I don't find it rubbish, maybe it's just one variation, it seems like it doesn't have a pitlane, just like London in Prologue.

Oh come on. No GT has ever been perfect to one person but great to millions. If this one track is going to make it bad then just don't buy the game at all. I know you will buy it and you will love it every way you can. Even Rome you will like though you will never admit it.

you don't know if the track sucks until you've driven it, yourself. There were some courses in other GT games that I wasn't sure about and they proved to be quite fun and challenging. Like Opera Paris and Seoul.

Opera is great. the only track i like to play in gt PSP. I hope it is there for gt5.

Monaco. SSR11 in GT3. GValley East in GT4. Etc.
New Rome..that just looks dull and boring...

I actually like it ,I love highspeed racing looks challenging considering we didn't see a clean lap so far

Fair enough, perhaps it is a bit "premature" to make comparisons.

My mind set is this: Would it make sense for PD to create "premium" fantasy cars? Or would it make more sense for PD to create real "premium" cars?

What is so important about racing through London or Paris or Rome or New York or Seoul?

Call it paranoia or whatever you like, but I think PD models so many fantasy city tracks from famous real world locations just to show off the graphics. A permanent purpose built racing course is usually just asphalt with trees around the track.

Your average casual Gran Turismo user will probably appreciate Rome or Madrid more then he would a legend track like Monza or Road Atlanta which aren't as impressive visually.

I cannot figure out any other reason why PD would spend the time and include such awful, bland city race courses.
My issue with your comments is that you are writing PD off as just focusing on these fantasy tracks months before the game has come out. If that is the case then, yes, I will agree with you 100% that I would prefer the opportunity to drive on real-world circuits. I have been wanting GT to get Road Atlanta ever since the first Forza's seemed off, and I have yet to see them do it in a way that feels like the track I have visited many times.

But on that note: I would rather not see a real-world track done in a way that I find disappointing. Do it right or not at all. If PD is not given the opportunity to properly map a track we can not hold that against them, and I would rather they not include it than put in a version that looks to be based on incomplete or old data.

Has anyone discovered evidence of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps being included? It's hard to understand why PD would include the Nurburgring GP circuit but not Spa?

I think this was confirmed a while ago, but it would appear from the E3 trailer, that the Top Gear track will be used for drag races and speed tests as well as a circuit. I don't think the main circuit runs across the runway markings.

Well thats one way to put it... Here are all the routes I came up with without deviating too much from the area. Some nice combinations of fast straights, sweeping corners and tight technical corners.

Alternate routes are obviously in different colours.

By the way, these are the two versions from GT2 and GT5. They share part of the layout.
I think they could be combined to form a larger track.

I doubt it. If you observe the high-resolution images of the new Rome circuit, you'll see that the old route is not detailed.

I don't know. Maybe there's some hope. Have a look here:

By the way, should GT2's Rome Night be included again, the original layout was loosely based on the roads in purple in the following screenshot.
Again, part of the circuit would be shared with Rome Track GT5 version.

Um, what's the pink line in this? Is that supposed to be Rome Night from GT2? It's not even close; they only have a vague likeness about them.

As odd as it may seem, yes. It's supposed to be Rome Night from GT2. Actually it's the track from that game with roads that make sense to use, that is, that aren't too narrow and properly connect to other ones.

The old track wasn't completely based on real roads (some sections are "deformed", or added), but wasn't entirely fictional either.
Although the GT2 layout differs a bit from the actual roads I showed on the map, I believe they are those from which Polyphony took inspiration.

They are located in the city historical center.
They pass near famous city features.
They pass near the Tevere river.
They show one or more obelisks.

This is a simplified layout of the "real" roads based on the Rome Night track layout I previously made, "forced" to be more similar to the GT2 layout. Don't you think it's what the track could have looked like? Except for the central section, the overall character of the circuit looks about the same.
Also it's near locations used for the GT2 and GT5 Rome Track and it's likely that Polyphony used roads not too far from those.

Of course, your mileage may vary.
