GT5 getting boring?

I'm very boored of GT5 but I always loved my gran turismo games soo I deleted my game data 👍

The pretty part is "most" of the PC sims dont take much power. GTR is a good example, even a 6 year old PC can run it.

Besides that, there are plenty of race games on consoles as well. Ferrari Challenge, Shift, F1 2011, Forza, Race Pro, etc. etc.

Amen:tup:

Try drag racing. Opposed to common belief, it is quite difficult to become good at and takes a lot of testing and tuning. Drifting isn't that boring either. With 1000+ cars and an online lobby, you will always find something to do...

This game has started to venture into the back end of my mind the last couple of weeks. The repetition of grinding A-spec events has now reached an ultimate boredom level, so there forth I went online...

I thought that venturing into online servers would offer me a little break from such repetition, but in the grim reality of it, the Open Lobbies are just so boring, bleak, and are often ruined by every other person who seeks enjoyment from trolling. While I do troll myself, I wouldn't commit such acts as to just being a pushover in a race or practice session. Those people drive me into Rage Mode...

Drifting is also quite fun once you bite the rope and hold it. Problem with drifting online is everyone likes to possess complete disregard if you slip out and try to get yourself back on the track. This usually results in those select people (the majority of them in a room) entering Pissed Off Mode, and then usually a kick afterwards. How ignorant... :grumpy:

And what's up with this police chase gig going about? Sure, it was interesting for about five minutes, then it grew so bland. People don't want to make it interesting or fun; it's always the same old thing.

That above statement brings me to my next problem; the selection of lobbies online is about the same. Everywhere I roam, you've got Free Run on the TGTT; you've got drag on Indy; you've got coppers on La Sarthe, and you've got drifting on Tsukuba. If people were to actually stimulate their brains with something that has a little more, um, variety in it, I might just have a second glance.

I can't believe this was how the game was set up; it's a wonder as to why DLC was released. Though I only bought it to support the company that has cashed in the most hours of my PlayStation3 (thank you B-spec for testing out my console's endurance), it seems as an attempt to keep the game interesting. Oh, and I just love it when people attempt to show off the DLC cars online; they must think I'm envious or something. When I pull out my DLC cars, they leave. Oops!

This game is going into a rut, and there's nothing anyone can do about it unless PD releases another update that can equate to Spec II. The line ends here; no further arguments...

I've always wondered why....

Consoles in a nutshell.

The market is pretty small on PC nowadays, and it get slimmer with niche genres such as sim racing (same with flight sims). Therefore no games have been made lately.

PC's are popular for MMO's, RTS's, and FPS's. Also keeping up with a gaming PC takes some PC know-how. I loved building mine back a few years. I was anti-console for a long time, until I found the ease of use of sitting on my couch and not spending 300-700 bucks a year on a PC. Sure ocnsoles dont look as pretty (yet) but they are easy to access for just about anyone.

Most recent good sim game on PC is Shift2 with the community patch in place. The older ones have community support and can do amazing things, but only so many texture patches you can apply with say an 8 year old game.

Ok...I rambeled too much.

I respectfully disagree OP,GT5 is still a blast to me. I just had an 8 hour stint online with a few friends and it was great! I recommend doing this..

- Do the seasonals with a "fair" car
- Gold all 60 licenses
- Get a wheel if you don't have one, it makes GT5 a whole new game, how people can stand to use a DS3 is beyond me
- Try out a different kind of online race, get creative!(Top Gear recreation, beater race, key car race, pickup truck rally)
- Get some real friends to play
-Join a league here on GTP

And if none of this appeals to you, I think your at that point where you should just stop playing for awhile right?

Just out of curiosity, I'm finding GT a little boring every time I play it. Don't get me wrong it's a ****en epic game.. but curcuit racing over and over is like too.. confined.. Anyone else getting this a little too?

I'd LOVE to just roam the streets like a normal person in a sort of GTA/NFS way.. without the stupidity and 'arcadeness' of those games (just using these as example.. I think NFS underground was like that too?).. Just have a 'track' or two with a few streets.. houses.. normal cars around going about with their own lives etc etc.. Simulator meets normalness if possible?

