But supprise supprise all the fan boys come out not wanting anyone to have an oppinon on gt5 unless its positive.
At least i can read and understand previous posts and not re-interpret them to be something there not.

Me too, I only mentioned a car could rollover or turn on its side without hitting anything beforehand, not actually commenting on how real or accurate it is in the game which is something I'm dying to find out come November.
How that makes me a fanboy only willing to discuss the positive aspects only is beyond me to be honest ( if you want proof check some of the posts I made in the Standard and Premium thread ).
But to be fair to you, at least you provided a subject to discuss here, despite some already being bored by it apparantly.

So what else newsworthy is there to discuss anyway, unless someone has new footage of the 'We love cars' video they wish to share? ;)

I know I'm new here and nobody knows me, but I'm just excited for my G27 to arrive today. If I'm home from the dentist in time, I'm going to maul the UPS guy lol. I've been so obsessed with Time Trials on Eiger Nordwand. It's my fave track all of a sudden.

My point 3 weeks to release surely their can be better topics to discuss...

Prvious GT games gave very little away before their release so I dont expect a great deal of more information to appear.

I do however look forward to one last juicy trailer, perhaps for TV/Cinema's and a "Dear Playstation" Kevin Butler ad that could be entertaining as always.

Reviews will be under embargo more than likely to approx time of release by which time somebody here may aready have the game from a wholesalers or delivered before launch date.

.

Dunno if it's better, but we could discuss my points which were overlooked amidst some screenies ealrier....

With regards to the whole premium cars issue, has Kaz any history of telling porky pies or is it just my wishful thinking?

I presume the 3/6 months (whatever) is man hours and not actual time, so if just 10 PD employees are working on this they could be knocking out 1 or 2 a week. Depending on how procedural their build process is and how many people they have working on this they might be able to produce 1 every day or 2. It might explain why we haven't seen much of standard cars. Anyway just musings.

Any thoughts on light upgrades for rally cars? Isn't running with stock lights woefully unrealistic? It'd be nice.

Does anyone think we might see a new logitech wheel? It's been a year(ish) since the G27 was released and we're seeing discounts as mentioned on the front page.

When it comes to cars and tracks PD/Sony as far as I can remember have always understated the count. Though don't expect anything more than stated to avoid dissapointment.

There wont be a new Logitech wheel for a while yet.

I wonder if our beloved insider would be able to give us a little hands-on review before the others?

They've done a pretty good job with the Driving ForceGT and the G27, it doesn't look like they will be adding a new wheel anytime soon. Perhaps a stronger set of pedals for the DRGT as a side accessory, but who knows?

Fresh videos. No particular news to note, though.

I think they should make a DFGT with clutch, H-pattern shifter, horn button, and seeing how the series appears to be progressing, steering column levers for turn signals, wipers and lights. Oh, and also force feedback for the clutch and brake pedals. That would be the ultimate wheel/pedal combination for GT :)

I wasn't quoting you, sorry if I sent the wrong message. I was trying to be comical and bring up the the thought of GT fans flaming Forza's forum walls. But agreed, we'll end it here.

No probs, I didnt think you were anyway 👍 :)

Next Wednesday GT5 will be revealed to the press at the Sony Benelux head quarters in Badhoevedorp, the Netherlands.

The people from the press will be able to play the game at this launch event and get live tips from Dutch race driver Jeroen Bleekemolen.

Source (in Dutch)

A friend I know, who has a car news site here in Belgium,
has been invited to a similar event to.
Next week, on Tuesday, he will be able to play GT5.
Although, he didn't know which version it will be.
Anthony Kumpen (professional race driver) will be there too,
Afterwards, there will be a luxury dinner at "Comme chez soi"

Lol, soo much! Wouldn't it be easier to just put the DFGT tuning button on the G27? :sly:
And there's no reason yet for Logitech to implement turn signals and windshield wipers if GT5 doesn't even have an option to switch them on/off. You're fantasizing on GT6, but keep dreaming...it might show up in the future.

