GT5 Master Track List (NOT a wishlist)

This layout would make for some amazing tracks-imagine driving through the mountains on a sunny day or with rain or snow! Heaven :)

You haven't seen the even more extended version I designed a few pages ago:

It's all up to PD, of course.
From the Times Square demo it seems that Eiger Nordwand had 4, maybe 5 variations, I wonder if they will be short insignificant ones, or long ones like these.
 
Those speculative Eiger Nordwand layouts look interesting. However, I think it would be even better if they expanded the layout towards Grindelwald in the opposite direction. Imagine some downhill sectors where Grindelwald is visible in the valley. That would be an aweome easter egg for Kleine Scheidegg.

Unfortunately Grindelwald wouldn't be visible from any drivable part around Eiger Nordwand/Kleine Scheidegg (unless there will be a road which goes on the top of the mountains there, which I doubt) due to the geology there:

However a (fictional, as there aren't existing paved ones - just walk paths) mountain road connecting the two locations would be possible and nice to see. From this road Grindelwald would be visible while going downhill:

Your suggestion about a layout which connects Kleine Scheidegg with Grindelwald would be just as good as it could bring back some sectors of the old track from GT2. It cannot be a coincidence that PD decided to create a new track just a few kilometers away from Grindelwald. They know that fans loved the Grindelwald circuit in GT2 so it would be weird to exclude the location from GT5 as they did an effort to make another track just around the corner.

It's similar to their introduction of the Belgian High Fens for the Course Maker. They know insightful fans will imediately think about Spa Francorchamps. So I hope it's some sort of way to reveal the second best to finally give us the best. Too early to make conclusions but PD does like to trouble our thoughts until the very last minute.

True, although the majority of their names are, in a way or another.
The only "outsiders" would be Pikes Peak (Pikes Peak Hill Climb, of which GT2 featured a short section) and Bandimere Speedway, a drag strip/karting circuit not too far from it.

It looks good but I can imagine this layout could cause a few headaches for the designers with the gradients and the amount of info (distant mountains, trees, crowds, houses, etc.). If its something like this or the short insignifcant ones, I guess we will have to wait and see.

Excellent work-i think coming downhill would be more pleasing to drive, as your view could be of distant mountains, and not the nearby shaded mountain.
Plus a car coming downhill at speed would be more fun than chugging uphill! :)

I haven't thought of that to tell the truth. However, after checking on Google Earth, due to geology and vegetation (trees) there aren't many places where large portions of the track would be visible. The only problem would be the scenery in a few places.

Going uphill on such roads in real life is more fun because it means that brakes are not too much used. Going downhill instead can often be very dangerous for the opposite reason.

I'll think about creating a downhill video by the way.

Just two minor observations of Tokyo R246, it doesn't effect game playability, but even with the latest builds, the track still is void of spectators & all the billboards still display only Polyphony Digital.
I believe PD logo on some of these billboards is being used as a temporary filler, in the final build other sponsors will fill these spaces. :)

Thats an amazing sight-breath taking scenery, even if its only digital! Very nice work Shirakawa
 
It was in GTPSP and it's strongly related to Formula 1 racing, so it's quite possible that we might see it in GT5 as well. Still not confirmed, though.
 
I am hoping Seattle and New York tracks make it either on release or as DLC. Its really frustrating not knowing what the track list is, and with the conflicting numbers reported doesn't help. The official Gran turismo UK website http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/products/gt5/ says 20 tracks and further down it says 20 locations. I am thinking thats an error, or that the website isn't maintained properly, nor updated to take into account recent reports on tracks in the game. Maybe I am reading too much into this :)

The idea about downloadable cars seems good to me but downloadable tracks would be less fitting if you ask me. GT Life is probably configured to use specific tracks for specific events. Logically that would mean that every track will play an important role towards 100% completion of the game. GT Life would slowly become outdated if they add more tracks that weren't included in the original layout of the game.

I assume that the game is structured in a similar way to what we know from GT1 - GT4.

Yes I guess you are right-looks like we will have to do with downloadable course maker tracks for now.
 
There are way too many great race tracks around this whole planet that did not make it onto the disc to not add new tracks via DLC. Everybody and their brother knows "online" is what makes games have staying power.

Why did a lot of people stop playing Prologue? I know i got board win the handful of tracks. Then there is the pathetic monkey that kept picking sucky online events every month for the last 2 years.

Online is crucial for a game to be worth it's salt. Single player is only to build your arsenal for online play.

I think the lack of diversity killed it. The car/track combo

I respectfully disagree. I don't buy any game for online. If it can't stand up on its single player, it's not worth buying.

Online is great as long as you can control the environment your in, which happily we will be able to on GT5.
Get tired of people using glitches and game sharks etc...
I will be playing GT Life mode for a long time.
I would also be just as happy with GT5 without online, although it's a nice addition.
