What's stopping them? Bashing would not be legitimate in a normal room, but it clearly is in a dirty room. There is no real difference between clean and dirty, just a different set a rules. Same thing as NASCAR vs F1.

Why would you cut out the first part of that sentence which makes the second part you did quote make sense? I was clearly referencing REAL banger racing there. You can't just t-bone and drive recklessly in that sport so i'm not sure which laws or rules dirty racing lobbies are conforming to?

As I said i'm not stopping them doing what the like, I was merely replying to the point about it being a legitimate way of racing.

I could include that, but it wouldn't make a difference. Dirty racers can slam and bash because it is within the rules of the event. The lack of rules would be the rules in this case, and someone above already outlined some additional rules that may sometimes be used.

The host's rules. They are the only ones that matter. Legitimate racing does not need to be modeled after real racing series.

It would have made a difference because I was just talking about real life, I didn't say they couldn't do that in GT5. The end of the preceding sentence was a giveaway on that, I thought.

Maybe true but how do you therefore define "dirty racing" as a legitimate race type if each driver and host has their own idea of what is allowed and what isn't? When you enter a clean room you know the rules are universal and bear resemblance to real life. If you enter a NASCAR room you follow the real world NASCAR rules, and so on.

If you enter a dirty room there could be any number of different rules so you can't just define "dirty racing" as a legitimate race type because there are so many different interpretations.

I think i must participate in this discussion because i can`t really see your point.
By your way of thinking "Clean Races" are also not legit. The host can make the rules to have penalties or not for example, the same way dirty rooms can have rules. How many times did i race in a Clean Room with shortcut penalty`s on La Sarthe Circuit and some random drivers cut the last corner in the last lap and win the race? He didn`t followed the rules so why isn`t he playing on a not legitimate race?
Each driver has its own interpretation of clean/dirty racing, and it will always be like this.
Claiming dirty races is not legitimate, in my opinion, is a complete wrong perspective.
And i must note that i have never participated in a dirty race.

Edit: Let me add another thing. Since "Dirty Rooms" have been created, many clean rooms stay clean ;)

If you don't like it, don't do it. 👍

and no this doesn't go with things like drugs. Never do anything like that.

Dirty racing is fun so long as its not constant. I hate it when online races have collisions are disabled.

As others have told you in a few threads; use the Edit feature, don't double (or triple) post. I've just merged no less than four instances of this.

I never got into the whole dirty racing thing, just not for me. Hell, I'm so anal that I won't even cut corners or hit other cars when grinding or playing offline.

The good thing about Dirty Racing are the rooms that are labelled. Nothing like going into a room you think have sane drivers and 16 cars lined up and first corner mayhem, dive-bombers at hairpins and "No-Racing-Room Ronald's" on fast sweepers

I race in a clean league on a weekly basis, and I love it. I do, however, occasionally enjoy hopping into a dirty race now and again. I think it's just the mayhem and randomness that tends to make it so fun. I saved a replay of a dirty race I was in at Suzuka. I was waaaay behind in last going into the final lap when all heck broke loose throughout the lap, and through attrition, I ended up getting by the leader at the final chicane for a most improbable victory. The thing with dirty racing is, at least for myself, I don't even care where I finish. Win, middle of the pack, dead last. Doesn't matter to me. It's the joy of having no idea what's going to happen, like getting piledriven into the first chicane at Monza, or suddenly picking up 30 mph going into hyperspeed when an airborne car lands on my rear decklid at Daytona. It's all fun to me. :D
