GT5:P Dying Off?

Dont worry fellows with Christmas just around the corner just think of all the 15 year old punters that will get a PS3 GT5P pack under the tree,& we will have all that to look foward to.

Oh s**t... I'm afraid that is very true.

Could moderators take all 'gamesave-downloads' away from these sites, so they atleast need to do some practice to access to expert-events. Please.

Today it occured to me. Participation rates in races are at an all time low during the New Zealand/Australian daytime. Sure we get some crazy Europeans staying up until 04:00 in their time that we can race in the morning on the weekend, but for most of our day nobody is online. So cheer up, this means when the full GT5 comes out we'll be able to do all the offline events, buy all the cars we want, make the money to tune them, while all the Europeans are hung up online.;):sly:

GT5:P Dying Off?
it sure is. it's badly in need of some (or even one or two) new tracks

more cars not so much of a prob, because one fr is much like another. same with ff and mr

is there an rr in gt5P? an ruf rgt might spice things up. even better, a real porsche 👍

I fired up GT5P today and turned it off after just 5 minutes - its just so boring now.

Updates can't come soon enough.

R.I.P GT5P (until the next update)

Man even this thread died off. I have been really shocked at how much the NTSC ver has died off, most times when I try to race online have trouble even finding a race I can join. Boy looks like Christmas is only thing that will stir up interest again.

Yeah, I loaded the game up for the first time in a month or two, and I was surprised too. Its rare to find an event with more than one or two of those little people icons in it nowadays. PD needs to mix it up a little. 👍

dying off? i tought it was already dead... no seriously i still play it but its getting terribly boring doing the same 5 tracks and few cars

Maybe letting participation die off would encourage PD to do something to inject a bit of interest back in to the game... i.e. release a decent update! After all, don't PD want us playing Prologue so they can test out race events and review statistics for analysis?

Anyway, I too am playing it less these days (not for the above boycott reason!). The GTP custom events and community are what keeps me playing a little. Thanks guys! 👍

Yes i`ve noticed that of late there is almost no one online anymore. A combination of staleness with GT5P & the fact that xmas time is pretty hectic for everyone & let`s not forget the new games being released too. :guilty:

New events on Thursday! If they're good (not that these ones weren't but I never got around to it), and I find a car I like then Garage Showdowns might return! That should inject some interest.:P

Not all people that age are punters. I'm 14 and I'm a fast and clean racer. But I do know what you mean. I've got friends at school who are getting PS3's and GT5P for christmas who hate cars.

They need to bring a WE to the PRO level. This might help as I can't race with my friends from down under at this time.:)

What a thoughtful gift idea that is then, since they hate cars.

I agree with that,as it seems there is more interest with the PAL racers in GT5P.

Oh & mad94d I understand all young people are not punters, some such as yourself are some of the fastest& best racers out there. But Christmas will bring a whole new flock online.

PD have to be careful too. They are walking a very fine line with GT5:P. Us 'day one racers' will always lap up what they offer, but it is not us that makes PD the money, its the casual fans. Poor product support will only damage future GT5 sales, and thus future game development.

There's really nothing wrong with GT4, it's still a great game. I think though we're seeing the Osborne effect repeat itself. The name comes from a (once) famous computer manufacturer who was selling pretty good computers. They announced even better, faster, cheaper ones just around the corner so everyone stopped buying their current models.

Unfortunately the steep drop in income meant they ran out of money before they could release the new models and the company went under.

Pretty much that's what PD have done with GT4 and GT5P. They've killed off GT4 with the promise of GT5 but now no-one's playing any more (or presumably buying any copies) and they're not even close to finishing GT5.

You'd think with the Osborne effect so well known (and even taught in business school) that PD/Sony could've avoided the shot in the foot they've just given themselves but apparently marketing isn't their strong point :)

I completely disagree.

GT4 is a very old game so you can't expect it to still sell like the dickens. Its not even designed/made for the most current platform (PS3) so, with exception of the die hards, of course its not going to be bought and played as much. PD did not "kill off" GT4. It has aged normally and sold well (almost 10 million copies world wide).

Second, even if GT4 had sold poorly, Sony is a big enough company that it really wouldn't be hurt by its lack of income. They generate enough revenue in their other business ventures so this really isn't an issue.

Also, GT5 isn't that far from completion. Kaz has cited a release date sometime in 2009, so we are looking at no more than a year before we can all get our hands on a copy.

Tell them to play with there cuddly toys then :) im suprised how many poeple still play gt5p considering how small the game is, it just goes to show how good it is.

Hundreds of people play Live for speed. LFS has been around for 5 years and people still play it even though it started off with 3 cars and 1 track. at this time LFS only has 7 tracks and 20 cars. I know some of the tracks have variations but still you get less than GT5P but you still see hudreds of people play the game even though its much smaller than GT5P. LFS S2 costs almost half of what GT5P costs but you dont get half the graphics or cars that GT5P has. So this also shows how good that game is.

PD must have a trick up there sleave for the new year or GT5 is in trouble, We know they have more cars and tracks sitting on there systems doing nothing so why not just release them to us, surely they could easily adapt the GTHD cars to work as well as release the R33 GTR seen in many trailers for GT5p, and we also no they have tracks like le mans and the NUR in there locker due to it appearing at many events such as the NUR 24hr and LE MANS SERIES, and now HOME is out all be it a BETA surely they could release private rooms because I bet PD have had HOME for awhile now,

I would not be suprised that the deal to give us a new LOTUS, FERRARI & CITEREON meant that PD could not give us new cars until 2009 so that them cars get the publicity.