Any tips on what else is fun to do in GT5 besides throwing my X2011 of a hill? :yuck:

HEATHEN!!! THE SINNER MUST BE PURGED OF HIS SINS!!!

Seriously... My love for GT5 has only wavered around the time new games come out, but after I've exhausted myself of those I always find myself reaching for the GT5 disc... Always.

To the OP.. clearly you haven't driven the Lotus Evora fully tuned.. man that thing is a bad boy, and the DLC is pretty good.. the 2012 GTR Black Edition makes around 940hp.. oh.. my.. god.. what a weapon of tarmac destruction.

The game isn't boring so long as they keep the DLC coming, will be more bettering if they include Australian DLC aswell.. but no, I don't think it's boring.

Each to their own.

Don't shoot me but i was given a rrod eggbox for free, fixed it and promptly ordered Forza 4 and have been playing it for a week now, Its just not GT physics wise but it has some great features (livery editor, a good selection of cars) and will keep me busy for a while i think, but lack of G27 compatibility is a big kick in the teeth.

If GT had forza's livery editor and more european cars i probably wouldn't have been tempted away

I'll still be dragging the chair and wheel out weekly but maybe not as often until the eggbox inevitably dies again

100% agree with you there man 👍
everything you said I was thinking, especially the wheel statement, It makes the game SUCH a different thing to experience.

Gald to see more people that can enjoy more than one game. I do have to say FM4 without a wheel doesnt not compare driving wise to GT5 with a wheel. But get a Fanatec and you see how much better the physics are.

The lack of Logitech support wheel on the box is a huge letdown, but with Fanatec you dont need to worry about what console you use. Oh...and try the V8 Supercars!

I'm enjoying it, but i will not be purchasing another wheel just for the xbox, if they can update the game to allow the G27 that'll be great, if not, oh well......

I'm a huge BMW fan and irl own an e36 328i sport, The selection of older bmw's on forza spanks GT's BMW garage, (Although this could be rectified with dlc if you're reading this Kaz 👍 )

I don't see the point in being all fanboy one way or the other, if you're lucky enough to have both consoles then enjoy it i say 👍

Well the game is getting boring because all i want now is the remaining premium cars available in the car dealer but to get all them i need 34,000,000cr, that is a very long grind.

Play a different game. Simple.

This is the answer. Doing anything for too long gets boring. I play Dark Souls when I get bored with GT5 :) Freebies to PSN+ members are also good fun, especially the super sonic acrobatic rocket powered battle cars is fun to driving game fans :)

Keep switching through a variety of games, the same genre can often get boring, I normally cycle through BF3, Uncharted and of course GT5.

Honestly I've been bored on and off since day one.... I got my copy of GT5 last Xmas day...that same week I signed up for iRacing.... I still play GT5 on occasion but what I get out of GT5 is considerably different..... I was impressed with the game visually and it has on occasion put a smile on my face ...but overall it was like playing GT4 all over again with better graphics and a few online options... the licensing was a drag as before ....playing against AI cars was just as stale an experience as before and aside from when my real life friends happened to be online, most of my online experiences have been very negative - by that I mean not what I'm looking for in a race.... in other words I'm only interested in testing my driving skill against others.... I hate tuning with all my heart and most online sessions are very casual messing about, not racing... at this point my aversion to that kind of racing has me staying clear of gt5 online ... yes there are leagues but I've tried a few and they were too much work and went sour after awhile.

