Dear SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT EUROPE members:

We are writing to you in as close as possible, from our highest respect, to express the new deception that has caused us to all users on your system, be aware of a further delay of your star game, Gran Turismo 5.

We could even believe for a while and for reasons pertaining to its complex development, what the different dates given for his release were canceled for private matters or time and that until these issues we would be agreed.

After the presentations in their respective Expos and Electronics fairs and after learning from your hands, that would be the date finally presented officially, no one from Sony and Polyphony Digital, issued a firm statement that Gran Turismo 5, was in anticipation executive, to be again delayed to give further details.

This has certainly been a failure by the company they represent as an industry leader with resignation and we see that Gran Turismo 5, is losing a very questionable and embarrassing the name and image that has been earned for years.

We, as users of your system and Gran Turismo, the primary reason why the console was purchased in 2007, we are compelled, how consumers in good standing of our legislation, to request an official explanation or press conference, about this new delay and that means not only that, but also forced us with immediate effect, to cancel all reservations, if in the future decide to change your mind, buy your product at a most affordable price.

Not accept that a new sales channel to delay your product in the future, with other more interesting options on the market. We will try as quickly as possible to make the rest of our colleagues will support this initiative, with more weight forums on the net and news portals.

Without more, we expect from you, give us a coherent explanation of this fact that credibility back and of course lost a game as beloved as it was in the past Gran Turismo, and incidentally make us rethink our positions, but in this will have an uphill battle to win back the credit of his predecessors, both in business, economic, how technical level.

Ahhh!! Don't say that.

While it sticks in my keyboard to do so, realistically, I'm afraid its again, the most likely earliest date.

There is nothing more I would prefer to be dead wrong about, but as I see it, our only hope for something sooner is not the probable scenario.

An earlier release date could only happen if PD and Sony truly don't know the extent of the delay involved and discover in the next two or three weeks it is actually doable before the end of the year.

I believe this is highly unlikely.

I think they know its going to take longer or again 1/1/11 at the absolute earliest, which is also likely "overly optimistic".

And on a side note, release date on Portuguese FNAC (biggest retailer) just changed today from Nov 3 to Nov 30.

There's numerous other games that get pushed back or delayed, but GT is criticized for it more often than the others. Be it the size of the game or the importance of it, no other game should go unnoticed if it too is delayed. If you don't have patience to wait a month or so longer when you've been waiting for 5 years that's on you. There's plenty of people who have the patience to wait for it. After all, there are other games that you can play. Even if they aren't GT5, you still have plenty of content available to you on the Playstation. Why get bent out of shape? I hope they get it out soon as they can, but if it was delayed for a specific reason, none of us can do anything about it. So petitioning, complaining, rioting etc. is useless. Get on with it and have a good few weeks extra with other games.

I'm Tired of everyone posting release dates that are on websites, they are all just place holders until there is an official statement from Sony.

The thing is and I think that is relevant for most drivers/racers i real life, is that you want to finish first, then see if it was enough to get the first place.
I would be really glad to even finish a 24H race on the Ring. But that's the beauty with GT, you can play it anyway you want, there is no wrong way of doing it.

I do think you're missing the point. For me it's not the win, it's the race that's the important thing and to race well. If it means that I win, great, but if not it's the experience of racing that make me come back for more. I've been an online simracer since EA:s F1 games and I have but a few wins, some podiums but most of the time I'm in the lower half of the result list. Does it stop me from racing, no. (Doing GT style races against the AI is another thing) But I'm an online racer most of the time.

That's inspiring m00ndancer, but I'm not against losing, that is part of the game (close call races using underdogs is fun! Even if you lose, now, losing when you have the upper hand... that's aggravating :P)

I guess I really missed the point and failed to make a point, most by my misunderstanding of the hardcore and casual terms ("having skills or not") ...

Maybe someone should post a warning on the GT5 forums page for the new members. It does get somewhat annoying after a week. :indiff:

There does seem to be an end of November pattern to the EU release dates. Since stores have been taking pre-orders and were expecting that money in just a couple of weeks, I imagine Sony may have given them a ballpark estimate out of courtesy.

By using the terms 'hardcore' and 'casual' I was trying to describe commitment to the game, but in someways that will directly correlate to the skills of individuals.

Pattern...hum...considering Japan was going to get GT5 back in March, the pattern seems to be that of misleading GT fans. Whether you believe PD/Sony or not, the GT5 saga is nothing less than pathetic.

Little disappointed that the rear view mirror in the cockpit view does not show tire smoke. It is a small complaint and means very little but it has been an issue with me in Prologue as well.

Make that "almost 6 yrs".

Not near the norm for most games.

Truly there is nothing we can do about it, except the, as you so define and list, useless activities.

I'm always curious to know when someone posts as you do; how long is too long for you?
When do you say; this is ridiculous?
After six yrs? Seven? Ten maybe?

I just find it peculiar, some people don't seem to have any qualms about waiting until hell freezes over. Its OK with them.

The rear view mirrors in GT always showed some less detailed parallel dimension.

True. In prologue, everything looks nice and sharp, but in the rear view mirror everything looks like GT2. I don't mind at all as I simply use the look back button.

Someone like me has a life outside of GT. So maybe that's why as much as I love GT I'm not hung up on a specific release date. Quality takes times. If you want a rushed product go play another race game, NFS Shift is a pretty decent example. A patch had to be added to it. Cars still hit bumps and fly in the air though. I'm not mr. anal about a game. When it comes it comes. If there is word the game is coming, expect it to come. The wait is just that, a wait. If you've waited for it, you might as well wait a bit longer. People act like they'll never release it. Weve got demos to play at stores, game shows showing demos, information from media sources talking about it. It's not vaporware, so I don't get all the fuss over 'a game' even if it is GT5, like I said before.

After finally recovering from the shocking recent news it dawned on me that now we're back at waiting for a release date.

Surely they must have an idea by now.

If release day sales are what they want, assuming its not coming before, they are going to want to wait as long as they can after COD. Too many casual racers (you know the "I'll probably get GT5" types) will be too busy with that to pick GT5 up on release day.
