NASCAR pit-stop...
nascar-pitwork-640x360.jpg

Pit-stops in GT5 = Pure win 👍

It that new ROllover trailer... 15 seconds in, what if the cockpit was like that for standards, I think that would work.

And honestly it looked way to black, maybe that's standard interior.

That's a premium car, it's just night time so it's dark.

gotcha, regardless it's still way too black and has that silohuette look like in GTPSP, and maybe they can implement that look into standard cars.

Have to be honest I think the standard cars still look great. Other than that lots of good news on the site and the crashes vid looks amazing!

I'm going to do the next analogy:

*My first car was a VW Beetle (the old one) it didn't have A/C, Airbags, neither ABS

*My actual Car is a seat ibiza, it has the same size, but I have Climatronic, Airbags and ABS

*The next car I want to buy is a Civic SI, it doesn't Climatronic, but is bigger, it has EBD and TCS also the Airbags and ABS.

My point is, always when you take a step forward you've got a lot of new things (Day-night cycle, premiums cars, new tracks, new Licenses, Damage, new physics, maybe weather and livery editor) but it is true than you have to sacrifice some things (standar cars without interior modelling) and finally all the news things surpass the bad things 👍 , it's simple evolution

I can see why people would be pissed at the standard cars... I mean why wait 5 years, buy the ps3, then pay lots of money for GT5 to have.... GT4 which you've been playing on your PS2 for years... I would being honest have taken a cut in car numbers to say 500 and have them all beautifully made inside and out, than say 200 perfect PS3 cars and 800 half finished ones. I understand the amount of work that would go into doing all those cars, but I do feel they made the wrong choice with going for the 1000 mainly last gen cars.
Now I know theres a lot of people bitching that they dont care about the graphics just the way it drives... which is commendable but they're lying! if they did they wouldnt but interested in all the other features.

so to close I think the fact we've seen the incar GPS tracker thing and stuff like that being included makes us feel they wasted time on pointless things, time that could have been spend including interiors. I'm with most people I wouldnt be upset if all cars didnt include cockpits, but I would feel more confident about other features if it was the other way around, say 800 cars with interiors and 200 without.

Ok now, mathematically:

If Standard cars = cars taken from GT4 that are enhanced to an "acceptable" level of GT5 resolution

AND Since GT4 cars do NOT have interiors...

Therefore
we can conclude that Standard cars do NOT have interiors ? 👍

But GT-PSP has black frame dashboard/interior view, And also uses GT4 car models.

So for GT5's: 'GT4' Cars I expect at least a black frame interior like GT-PSP has.
And maybe add a Digital/Analog dash with the essential info (RPM, MPH/KPH, Lap 1/3 Position 3/8), Steeringwheel, and maybe even a driver model (Arms, hands at steeringwheel.)

As for now, I refuse to believe a lot of the things I've seen, heard and read over the past few days. (Still think PD/KY is playing with us.)
I'll see what's true and what's not when the game releases in November or when PD releases more/updated info at Gamescom or TGS.

Untill then, I'll focus on other games,
There are more games in life then just GT.

Edit:

Looks way better then this one:

But then again, It's only the difference between sun and shadow.

In the new crash damage video (from the news page), you can flash low/high beam at anytime 👍

Amazed by the Premium cars, but very, very disappointed with the Standard cars. They sound just like GT4, to me, and they just look like a smoother version of the GT4 cars. The majority of the cars I wanted to use will more than likely be standard. The cars I wanted to hear, the cars I wanted to be amazed by watching the replays. Photomode? They'll look like crap compared to the Premium cars. What if I wanna take a multiple car shot with a Premium and Standard?

I know I know, i'm whining a lot. Meh.

Would you like to know why arent they Talking About Customization?, Simple, Because only 200 Cars will be fully Customizable, While the other 800 Wont.

Why? Remember why we could'nt change Body panels in GT4?, because cars were one Complete model, so they could'nt have interchangeable Parts.

Crappy GT4 Ports=Stock Looking Cars with ricer Spoilers and Small Rims.

Fixed this for you.

That is opinion, nowhere near fact.

