I played for maybe 10 or 15 minutes last night, it finished downloading a bit passed my bed time.:D

I was not shocked at the difference, but it is a pleasant upgrade from before. The only thing I don't like it the ffb doesn't change while experiencing understeer, but it use to be like that before the update and in gt5p. But the controllability reminded me of my younger years riding sport quads(ATV's, 4 wheeler, or whatever you call them). Standing on the throttle now feels like standing on the throttle. And the grip level doesn't feel different, but the articulation of grip is way different and for the better.

Is it just me or does the snow rally have a lot more feel to it now?

That would be great. The Loeb snow even was a blast the first time I beat it and have been thinking of going back for another go at it.

I haven't seen any other comments on changes to snow or gravel surfaces. Can anyone comment on if this have changed?

When a fairly experienced drivers beat there old lap records without much effort using the exact same car with the same settings and in the same conditions, it is obvious that the physics have changed. He shaved a few tenths (0.471 seconds), not a few hundredths.

Just a remark, I never said that the time difference was due to physics change. I said the experience had changed due to Spec 2.0. So actually my time can be used in this case as an example that some cars on some tracks may not have changed their performance (time wise) that much (0,1% difference in laptime). Other combos, possibly - I haven't tried yet. ;)

All I know is I could never bet the Formual GT Event in A-Spec.

Played it again yesterday and won by a ton. Felt like the car had a lot more "feel" to what it was doing. I could tell right before it was going to get loose and correct it.

It was not to long ago that I tried before 2.0 came out either. So I know I am not THAT much better.

So I am going to vote that I like it! 👍

I hope this turns out to be true. I gave up entirely on that event after about 30 tries on one track and only managing 2nd at best.

There might be hope for me yet.

Like many have said before the new physics feel great the tires give much more feedback then before their feedback has more detail to let the user know where the limits of grip are. Braking in a straight line is very important if want minimize understeer I've felt before It was too easy to trail brake into a corner now it's not easy to do that. I'm also impressed when I would over rotate the car coming out of a low speed corner and the car would slightly oversteer on the exit. It seems the game can simulate when you start to put too much load onto the tires. Suspension feedback is great you can feel more road information through the force feedback now. How ever I do feel like the brakes feel a little numb its still hard to know where its threshold are. I can feel the car slowing down but I wish there was some way to communicate that feeling of initial bite and torque as you apply the brakes.

I have to agree.
I golded this Championship months ago and i can say that it was the toughest race in Aspec...you basically need 20 laps of precision so you dont spin out..or its over.
Last night, i gave it a whirl again in Fuji and i was surprised with what i saw...the car felt so much better! Every corner was easier to take on and it gives you that sense when you're losing traction so you can correct it. It felt like the downforce is there when you need it..I didnt tweak the settings, i left it as is, no aids, and driving on racing/hard tires.
Now I dont know if it's because they fully support g27s now, but the car feels good and it became one of my favorite cars to drive. So yeah, very pleased with the new physics of this game.

It seems it's much harder to ride the kerbs now (even with soft suspension) and the green stuff is far more slippery at times. Gosh this is becoming both mesmerising and addictive!

I would appreciate if both of you would test the your Fanatec wheels on event I've used for my testing described above. I would like to have some second opinions on this issue for purpose of possible improvements through communication with Thomas in the future. Thanx in advance! 👍

Well, I also have a G25 and a DFP, and I've never felt any understeer sensation from GT4 or GT5 in any of these three wheels. However, my Fanatec does portray understeer just fine in other sims, both on the PC and PS3, so the most basic process of elimination there pretty plainly suggests that this is something specific to GT. Overall I'm not terribly impressed with the Fanatec wheel, but the pedals are so much better that I've stuck with it. Next time I'm racing with the G25 I'll pay close attention to understeer sensations, just in case spec II added them but I can't feel them on my Fanatec. (Note: the cars I do motorsports with in real life are super "alive" when it comes to steering feedback, so I'm very accustom to real-life steering-wheel feedback, not just feedback in sim-land. When it comes to understeer lightening, no setting I've ever used, on any of my wheels, provides *any* feedback at all for understeer in GT4/5. Overall however, I do feel that the spec 2 feedback is better than the previous feedback was. I'm getting a lot more tactile experience now. So overall a good update as far as I can tell so far.)

