Got my new screens installed, projector aligned and both Forza and PC games with edge blend look awesome.

But no matter what I do GT5 will not seamlessly line up. The left most image is too narrow top to bottom and the right most image, while the perfect size, requires me to overlap the center image by over an inch, causing a much brighter stripe of image.

Projectors are back to factory settings, tried both 720 and 1080, all projectors are running identical settings, as are the PS3s.

It's so close to being perfect now and I'm having this stupid delay. Bah!

Any help is appreciated

Ensure all consoles are set to same res output from PS3 settings obvious I know...
Check however the oversan screen scaling option in GT5 menus it may be this.

Then double check the game reports that all are set to 60hz and 16:9 or 16:10 whatever your projectors use.

Hope it helps

Hmmmm, where do I check overscan screen setting in GT5. Since Forza and PC work fine it has to be the PS3s right? Very frustrating as I had this working flawlessly when I took everything apart for the new screens. I didn't change anything.

I did how ever introduce 3 HDMI switches. So in other words, I have 3, 3 port HDMI switches. The PC, 360s and PS3s each feed one input into one switch and then out to the three projectors. Hmmmm indeed.

Does each PS3 on dashboard appear correctly?

If so then you know for certain the problem lies in GT5s hardware menu settings.
Take the switches out of the loop and plug directly to each projector.

Be sure you have redone the PS3 HDMI sync when adding the switches.
Try this first perhaps before disconnecting them.

Yeah everything lines up perfectly. For instance if I go into bumper cam everything looks lined up perfect. As soon as I go into cockpit mode, nothing lines up. The left screen is to small and half the rear view mirror is cut off. And on the right screen I have to overlap by one inch in order to get it lined up.

Yet go back to bumper cam and its ok with the projectors lined up like normal. The exterior car views have the same issue. Only bumper cam lines up correctly.

Never seen this and make me want to chuck consoles in the trash and just go with PC and my blending software. Very frustrating as it was working perfect before. It would be a shame to get rid of the switches.

thanks

Did you go through the option setting in GT5 where you need to align the red rectagular box/line to the screen size.

To access the feature- in GT5>OPTION>Scroll down to DISPLAY>In Display go to Set Display Size (HD) from 90 to 100 (you'll see the red box/line as you dial the setting).

This may not be the problem but if you haven't adjusted it, you might want to try.

Yeah, they are all 100% I'll try again. The left screen is weird but the right screen is whats really bothering me how I have to overlap the images by 1".

The left screen is out of scale, the right screen is in scale but almost has a "double" image only along the seam that connects to the middle image. Gah, so frustrating. I should have just left everything alone. I couldn't be happy I had to go bigger. Sigh.

Turn off the multi screen feature.
Save goto main menu and shut down.

Do that with each console.

Then power up again and redo multi screen settings.

My days of GT5 multi screen are currently over my future is with PC.

Yeah I'm about to join you. Thankfully PS4 and Xbox 720 will do multi screen from one console and one game. About time.

hope your right but, how do you know this?

He doesn't, and if a triple display output IS possible it will be at major expense of overall resolution. I read a rumour a while back that Sony is working on a widescreen curved display that would mimic a triple monitor set-up, but haven't read about it since. Something like that could run off a single console, but native 1080p x 3 will most likely require 3 PS4's.

Before I embarked on my career in IT in the financial industry I was senior editor for VGA magazine. I still have several contacts at Microsoft and video game pubs in general. This is the consensus from them, directly from the horses mouth. Not set in stone but definitely being considered heavily for the next consoles.

Update.

I have reset the PS3, removed the HDMI switches and gone directly from PS3s to the projectors. Reset the projectors, basically everything as if it just came out of the box.

No matter what I do, the two side images seem to be zoomed in, while the center image has no zoom in effect.

The infuriating this is that when I end the race and go into replay mode, everything lines up perfectly and scaled correctly. Basically the cockpit view is hosed in triple screens.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forza and PC do not have this issue by the way so it isn't the AV equipment.

Rats, wish I had the missing piece of the settings puzzle, I'm looking to go triple 40" Bravia this summer and hoping to race cockpit view without these issues. Have you switched the actual left centre right projectors up and are you using identical PS3 models?

The two side ones are slims, the middle one is a fatty. But all this was working brilliantly last month. Have no clue at this point. Has to be something dumb.

Hmm, considering that it seems no one else has come on this forum with this issue, my next guess would have been that the last GT5 update may have thrown off something with the cockpit cam in triple display mode.... you should try using the fatty on the left or right projector if the issue remains the same, I'm guessing you've tried that though.

Please still give us a good review of the CSW with GT5 no matter what! This is GTPlanet after all. ;)

This is weird.

All PS3 same firmware and all GT5 to same updates?

I thought console gaming was meant to be plug n play, lol.