Imagine chasing someone down at Le Mans at 2 AM and flashing your lights at them. Or flashing your lights at upcoming GT traffic

Its things like that that lessen the sting of the standard car paradox

The main problem are the decals, road cars look better than race cars because of that.

+1 I've move on from the standard/premium now. Just gonna go read interviews to enjoy positive news instead.

If you take a look at the Wikipedia on the GT series, it should be noted that the number of tracks has generally increased with every game and, with the exception of GT3, the number of cars has also increased, as well. In fact there's an average difference of 318.4 cars between the games. (which is right in line with the difference between GTPSP and GT5 it sounds like) and an average increase of 12.2 tracks in every game.

with that in mind, in makes since that GT5 would have 1000+ cars but the number of tracks should be (including variations) around 84. (wait....wasn't there an add a long time ago for GT4 or something that advertised 1000 cars and 100 tracks?)

So, if the exterior, interior, and sounds of the standard cars aren't nearly as detailed as the premium, what makes any of you think the physics will be? I'm not really sure how they model the physics of each individual car, so maybe it's a dumb question. What a bigger let down that would be, if the standard cars only drove slightly better than their GT4 counterparts.

The physics model will be the same for them all.

Basically one physics model is made for all cars with variable parameters, eg weight, power, wheelbase, suspension alignment etc. Then the real data for the cars is put into the model thus giving that car its behaviour.

Because the physics ENGINE is a completely different thing. Instead of going to each car and saying this how this car is supposed to handle, you apply virtual representations of gravity, weight, mass, air flow, speed, drag, lift, etc. I mean, you might have to tell the engine that "This car accelerates this fast and can reach this top speed, but the physics engine does most of the work.

I'm horrible at explaing myself sometimes, especially when I don't know what i'm talking about. :) What I was trying to get at is, as JamboGT said, each car has variable parameters. If they didn't spend as much time modeling everthing else on a standard car, would they spend as much time with all these variables? Each individual cars suspension geometry, spring rate, I don't know stuff like that. I know they have a lot of this info already from GT4, but that's just it. It may not be built from the ground up, something that may make the Premium cars handle so much more realisticly.

Hey Casey, the entire engine is new, the parameters will be put into the new engine. Therefore the handling and physics will be at the same level for all cars.

To thus keeping complaining about whatever they heard or they seen, I am sure of one thing: if it's not in Gran Turismo 5, this will be in " Man Furismo Fix "

I just got back from my grandparent's home....I logged in to GTPlanet and read all of the lastest news, and I was really impressed...:D But there is one thing that I am still confused...

If the 200 premium cars have interiors, does the other 800 standard cars have also interior views? Are the "standards" brought from GT4 and were graphically improved?
:)

No and yes.

The standards are mostly GT4 models in a ps3 game, some touch ups (better textures) but a model similar to GT4 cars, textures separate the panels instead of actual polygons, one-sided tires just like GT4 as well. Probably no interiors as well.

Look around the other threads and see for yourself, and if you can not find it follow the disappointment. :(

5 years...

I understand if they did'nt have enough time to re-create the interior views for the "standards".But for me, I just want to sense the speed when I drive a Beetle for 60 km/h on the Mulsanne straight and destroy at the chicanes :D.... HAHAHA !!! or even better a Bugatti !!

I can't even sense that sense of speed in GT4 when driving a crappy car ...

Oh well,I better move on with my life and wait for GT5!! :D

Honestly, Ive checked some of the gameplay videos of GTPSP black bar cockpit view, and I would honestly rather that then nothing, In full HD it wouldn't look that bad, and It would still be better than nothing (Taking theres still a wheel, and it still has the windows and everything)

I am really dissapointed. Come on, just 200 cars with interior view? Thats only a bit of double the cars than in Prolouge.

Yes the tracks are looking brilliant and the premium cars are great, but the standard cars are just transfered from gt4. Thats a really big downside.

The big talking about 1000+ cars was just crap. 200 cars are really lame after 5 years. They could have outsourced a big part of car moddelling. 1000 cars arent impossible in 5 years, if there where enough people who would work on it.

For me this is not acceptable. Big fail for the brand in my eyes. I dont want crappy looking and sounding cars...