I just wish they'd make the online physics identical to the offline physics. I can take turn 2 of Trial Mountain flat out offline, but if I do that online, or even go through a bit slower, I spin out.. I was using the exact same car as well.

I'll agree that the FGT is a different animal. I did not enjoy driving it before. In fact I didn't even finish all the FGT championship races. When I had enough points to win the championship I quit.

It drives better and it's got a cockpit view. Win-Win!

Amen to that. If anything even more finess is required now and it shows extremely with the FGT but also on far less powerful cars.

I agree that the FGT is a different animal after 2.0. It's perhaps the best racing i've had so far on GT5. The new handling plus the other AI cars actually acting like they are in the same race is exhilarating.

Dear Mr (or Mrs?) DAIR,

for somebody having registered yesterday, you might want to be more cautious with your phrasing. Yes, in this forum we call it 'breaking in' when talking about the first few hundred miles it takes a car to reach peak horsepower.

Thanks in advance.

Correct joined yesterday. Not Born yesterday.

Please not that I didnt just stumble onto this forum. I'm a long time visitor.

DAIR, what is with your attitude? I see you posting in several threads, using a condescending tone, talking down to other posters like they don't know anything and aren't as skilled as you. Among other experts, there are professional race car drivers on this forum.

When a fairly experienced drivers beat there old lap records without much effort using the exact same car with the same settings and in the same conditions, it is obvious that the physics have changed. He shaved a few tenths (0.471 seconds), not a few hundredths. Assuming you can put down a faster time than him in the same conditions, that doesn't prove anything about how the physics model has changed.

Forgive me for not sounding/appearing to be upbeat. I view comments/statements and respond to them. Much like how you're responding to mine.

Yes, I question some of the claims made on here about the physics. I simply dont believe the update has made the huge improvement that some seem to believe it has made. Its open to discussion... Is it not?

Someone posted vid claiming that the AI had been vastly improved. I disagreed with that claim. The AI is no more aggressive than it was the night before the update was released.

Anyway, as I've pointed out... Its all open to discussion. So please done rain down on me for expressing my views.

Thanks

How about Skid Recovery?

Off.

Believe it or not I love to play the game with all aids off. ABS is the only aid I leave on (Level 1.

Next update should include more details about the car during replays. I'll be saving it in the hope that day comes because I have a feeling some will think I'm telling fibs.

So far I've only tested one of my own tuned evo's it's has only a few mods but I can tell that lift off oversteer is more pronounced as weight transfer seems to be higher now!?! The cars suspension seems to be different too, the dampers seem too soggy compared to pre update tests and feels like it now needs to be stiffened more. It could be placebo effects of all the ranting about the new physics or it's could be real.

Other than this I have found very little differennce. As for other things like AI I have yet to see any difference as they still seem to be cowards and back off and not fight for a place.

I think suspensions gain more negative camber than before the patch when compressed/under load, at least visually. Try checking this out in replay-photo mode.

Correct me if I'm wrong but PD didnt list any changes to the physics. Thy had only mentioned changes to the Traction Control in general and to the Evo X's setup.

Is that right?

No. They specifically said physics and ai update.

Done 7'07 tonight. Will get pics up along with vid soon.

Car LFA
BHP Mods - None
Tyres - Sport Soft
T/C Off

7'07 on sport softs isn't really a so impressive lap time, Timpaqq done a 7'10 on sport HARD tires, that are the stock tires for the LFA. I myself can easily go under 7 minutes on sport soft tires, so...
