Does anyone remember the teaser last month from the uk psm magazine, which said reviewed the game that may take gt5's crown? Well that racing game is................

Wrong, that wasn't annouced this month. GTR 3 by simbin was annouced this month however. No platforms given yet though.

How intelligent of you

1. The controller is crap compared to the Xbox controller (subjective I suppose)
2. It's too expensive (or was) compared to the Xbox FACT!
3. Sky player!!!
4. Xbox has 1002 games and Ps3 has 607 games
5. PS3 games are too often late
6. More exclusive titles for Xbox than for PS3

these are my top 5 gripes with the PS3 so far, there are others like inability to chat to friends, no option to use bluetooth stereo wireless headset and others.

1. Yes, it's subjective and I agree to a degree, however the DS3 is a lot more ergonomical and has superior technic, like built in battery and probably bluetooth... I only use wired controller for xbox, so not sure about that.
2. PS3 has had a blue ray player and a HDD from start. Fact.

4. All the good games are available on both consoles, except we have GOW III, and you have Halo.

7. You have to pay for X-Box online features, we get PSN free.
8. A PS3 doubles up for so many more things like blu-ray movie player, web browser, picture/music organiser, to name a few.
9. PS3s are more reliable, far less prone to breaking down.

To be fair I remember having to wait like 3 or so months for Dirt1 to arrive for the PS3 after it was out for 360, but that doesn't seem to happen often, fortunately.
 
Funny I was under the impression that this was a thread dedicated to GT5 news and discussion, not one on the pros and cons of the 360 vs the PS3.

Keep it on topic from now on, we have a thread dedicated to 360 vs PS3, so take that discussion to the correct place.

Feel free to consider this a formal warning on the subject, post off-topic again gents and an infraction will be in your PM in-box (oh and keep it polite when talking to each other or the same fate will occur).

But even assuming that Sony did release the PS4 in two years why would PD want to release GT6 on that instead of the PS3. The PS3 would have an install base of 50+ million units by then. The PS4 would be just launching with at best a couple of million units sold. If you are PD do you want to sell a product to a potential customer base of 50+ million or a potential customer base of 2-3 million?

GT and GT2 were both on the PSone. GT3 and GT4 were both on the PS2. Having GT5 and GT6 on the same console isn't so beyond comprehension is it?

Can't be answered at this time because we don't have GT5 yet.

But history shows that there will be enough room left to be filled by GT6 on the same platform.

Well, given that nobody has any factual knowledge of what exactly will be in GT5, it's impossible to say what can be added to GT6. Once the content of GT5 is made public, then we can all whine and moan about what should have been in, and therefore what should be in GT6.

As already mentioned, GT2 and GT4 were sequels on their respective platforms, and those did perfectly well. Now, unless PD make good use of DLC to keep the game fresh and updated, I fail to see why GT6 would not get launched on PS3, especially as it's looking like this console generation is going to be one of the longest yet. It sounds to me like GT5 is a whole new foundation upon which Kaz intends to build upon for future releases.

Well, we don't know yet what it will add as we're probably will be blown away firstly by GT5's content and be entertained by it for quite a while.
Eventually the novelty will wear off ( hard to fathom, i know ) and we'll be demanding more and newer cars, different features and other tracks, etc.
It will be bigger, better, bolder in ways we can't imagine right now and we don't have to because we haven't even played its predecessor yet.

Nope no mention of GTR 3, just a whole feature on test drive 2 - page 88. No mention of a release date though.

My original point was based on customer base. i.e. they would want to release GT6 on the PS3 with what would then be a 50+ million potential customer base instead of a just launched PS4 with a 2-3 million potential customer base.

But if you want a list of features that can be in GT6 and not GT5 then as others have said we cant say that until we know what is actually going to make it into GT5.

regardless they will be able to add better physics, better AI, better graphics, different cars and tracks, different race series.

But say that GT5 does have full damage modelling on race cars and only skuffs on production cars.......they could add full damage modelling to all cars.

say GT5 has the option to choose day or night or dry or wet racing. GT6 could add true day/night cycles and wet/dry cycles.

say GT5 doesn't have a livery editor.....that could be in GT6.

and yes *ibo* S3 Racer maybe they will have skid marks and reverse lights :p

We haven't seen a game that has pushed the PS3 to it's limit yet. There is no reason to think that GT6 wouldn't be able to make any improvements over GT5.
 
They would have to redo the engine, too if it came out on PS4, because its not going to use the cell CPU.

EDIT: Who started to talk about GT6 anyway? It can be 2 more years until even GT5 is released for Christ's sake.

Man, mentioning both God and Christ in the same post is not too bad for an atheist, eh? I guess PD get's the worst out of people.

Back on topic to GT5. Believe it or not I think the PS3 being "cracked" ie hacked will push forward the release of some PS3 titles (maybe GT5). Why? Piracy has had an extremely adverse affect on the PC and 360. If MS had a penny for every pirated game they would be a making a ton. Sony DOES NOT want to see this happen on the same scale to the PS3. Right now the issue is relatively small but with the magic of the internet and word of mouth news will travel fast. The sooner SCE and PD release GT5 (or any other title) the better. Then they can make sure any future customers don't crack their PS3 by adding in content they did not get to put in as DLC. Similar to what BFBC2 did. IMO this is a bit of stretch but I guarantee SCE has at least thought of it. What Sony really needs to do is release an immediate fix (not just FW 3.21) that squashes this problem for good. Although I do not think piracy on the PS3 will reach 360 levels, due to the extremely large size of the games, and the fact that nothing will be playable online (ie the online part of the console has not been hacked).

Thats nothin', anyone play a lot of GT4 LAN? Now THAT was tearing, especially on Sarthe, cripes that was annoying! The entire screen shakes like an earthquake for a couple seconds :scared:

GT games run on PS hardware. Period.

Driving is good yeah...but Gamersyde have this in much better quality 60fps.Also on "Ring.
