I like your optimism, but the difference between GT2 and GT3 was of only 2 years, and so GT3 models were not that big a jump (even though we still got only 150 models). I doubt GT6 will have something like a 1000 premiums given it takes 6 months to model a car, unless they take a step back in quality, but thats another set of problems.

It was a jump in that it was new hardware which prevented them from making as many cars as GT2.

This! It amazes me how now this is a shock to people "o my gosh so many duplicate blah blah" weren't we told that 800 cars where coming from GT4? This is not new news folks.

No, but the actual confirmation that PD actually did resort to the nonsense displayed in GTPSP is new news.
 
Didn't GT4 have 60 Skylines? If I recall, Chevy and Ford were the only American car makers with more than a page of cars, and only a handful of the European car makers could be added to that list. GT4 was half Japanese, as well. It should be surprising that GT5 is the same way.

For me, I kinda like it, 'cause I get to drive and see these cars I would never have heard about or get to drive any other way.

I wasn't comparing the the amount of single make cars, I was saying that Forza also does the "80 Skylines" thing, only with American cars. Seriously, if Forza had the room and graphics to do 1000 cars, I'm sure we'd see 50 Mustangs, 15 Chargers, 80 Corvettes, etc. It look a lot like GT5's list only with a plethora of American cars and a sprinkling of Japanese cars.

But the "80 Skylines" thing is precisely because of the single make issue. There's nothing wrong with a lot of Skylines; if they're actually different. A '95 GT-R is no different from a '96 GT-R. Other than racing cars, I fail to see many duplicates here. There are 95 Mazdas in GT5, around 9% of the whole game.

You're comparing apples to oranges here, but pretending they're both apples. 50 actually different Mustangs is not the same as 25 different Skylines and 25 duplicate "different model years" for padding. To those saying "we knew about this for a while": we knew about the number of Skylines, yes. It doesn't make it less of a padding issue, one we all kind of hoped would be avoided. The increased padding by way of the Miata duplicates, or the RX-7's, or the 350Z's, or the Clio/Lutecia, is what's shocking. Doesn't anybody find it sort of cynical that the car count jumped so highly between GT4 and GTPSP yet only a handful of new models were actually added (and some were even taken out to slightly balance that)? Jeez; GT still does have the most diverse lineup, but anybody can see the 1000+ figure is accurate only on a technicality.

We should have a thread specifically for this so as not to further clutter Fido's thread.

Whatever. I'm happy with 1031 cars. I don't care what everyone else thinks. There are several tracks I want to run every car on and I'm sure I'll enjoy all 1031 cars.

I probably wont even drive more than 60 cars. :lol: This is why you can play this game for years, drive about 100 cars faithfully for a year. 👍
 
too few cars END OF STORY.

I will still buy the game... but the car list should be a very big dismantlement to anyone who love cars....(not just skyline and Mitsubishi and Mazda)

Except what I am saying is the truth. GT5 will have the 11 Miatas from GT4 of already somewhat questionable differences. GT5 will then proceed to have those exact same 11 Miatas called something else and treated as completely different cars, when they are quite obviously not. And then they will have those exact same 11 Miatas called something else again. And if GTPSP was any indication, this will be the same situation for every other duplicate car in the game, even when it makes the car itself modeled in a blatantly incorrect way (as seen in the S14/200SX/240SX situation, or the Toyota Aristo/Lexus GS300 one).

The fact of the matter is, if GT5 carried over the car list from GTPSP with no changes at all, GT5 does not have the amount of cars PD says it has. And a sizeable number of those cars would be no less incorrect than the cars people constantly bitch at Forza about.

Not even mentioning the standards which I will say again i'm shocked how everybody is so shocked when the official sites said all cars from previous GT are going to make up the standard car collection. 200 premiums cars is enough for any gamer to have a great time with GT5. We never even played the game yet, or got to drive a car that you like and experience the physics, and race with friends. I'm really shocked how all of you guys are acting, but oh well everyone is entitled to their opinion which I respect. 👍
 
Well as long as the Evo TME is premium, I'm happy, but yeah I do understand that some people are frustrated because of the 20000 skylines, evos, imprezas and miatas, and therefor their favorite car isn't in. But if that is a reason not to buy GT5.....well that's their decision.
 
I've been trying to locate this car in the thread but havnt had any luck. Is this car going to be in GT 5?