when I put GT5 in my ps3 and look at the GT Life screen I'm lost with what to do.... there is so much I could do and yet really nothing that's calling me ... sometimes I run laps of the ring or another track, i honestly enjoy racing my ghost car .... should I try to see what the fastest car is?... how long would that take?....and everyone says Seasonal events but those really don't do it for me, again mostly because of the tuning issue....the rare times I took Time Trials seriously it was back when people where still cheating, but I'll admit the GT Academy TimeTrials were fun because they were FIXED CAR...... The rally driving which is my favorite style of driving and very fun in GT, is severely limited to driving on circuits that are not at all like the narrow gravel roads those cars drive on in the WRC so I don't bother, too bad Dirt3 Sucks because at least they got the stages right.... so whenever I play GT5 i have no idea what to focus on.... I do something... then ponder what the point of that was... then try to think of something else I could do.... would that be fun? probably not, and usually after an hour or so I turn it off ...

and then there is iRacing which I've had for the same amount of time on my PC.... where all I do is compete....don't get me wrong I SUCK HORRIBLY AT IT, with iRacing its always either Up or Down with me.... I have races that are extremely rewarding ... and others where I wait 2 hours for a race only to make such a stupid race ending mistake (usually with an explosion of profanity) and have to forfeit due to my own shame.. but at least I have a purpose.... if I'm not competing in an actual race I'm preparing in some way for one... either working on my setup for that week, doing a time trial for extra safety rating or qualifying for the next race - I'm never lost with what the point is.

Beating the **** out of my G25 shifter & clutch without having to worry about cops or transmission problems never gets boring. Coupled with a H/C/I C6 Z06 and update 2.02's epic backfire..... I will never stop playing.

Yup. GT5 is becoming boring as hell.

Nope. Too many cars to try. Early Feb will be a year for me. I love to just break out a new car or a favorite car and challenge the Arcade mode around the 24h Ring or SPA or La Sarthe. Still a ton of fun for me!

I stepped away from it and the PS3 in back in March April time, due to work and other commitments, but fired it back up in October, out of all my PS3 games, GT5 has been the one thats been played the most, bought myself a DFGT yesterday to try and take my GT5 playing onto a different gaming experience.

I can recall being in a similar situation earlier this year, so what I did was, I stop playing GT5 all togther. Instead I played Call of Duty: Black Ops, which I thought was a good decision, because it was something very different from GT5, which is what I wanted. Black Ops is a brilliant game 👍, it has very long life (I only play online), every lobby is new and every game is different.

So my advice would be to get a game that will keep you occupied for a while until the next GT5 update/dlc. GT5 is a great game, but you must balance it so that you don't get bored. Also try mastering sport hard, comfort soft tyres, which I'm yet to do, hopefully I'll get around in doing that in the near future.

Hope this helped.
:)

Online saves GT5 from being boring, but I have to say a livery editor, and vastly improved customisation and modification would help keep this game more fresh and vibrant.

I will say the DLC has relit the fire, just bought it and I had a blast on kartspace in freerun

👍
I defected to Shift 2 for a while. That really made me enjoy GT5 when I returned. I'm also heading to brother-in-law for new year where he has my old PS2 with my GT3 still saved on it - gonna have a go at that!!!!
Merry xmas!

The only thing that keeps GT5 from being boring is drifting online, the occasional ''time trialing'' on the 'Ring with my beloved Caterham since the Spec II update and games such as Skate and Driver San Francisco.

There really isn't anything else to do, well, besides the Expert Series and the Endurance races in A-spec, as I won't ever touch B-spec. The DLC never caught my attention either.

Anyhow, happy GT-ing and merry christmas!

as I wrote in other thread, you haven't played the game if you don't have a decent ffb wheel (hopefully with a clutch and H shifter) and if you still use assists, including ABS, driving line on, gear indicator and all others.

do both and the game will feel fresh for a whole year. Join a league and you'll start loving the racing sim genre.

GT5 is actually the only game that i still play after a year, fifa GTA, you name it it will be gathering dust in my closet after a month or 2. Me being a car nut helps but the updates and the dlc certainly bring the game to new levels of excitement.

And now that the AI version 2.02 finally seems to be competitive in A spec, ill be playing it till 2013 for sure :P

A-spec is boring because it isn't enough of a challenge like Arcade can be.
Arcade is boring because you don't accomplish anything.

Online without a wheel is a kick waiting to happen.
