GT5 delayed

I agree with the importance of black Friday however there may simply not be enough copies of the game available by then to release it. Most people agree at this point that it was a production issue that caused the delay.

That didn't stop Nintendo selling the Wii, or Microsoft selling Kinect and then claiming a massive problem meeting "unprecedented demand" BS... When anyone with any sense knew it was an intentional drip-feed supply stunt.

Get 500,000 in each region, and then consumers fight for them.

It is possible that Sony would do this, though IMO it is unlikely especially since this is a definite problem and not some stunt.

Anyone who believes retailers dates as potential release dates is a fool, while they may end up being right in the end it's far from official and is pointless.

Look at me now, I actually have something useful to post. I don't really have any pictures of this, and none of you know me, so you'll just have to trust me. Also, this could mean completely nothing.

But anyway, my friend is a manager at a Best Buy on Long Island. He went to this confrence in Phoenix, and got a ton of freebies as a result, like a Kinect, Halo, computer cases, expensive ear buds, and a bunch of other crap. Today he got Call of Duty Black Ops in the mail out of nowhere. So today he also got an email giving ship dates for a bunch more free stuff he's getting. One of the things he's getting is a 7" Little Big Planet plush... that's pretty neat... anyway, it says GT5 is shipping to him on the 16th. So there ya go, there's my news. Maybe he's getting it really early because he's lucky, maybe that's around when it's coming out, maybe it's nothing.

Interesting, but chances are it's simply another place holder.

If he gets it for his store on the 16th, that means it comes out two weeks after that, or the 30th...

What are the odds that 100% of those said games are all there, and all accounted for when the real day hits?? :sly:

Not sure I understand your question...

I am just saying retailers always gets products two weeks before they release so they can do inventory on them and get them into their internal tracking programs...

Understanding that everything at this point is rumor, speculation, or innuendo....The 30th would seem the logical date, although **to me** Dec 7th would be more likely to allow for promotion, etc.

Not sure if these guys are a reliable source but i havent heard of the email link or any sony exec talking so far, looks like we could be possibly heading for a 30th november release!

Comments Peeps?

It's a rehash of other news sources (primarily GT Planet) without giving credit or references to these sources. I've seen quite a few of these "sites" do the same thing. The more credible of them let you know they're rehashing by giving credit (again, usually to GT Planet) at the end of the article.

EDIT:

I found the following to be "cute", not because of the rehash, but because at the bottom of the article it says "Pre-order your cope of GT5 here. Xbox 360, PS3." (The 360 link then leads to a Forza 3/360 package.)

I think from a business standpoint Sony would prefer to release this today or yesterday or earlier to maximize the number of shopping days prior to Christmas. My guess is that they are still needing to get sufficient numbers of copies to all of their important retail channels. They don't want to be in a situation where Walmart has all of their stock but Gamestop hasn't had their allotment distributed to their stores because then many people would cancel their Gamestop pre-orders and pick them up at Walmart and situations like that would be bad from a vendor relationship point of view. My take on them not announcing a release date is that they don't know what that exact date of sufficient vendor deliveries will be and they would like to pull the trigger as soon as possible once they get to that point. If that is the case they may announce the release date only a day or two prior to the actual date and if the stories of retailers receiving shipments sometime next week are actual in fact then that date could likely be before Thanksgiving.

According to THIS Dutch gamingsite they have a document from a very reliable source, so they say: "We can say with all certainty that the list is real, and that the data is very reliable." It's from one of the biggest Dutch game retailers with all important upcoming European release dates on it.

GT5 is on the list too: 26-11-2010.

Let's hope this turns out to be true. (If this has been posted before, sorry, I can't keep up with everything)

Sony's marketing strategy (not announcing a date) is obviously working since there are 1000+ people browsing the gtplanet gt5 forum right now. constantly checking in to see if a date has been posted, etc. creating a little bit of a frenzy. everyone should try to be patient with the last official word being KY saying the disc are being made now.

Uh, no.

I suspect 99% of the 1000+ are people who already have pre-orders in, or who have already determined they want to get the game. We're non-entities.

The real targets are, of course, the people who own a PS3 but who have little or no knowledge that GT5 is (apparently) soon to be delivered.

And Sony is failing miserably by not only lacking an advertising campaign, but even a press release with a release date which the MSM could then put into a news item.

Absolute, utter, screw up on Sony's part.

Take this for what it's worth, I pre ordered the collecters edtion in June, today I got an e-mail from Amazon saying the new release date was Dec 31. This is the only e-mail I have recieved from Amazon since the order. However Since 12/31 is a Friday that may be something for book keeping for sales carring over or something. As I said, take it for what it's worth

Amazon basically sent out a.....it's not out, but we have your order and we expect to fill it on (or before) Dec 31 2010. Everyone that ordered from A got this message. As TB said...placeholder, nothing more.

Amazon will get it to you on the release date (or a day or two later) when they get it, and the date is announced. (some games come with a DO NOT DISPLAY UNTIL XX/XX/XXXX ((date)) on them). I assume the retailers honor this request for fear of being blackballed on future releases.

I mean whats the odds on every single one of those GT5 discs remaing in the stores for those 2 weeks prior to the official release.

The world is full of people with sticky fingers

I have a (possible) reason to believe GT5 will be released in the USA on Nov. 23.

Many months ago, I pre-ordered "GT5 Collectors Edition" and the "Gran Turismo 5 Prima Essential Track Guide" from amazon.com.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307889890/?tag=gtplanet-20

Initially, both were set to come out on Nov. 2. After the announced delay, their respective release dates both moved systematically and together, initially posting a Nov. 30 release date, then a Dec. 31 release date.

This morning I got an email from amazon.com:

The item(s) listed below will actually ship sooner than we originally expected based on the new release date:

Akitomo Sugawara "Gran Turismo 5 (Prima Essential Track Guide): Prima Essential Game Guide"
New estimated arrival date: November 23 2010

These two products have shared the same release date for many months, through every delay, seemingly working in conjunction somehow.

Hoping the trend continues.

This is my first post here so hello everyone.
I'm checking news on gtplanet since i've bought GT5:P - over 1,5 year ago.

I've preordered GT5 in july, and been waiting with you guys with fingers crossed :) "just released the game already" :)

In October, my Polish game shop (yes i'm from Poland - Europe) set release date to Nov 3rd, then changed it to xmas 2010. But now it's they say "the game will be send to customers on 29th November 2010"

So i think we're closer then we think to the release !