I dont know the exact model but I do know its a skyline GT-R. Can anyone help me out with this one?

I think it looks awesome and would be a good addition to the GT car list. I would really like to drive this!
 
pretty disappointed in the car list....

Forza 3 actually had much more up to date cars and it was out a year ago.
this is just a list out of my head that these mediocre cars should've been included
Audi S5, Golf GTI MK6, 09 Honda Fit RS, Fiat 500 Abarthe, Current E, SLK, CL and SL class... I mean the current SLK isn't even consider new, and all they are giving us is the first gen SLK230!

and what the hell.... Veyron a standard car, and whats the point of the 04 M5 and 08 M5 in premium? they are both E60 with no spec change other then the taillight!

I don't even wanna talk about the Ferrari list... I'm sure everyone would agree that Forza's Ferrari and Lamborghini line up is far more impressive.

This game should've been out 2 yrs ago without Ferrari, Lamborghini, damage, weather and premium cars, and even less then 500 cars, but with updated roster of cars and it would still sell millions. From what I see is that they didn't have enough time to model all the new model cars as premium cars and had to recycle the cars from GT4 as fillers to make it look impressive.

But still, this wasn't as big disappointment as GT PSP.....which hardly had any new cars!
 
Could be an issue of PD spreading themselves too thin. If they didnt have to worry about nascar and karts, everything else would be more complete. More premium cars, more tracks with weather, etc...

I would have preferred that actually. 200 premium cars is a little low when Forza 3 has 450+ cars all with interiors, full physical damage and fully customizable.

Seems like they just wanted to keep adding more features, and everything else was shortchanged since they were trying to do too much at one time. I would have preferred them finish everything else, THEN maybe do nascar and karts as DLC.

Which is a bit of a surprise. We had no indication at all that this car would be in.



But it's not a matter of how they have improved, it is a matter of how much the regulations have changed. There is also the tyre differences between seasons that the R1-5 system can't accurately replicate. The F2007 ran on grooved tyres, the F10 runs on slicks.

I have to admit I wasn't expecting the F10 at all, so that is a slight positive. PD never gave any inclination or any announcements that they were trying to get a good roster of F1 cars. But that doesn't mean i'm not disappointed with what they have done.



DLC is a double edged sword. Any DLC we get for GT5 will remove something new that we should be getting in GT6. Then GT6 will either have huge delays or be a huge disappointment.



Maybe the boundaries/specifications seperating Standard and Premium cars have changed. I've still no doubt that most if not all of standards won't have cockpit view. But I do feel there will be a degree of variation in the quality of the standard cars. Some, like the Veyron for example, are way beyond that of those in GT4.

I had another look at the car list this morning and I don't see FPV on there even though I've seen a picture of one..:confused:

I think it looks sooo much like a camero, thats been race modified. Prolly one of my more favorite Japan cars. I like quite a few cars but this one looks so "American" ya know?:cool:

There is also an old Celica in GT4 that is like a pony car. Can't remember the designation, just that it's OLD old.

I can't wait to buy it, buy upgrades for it, tune it, and race it with the latest GTR at SSR 7 in the rain!! Just like in Midnight Tune 3DX!! :D
 
I expected the mk6 GTI in there -- remember seeing a banner ad for it in one of the demo videos (yellow Gallardo, 24h Nurburgring course). It said something like "der neue Golf GTI".

Seems to suggest we'll get it in an update or as DLC
 
I've already written, in an another italian post, my opinion about all the delays; i remember, about one and a half year ago, Yama San complaining for the pressure ("it's untenable", i reply "it's a work, not an hobby and in the real world so much delays can bring to be fired up"); at that date i don't remember announcement about dinamic weather, car damage, premium cars and so on; i believe that, just for impress all of us with Polyphony mastery in programming, Yama San had make the decision to improve some of this features (weather and damage at least) in GT5, when, perhaps, the intention was to do this work for GT6; look at GT5 Prologue like a kind of a proof: no weather, no damage but absurd time penality; of course the Prologue it's "a still work in progress"; implementing, at the best possibility of the PS3, that features i think it's a really hard work and lead to stop almost every other kind of work; this can explain the lack of a lot of really interesting cars; another proof it's that, Yama words, developing GT6 will not be so long as for GT5. That's my opinion.