Ps I know there current NUR is basically a new rendered version of the GT4 one but if that was as accurate as they say then there is no problem, Give us some old skool GT tracks to would be easy or just a made up one, i dont care if its a representation of a real track or a real area of the world i just want straights and bends PD is that so hard!

And one more thing, has anyone noticed that now the RBE has gone it has also removed the penaultys so corners and walls can be cut, thanks PD i love watching NOOBS cut the s's on the back straight of daytona then crash into the wall on the exit with no penaulty MERRY CHRISTMAS to you too!

GT wont be in trouble, yes PD have more cars and tracks but if they gave us a new tracks everyone will be bored in a week and will want another one. So when GT5 comes out and we have say 50 tracks think how amazing its going to be woth 5x the number of tracks we have now.

Why will we be bored in a week, its taken 8months to get bored with 5 and I was playing 1 of them on GTHD plus london and the oval are not really used so in 8months I have been driving 3 tracks online (DAYTONA ROAD, FUJI,SUZUKA) with a limited number of competitive cars, Its begining to be a joke!

If it was not for the dodgy updates that delete car settings then I would of spent even less time on it, the lack of online members to race clearly shows PD have made a mistake! AT 6pm on a friday nte I should be able to play a race with more than 2 players in the UK never mind the rest of EUROPE and AUS.

In the past 8months the progress they have made is a joke, 3 new cars, 1 of which cant even be used because its PP are so high and another one which has a fixed final drive making it more slugish than it could be, not to mention a new ferrari that ferrari has clearly said, you can have this car if it will keep up with a GTR in the game, that car is stupidly fast and gripy, specially for a car with no roof.

Over the last 8months they have also altered PP to stop good cars being to good (lotus tunned, that used to be crazy fast in bends like it is for real but MR GTR dont like that) and they have added and taken away grip aswell as changing car noises a bit which is a plus, and there most effective update has been to let people down with promise's that dont come true so that the average online structure now even struggles to find enough people to find a race!

Does it matter were the people you race are from, GT5P started off with 30 something cars and now has 74 so they have added over 30 cars and your complaining that they update the game and change things, I would rather have a game with good physics and a few tracks than a game with loads of tracks and unrealistic physics. This game wasnt meant to be played 24/7 its just a taster of GT5.

Us in the UK have had spec2 for 8 months they would not give us spec 1 so since then we have had 3 cars, I would gladly race any nation I dont care, my point was I only get 2-3 people per race at peak times, yes I believe PD is the best console driving game and love the slick graphics and driving feel, but its worthless if the average race has 3people which 80% do, I should not have to wait for specific times to press start in hope I get a field of 5 plus, its boring as hell, and having no world event doesnt help, THERE SHOULD BE ONE MODE, REAL and if you cant drive on it easy enough, use TC,ABS & ASM like you would do in real life to help, why on earth do we need an easy unrealistic, supper sticky, impossible to crash mode that just means I have even less people to race against, I can understand you have different views we are different people, and I respect what you are saying. but me personally are getting fed up waiting, my mates gave up on them months back and are just going to wait for gt5, its a shame they could not give us enough of prologue so I could race with them now and mess around on the tracks we have. BUT HOME IS HERE SO IM EXPECTING TO SEE NEW FEATURES SOON, but if the past is anything to go by, it will turn up months late and fail to reach the hype that surronded it due to the long wait, just look at gta4, should of been could of be so much more!

What promises?

Decided to add a post here, dying off, yes, dead, buried and soon to be forgotten.
PD as done so much dicking around with the updates and not even coming close to giving us what we want, oh yes we got no RBE, but at a cost, now the idiot's cut corners etc and still manage to ruin people's races. Expert races should be expert races, there must be a way of limiting access to certain levels off the game depending on peoples ability, otherwise they may as well do away with beginner and intermed. levels and have all exert levels with all differing tracks and different pp.
I use to only race online, but had come to the point were it was no fun any more, you enter a race and find that the field will contain one to many muppets, whose sole objective is destruction and carnage. Even organised events here within the GTP will not necassarily mean a good nights racing, maybe the odd/several races, many a time after a 3-4 hour spell, I've turned the PS3 off after only competing in 2 or so decent races. Think the last time i really attempted to race online was T&L Star Wars event and that was a disaster for me, only managing to get into a few races.
So moved onto time trials, which i bloody hated with a passion. so much so that my attempt at the GTP registry qualifier was a half hearted attempt, and believe there's names in those divisions whose racing online talent deserves a higher placing. Anyhow took part in several IFTC and began to warm to that part of the game, big thumbs up to the hard work put in to the IFTC by the organizers, it can and does improve another part of your driving ability which is neglected in online racing, but even that as become tiresome, no one's fault just hard to find the fun in doing lap after lap.
My game set up as now been moved and packed up. Will i be back to do more races etc, not for some time if going by the rate of PD's lack of improvements or better still understanding what most people want for this game.
Out of here, bye

JP, could it be that because the current available decent events are at Fuji and Daytona where corner-cutting is actually a viable alternative? I remember much less of it being possible at Expert Suzuka events. That was where someone like yourself would shine and have superb races up front while the numpties fell by the wayside.

Come on son, you know if we get an expert Suzuka event we can drag you back for Lotus Evora Cup Mk II

All the best

I think Hyperuk's Evora Cup and T&L's Bond theme was the last time there was fun to be had racing online.
As for the corner cutters, maybe it is because those tracks offer that chance for the "numpties". Apart from the above events i think the last time people really liked what was on offer, was 600PP Suzuka, you could even race those nights and bump into the cream of GTPlanet as well as those well known names from other European countries
