Guys I can't wait racing you all on Nurburgring and if possible, in the night with alot of rain coming down. Iam gonna race you so damn hard, your not gonna see anything more then the smoke from me :) Hehe, just kidding.

Well I wonder how it will be racing online on Gran Turismo.
I know how Forza was(2,3) and altough I never
got stuck on that game, I realy enjoyed Nurburgring
online. I have never had such a tight race as I had there
sometimes. It's a shame I don't have it on video anymore,
a few special races. One were me and the second were so
tight all the time we never were anymore than maybe
3-4 meters away from each other. Constantly switching
first and second place with each other. Sometimes
I were so close I didn't see anything else then he's
car's rear on my tv. It was pretty damn amazing. Can't wait
for those moments on GT5.

Oh well... just had to share some memorys..

It's not torque steer. It's happened in many previous GTs and it's part of the physics. OH NOES!!! NOT THE PERFECT PHYSICS IT HAS TO BE TORQUE STEER!! No matter the power of the car it should follow the direction of the tires, in the cases of GT. With N1s in the rear it should not have enough grip to be able to budge the R3s, and if it were, should not completely change the direction of the car. It's not just the Best Buy demo, that's what your GT5 is going to look like.

The car doesn't always have to follow the direction of the tires. What about drifters who counter-steer?

Like I said, cars with a lot of power can slide sideways like that without the tires pointed in that direction.

👍
I actually can't wait for that. I mean, the Nordschleife is hard enough as it is but at night & with rain it should be the ultimate challenge.

Yeah but I liked the track so much so I almost only played it on GT4 after a while. Witch ,of course, lead to that I got realy good at it.

Me and one of my IRL friends, who also loves GT, raced alot on it against each other. Altough he was never that good at it :) Hehe, but it was still fun.

It's called "torque steering" The engine produces so much torque it causes the body to twist and warp and as it does so, turns the car itself.

EDIT: that looks like a glitch because the car's on an incline. But that demo is an early build. Don't worry too much.

Torquesteer is an FWD disease.

They can, my ute used to do it (supercharged V8) but not in a line lock. The front tyres don't just magically lose grip and slide sideways down a hill while doing 2mph.

So I see they havent fixed the problem, that when stationary and doing a burnout turning the wheels results in movement in the wrong direction ie. turn the wheel left rear end should swing out to the right and the car should spin left, but for some reason the front end instead kicks out

Those front tires shouldn't be changing the direction of the car. I hope that's fixed... It's been needing to be fixed for years...

Bro. It's a demo.

This reminds me of how the cars slide on the grass in Suzuka when stationary in GT5P. I don't think it happens on the track when parked, or did it? Not game-breaking, but certainly annoying when you want your car to stay in position.

While it's not the final build having these sort of major physic issues is disheartening. This problem has existed for years now in GT5P (I dont recall it in any other GT.. though it very well be there) but it shouldn't be happening regardless.

Considering it happened in GT4, GT5P, GT5 TT demo, and this new demo it's safe to say it's going to be the EXACT SAME in GT5

Plus, might be something that is too late to fix for launch and will likely need a patch, if that is it can be fixed.

It happened on the track on Daytona, when i slowed down to park the car on the start line before setting off, the car would slide down the gradient of the road until it hit the flat road at the bottom.

haha drifters who couter-steer? The front tyres still preforming normaly. Not inverted....And it's not from exsessive power. It's simply a commen GT glitch that happns with thier physicz and i hope they fix it cause i'm a sucker for doing burnouts :scared:

Now that you mentioned it, yes, I think even if you stepped on the brakes, the back tires would slide down the track. I'm actually wondering how hard it is to fix it? Couldn't they simply add some codes to override the physics engine and force cars to stay stationary in these cases?

I don't understand how you guys are just now noticing this. If you haven't noticed it up until this video don't worry about it, it doesn't concern you because you're usually too busy actually racing to find out.

If you enjoy doing burnouts and donuts in a video game, then it's a problem. Among other things, going from gear to gear and 'chirping' is also a big problem in the physics

Sounds really awesome and indeed it is a shame you haven't the replays of them anymore, would so much liked to see them.
And you are right, these moments, where you are wheel to wheel with other cars for some minutes is one of the freaggin' best things ever. Just a few days ago I played F1:CE on Monza with the slow Williams car on 3rd position, in front of me the two Ferraris and I think I chased them for some damned 5 laps haha! Always tried to outbreak them in virtualy every corner, but failed nonetheless.
Well, as I had the better strategy I still won.:dopey:

Well said. haha quick tap of the handbrake can create the illusion but i agree. It's a driving simulator, Not just a racing simulator

I never feel like the "Bro. It's a demo" defense is a strong one. Especially considering it's been a problem in a lot of GT games and GT5 is "done" - so to speak.

So you are under the impression that this early build demo is what the final game will be like then?

Alot can change since a demo build.

Some cars, with a ton of torque, do drift sideways. It's called "walking" or a "teardrop drift" if I'm not mistaken. (which I have been a lot recently) But who knows. It is an old build, the track is cambered weird and the Enzo does have a lot of power.

yes, RWD cars will step to the side during a burnout occasionally...but NOTHING like is shown in that Enzo video...

for instance you can see plenty of RWD burnouts from some Mustangs here...most sit completely still, some will have the real wheels step out to the side, but NOTHING like just sliding sideways without the front wheels turned at all...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcNALaJSm58

regardless of the nature of the track, unless it would slide to the side like that when sitting still...its not going to do it during a burnout. If anything all that would happen would be the rear end would slide to the left because it is losing its grip with the road and the car would spin...

and even if the car WOULD slide because of the incline of the track. If doing a burnout like that, the friction between the road and the front wheels would be much different that the friction between the road and the real wheels, causing the rear end of the car to slide much faster towards the bottom of the track.

as for it being "torque steer." Really??....

Anyone that claims it is torque steer doesn't know what torque steer is.

Torque steer is a problem that effects FWD cars, not RWD cars. The reason for this is because if the drive wheels are pulled in one direction, it effects the steering column because the steering column is attached to the drive wheels. In the case of a RWD car what you instead get is the rear of the car "stepping" to one side, but no effect on the "steering" of the car....

RWD cars are also designed with half shafts of equal length, which also prevents the problem.

The problem comes from this though...

While, I agree that the idea behind this game is to race the cars, and therefore very little time will be spent sitting still and doing burnouts. It is still a serious flaw in the physics engine if that happens on flat ground, or even only slightly uneven ground...We are led to believe by PD that the physics engine is so completely accurate that simply inputting numbers about the cars physical makeup creates a car that accurately represents its real life counterpart....

Yet then we see videos here where simple laws of physics are being broken...it puts holes in the armor of the overall physics engine to say the least.

Yeah. If I had them I would upload them to youtube :) But I sold the 360 due to alot of issues with it.

I would buy F1 or any other racing game if I had the money. But I gotta put my savings on GT5 :)

I realy hope we can chose different weathers and time on all tracks. If not, at least Nurburgring. Well it would be wierd if not, cause it's probably the biggest and most populair track in the game.

@ Metfanant, it's not a big deal.

You don't need to say stuff like this to SS.

Its only a matter of days/weeks untill the real relise date is out, and considering these images popping up, it should be very very soon.

I wasn't aware that having a lot of posts excused one from being wrong.
