chances are that your reading comprehension isn't adequate to be able to summarize it at all.

I hope the finger marks clean off your monitor nicely.

Alright fair enough, it probably didn't take me that long.

it probably took me around 3 minutes (which is still too long in your book) my point was it was really long winded (so i should have probably just said that)

Exaggerating to prove a point people, get with the program bro.

Yes, it will defenatly surprise people. First the delay of Japan, second surprise was global delay of begin november. What surprise will be next? A new releasedata by the end of the month for release in nov/dec 2010 (witch could surpisingly be delayed) or a releasedata in 2011?

assuming we are going "to be surprised" by the new release date, (is it an official quote???)
what would surprise you more? a Short delay to maybe a week or 2 later or a long delay, like next year.

to me i would be surprised if its a short delay, GT 5 being delayed till 2011 would NOT surprise me anymore!

so hopefully its a good sign.

unless anyone hears different.

i reckon a month from wednesday (paris games show)
so whats that, the 27th of nov?(ish)

EDIT: the 23rd of november.

A few people have been referring to the the Guaranteed delivery by Christmas for the Australian 3D Entertainment Pack, but with all business Guarantees you have to read the small print.

http://promotion.sony.com.au/Bravia3d/

http://promotion.sony.com.au/Bravia3d/Home/TermsAndConditions

Under the terms and conditions, paragraph 14
# For eligible claimants entering under Condition 9, if eligible claimants register and the required documentation is received and validated by the promoter before 30 November 2010, prize delivery is guaranteed before 25 December 2010. Otherwise the prize will be delivered to the eligible claimant (if applicable) within 28 days of the Promoter validating the entry and purchase documentation. For Sony Style purchases, prizes will be delivered with the product purchased, unless the product is available prior to the prize being available; the Promoter will notify the claimant if there is any delay for delivery of the product. Prizes will be delivered to Australian addresses only.

Just the fact that you harbor that fail ass Alexei Kovalev's name as your nick voids all credibility.

You know that "HELLLOOO. GUYS!!" is something that only comes out of a 10 year old girl with braces or a very effeminate gay man.

Alright, first of all, i don`t believe what the girl said at EB games. Having 2 release dates for the Collectors edition and the regular edition does seem weird but that's what she told me, and that's what her system was saying.

I just had some "new" information from a Canadian retailer that we didn't have before. And the fact that it is so close to the previous lunch date and the fact that we didn't hear anything about the north American delay of the game, i thought i would be interesting. I didn't make a new noob thread for this because of how relevant it is.

Now calling me a little girl, or making fun of my nickname is not something i came for here. I just thought it was too bad no one noticed my post that had some kind of information in it because that thread is more of a "chat room" than a...Thread! So don't shoot the messenger.

P.S, and for your information "lalaurentide", Kovalev IS my favorite player, i liked him since i was young when he was playing for Pittsburgh. I have my reasons to like him, and since he played for Montreal, where he was a hero, the best player we had since i don't remember who, i liked him even more. Yes, he is at the end of his career and he's an extremely enigmatic player, but he doesn't deserve all this hatred, and i really see no point in associating his name to my credibility. If anything, you are the little girl calling other names in this thread.

I'm not sure about the being surprised by the release date info. I don't think that Kaz has done an interview since the game was delayed. His Twitter account is the only place that he's talked about it so far and that was basically him apologizing for having to delay it while mentioning that he doesn't think that we'll have to wait until the end of the year to get it.

HELLLOOO. GUYS!! You guys only read what you want to read? I've got some info about the north American release, and nobody even noticed?

You know that all they did was update the system for GT5 standard when they got the memo through about the unknown delay and didn't know there was a collectors edition.

The only way PD can surprise me with a release date is if they hit one.

I'm curious about something. PlaystationEU twitter says "We expect to confirm a new release date before the end of the month ", so is there any possibility that they'll NOT announce a new release date or they'll announce a new one %100?

What if they won't say anything about this "new date" this week?

If they don't say anything about a date. There's not alot anyone can do really.
Just carry on with the waiting game. Sorry.

That's right. We can just wait, but we all expect a new release date THIS week, which is the last in october as you Sony may be aware...

I am not expecting a date, maybe info.
A date would be welcome but only taken with a pinch of salt.

I would be surprised by a release date that is earlier than Nov 23rd but would be a nice surprise. I suspect it will be Nov 23rd though.