Yeah I noticed a GT update when I booted everything back up after it being not used for a month because I was updating my screens and hardware. Hopefully some people will complain and Polyphony will realize they messed up cockpit view because everything is identical to when it was working brilliantly.

I'm so pissed to, I was chomping at the bit to drive again. I was having withdrawls.

Now that everything is in place, the Dbox, my edge blending software, my new semi-curved screens, all I need is the CSW, and the CSP V2 and I've got some good stuff for you guys. :)

edit:Latte, its funny you mention this. ONLY THE MIDDLE CONSOLE UPDATED!!! Hmmmmmm, this is very curious. Why would only the middle console run an update?

Run the update as single connected console my friend Im certain this is your problem now.

Curved screens, just no stopping you eh... :)
Look forward to your updates and please for the benefit of us all get a nice wee camera...

Do you mean connect each console by themselves? How do I "force" an update? Wouldn't it update on its own?

The network and middle as server might of been the issue.
Turn off the multi screen feature, save, power down.

Go start the game again and update the game.

Thats me for now I'm off for a nice Chinese...

That is a shame. Your set up guide is superb! I love my GT5 triple screen set up. Use it several times a week, even though I also have triple screen Forza and PC.

Well Forza and PC work brilliantly. But PS3 refuses to sync the three screens. This is so bizzare. The left and right screen are off by inches on each.

This may be well off mate (I've removed consoles from my setup now) but I had what sounds like a similar issue with Forza at one time. Everything was identical on console and on projectors but wouldn't line up for love nor money...turned out to be an overscan option in the projectors which had defaulted to something (cant remember how) but it meant that I was lining up and zooming the image on the projectors with the screen but the image was not right cos the overscan was being implemented by the projectors.
You may not have an overscan option on the projector but dont discount it without checking IMO ;)

Yeah thanks buddy, checked the overscan on the projectors and they're all zero, but it definitely looks like the left and right screen are over scanned for sure, but how? Ugh.

On an unrelated note four actuator dbox is nuts.

Yeah I've completely taken PS3/Xbox out of my equation. After I played some SimBin titles with my 4 actuator Dbox setup I was like "WTF am I doing? The other games are cool but this is 100000000000000 times better" LOL

So I'm going PC only. I'll miss GT5 and Forza for sure because I still have friends who play it and we love the car design stuff and just the community. But I can't be bothered with setting up everything different every time I want to play PC then console. What a pain in the ass.

Anyway, who knows I might change my mind later but I don't think so. Just disappointing since I spent half my Saturday trying to make it work. Gah.

Since I'm getting a CSW and CSP V2 in a couple weeks, anybody interested in my CSR E since I won't need it any more? I might be getting rid of my Perfect Pedal G27 pedals as well depending on the awesomeness of the V2s. But I doubt it.

You like SimBin titles? I am not the biggest fan of their physics... or graphics. The have the best sounds in the industry though. For me its RBR, iRacing and rFactor 2 on the PC. Everything else is kinda... eh for me. The GTR games never clicked for me. GTR2 was phenomenal when it came out, but since then, SimBin never really got their sparkle back.

I think GT5 is worthy as long as you stay out of race cars and on comfort to sport tires.

I have all the PC titles, I just talked about the SimBin games as I still play them and their Dbox code is astounding. My move from 2 to 4 actuators is light years. With the two actuators I didn't get heave or yaw. And the Actuators were limited to the 2" travel.

With four actuators the heave is violent on hard braking, causing me to clench up LOL. The simulated yaw effect is also pretty awesome. Tuning will make this better. If you've got the 2 actuator system its really fun but the four actuator system destroys it. The travel is much greater, more violent and the transducer effects are through the roof.

GT5 is great and so is Forza, but I've been futzing with this for a few months now and to be honest the switching out of stuff and keeping the projectors perfectly aligned for consoles sucks.

edit:That being said, I know I'll fired up Forza and GT5 next week. LOL I'm weak.

I play SimBin games more than anything, they're awesome for many reasons IMO.
They hold their own graphically and whilst they're obviously dated they're more than adequate when racing in triple screen IMO. There are countless mods and add ons which are simply brilliant. I've been spending a lot of time driving things like Audio R15 TDi at LeMans as they're simply exhilirating and give the motion and bass shakers a solid work out..and the DTM (my fav class) at just about any track.

I've just bought Game Stock Car which is another that will get tons of play from me. I only got the game this week and I've just added an HDR mod (which is brilliant) and some open wheels mods and extra tracks.
These games really shine through with motion and tactile feedback. These are the reason I took my console out of the equation ;)

Mayamen, if you haven't tried it give Reizas Game Stock Car a go...you can d/l a 30 demo from the official site. The demo was too short as it took me ages to get it configured right, but it was enough to sell it to me...was only £20 GBP.