I hope they reveal Gillet there! (wishful thinking)

Price didn't change here in Portugal. And btw, you can pre-order all 3 editions now on fnac if you are Portuguese.

They also have a special bag for the Collector's Edition

And on unrelated news... I just got invited to the Test Drive Unlimited 2 beta ^^ The wait is gonna be a bit more bearable now. xD

Sorry probably a dumb question, is there Indy racing in this?

No apparantly not, it was rumoured ( or falsely announced ) a while back but they were forced to retract it after publishing.
So no Indy cars.
It's only a dumb question if you already knew the answer.;)

I think the wipers should be automated. No need for a button to have them, especially a silly levers.

Actually, the games have had a steady trickle of information prior to release. With GT4, we learned quite a bit about the content of the game and the many features. I think about the only things we didn't know were the full car and track list, and exactly how GT Mode would be played out. I know when I got my copy that I stared at the world map for a few minutes, wondering what I should do.

And if you recall the pre-launch environment for GT4, it's very similar to what we have now with GT5. We actually know quite a bit if you think about it. One thing Kaz didn't do this time which he did before was to give an overview of GT5's Photo Mode. I'm still very curious about this lovely feature, as well as Race Mod. And then there's the Online features, Story Mode...

Okay, so there are still a number of things up in the air with GT5. But personally I like that. This is going to be the most VAST racing game in history. I love the idea of avoiding news with meaty details, so the game will unfold when I get it like an origami flower. I want to exploring, and I like surprises and undiscovered fields. Take the Special Events screenie. Who says that "3" is the only missing number, and not 8, 9...? I can think of a few events besides Super GT and F1 which could fit in there.

I will have to say that it's about time for Kevin B to be revealing his Man Furismo Jive spot. :D

Your math is way off. If there are 30 car modelers - which I think is mentioned in one interview, though that could be the entire modeling team - let's say that it takes on average five months to build a Premium car. If everyone takes a section of a car and checks fit with each other as they go, they could do a car in five days. Ten people would take fifteen or so.

Kaz has been known to understate things, such as the car and track count in the games, so maybe he's giving the time it takes to build a complex car from the start of the project. And thinking about it, I doubt modeling time would compress too much. After two or three weeks, I'd think the modelers would get their routine down, especially since many of them have been modeling with Polyphony for years.

As for the wheel, I suspect there could be a special G wheel, a modified G27 or new G29 made especially for GT5, but we'll have to see on that. I do find the new G's to be awkwardly designed for GT5. As for the blinker and wiper levers, yes! 👍

Updated car list here :

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/member.php?u=49606

Since the Master Car List thread is locked, I put it in my visitor messages for the time being.
We can discuss it here if you want but try not to flood this thread or my messages page ;)
Just wait for the unlocking of the appropriate thread.
Of course if you notice something wrong or odd, tell me ;)

Did anyone ever have a good theory for the missing #3? I'm guessing that is something related to Super GT, but I wonder why they would hide it. Come to think of it, we haven't heard much about Super GT at all.

I think it might be a) Supercars (Enzo, Mclaren, X1 etc.) or b) Competitive Driving (Overtakes, Defensive positioning etc)

Pure speculation but worth considering. Probably narrated/voiced by Vettel. ;-)

It's gotta be the Stunt Arenas... I mean that's the only thing Shuhei Yoshida said that hasn't been announced yet.

wow does NA get that bag?

All my hopes of NA getting cool GT merchandise went out the window months ago. We never get anything worthwhile.

It looked like Vettel was being scanned in the Red Bull video. How else would they use him? I am not sure if I like the stunt arena idea, unless it's more gymkhana like (a la Ken Block).

Maybe there are more challenges than we think.

You can see his 3D render on the Redbull trailer. I think your just gonna get a actual cutscenes with Vettle, Loeb, etc teaching you things.
