Hello everyone and PD

Was talking with some friends regarding what we'd love to have in GT5 to increase the racing action and make it be more realistic and I suggested a "Pit crew mistakes", a Friend suggested it might be like medium speed with mistakes or slow speed with no mistakes, a lollipop man mistakes would be nice too, and crossing the white line at pit exit. Penalties during races to be served as drive through penalty.

I wonder if this was discussed before? Or is it new? Well P.D announced years ago that they can implement working pitcrews. So yeah its possible to see them in GT5.

Latest image of nascar having pitcrew:

theres nothing fun about losing the race because of some random roll the the dice chance, lets just hope we left the auto pilot back on the ps2.

they could do some interactive pit crew where a sequence of buttons determines ur speed. but if they did that i;d pray they'd have an option to turn it off, and just do regular pit stops were everyones are fractionally the same

Quicktime events, or Press X To Not Die. They wouldn't go over well.

Sequence of buttons!!!! it's not a kids game my friend, it's a racing simulator and yes you could loose a race due to a mistake from the pit-crew...That's racing

Totally agree with you... 👍

I thought the pit crews in GT4 were done quite well to be fair. I mean, for the limited space and graphical content they were allowed, you'd struggle to find a more highly made model. With 16 cars and each with a dynamic pitbay that we can all see, its going to look unreal.

Would also love to see a pace car. Codemasters have crapped on in their new f1 game that it lowers the experience but I think the opposite. They're an integral part of Nascar and they can change the whole complexion of a race in an instant. I'm not sure it would be that hard to implement either.

Own your pit crew and train them as you do drivers in B-spec. New crew is sloppy and slow, pro crew is tight and quick. Also it'd be nice to turn off autodrive in the pits. More interesting to stop in a pitbox yourself.

I say just keep it simple drive in the pits press the speed limiter button on the controller or wheel and obviously if not and you go over the speed limit a penalty of a drive through will be given. This will be a black flag over the HUD until you complete the penalty.

As far as other penalties in racing ooohhh I would love the option to turn on the safety car for the big wrecks.
Or
Local Yellows no passing.

Cars a lap down get the blue flag when a faster car on current lap is about to pass, the AI moves over off line to let you through. 👍 I really like that.

Yea, and penalty for driving above the pit speed limit!

I never liked the interactive pitstops in the F1 games and hated it even more when I got a wheel. Player control in the pitlane has a lot of scope to go completely wrong although maybe making the player slow to pitlane speed before crossing the line (The more you're over the limit, the longer your pitstop takes) and hitting the accelerator when the lollypop is lifted (too early and pitstop takes longer/too late and you just lose whatever time from your slow reaction) but your car's still under auto control while in the pitlane could be a good compromise.

I hope the pit stops are like GT$,

The auto pilot gives you the time to set your preferances. (tyers and amount of feul maybe some suspention adjustments) Esspecially if we get dynamic weather you can't just swap your rubber, you'll need to choose between intermideate or full wets.

The button sequence would be an option to determine the time needed for the pit stop. 👍

That's exactly what I was thinking that we should have! It would be the best and most realisic way of implementing it, rather than pressing buttons to determine the speed at which the pit crew works, which is good, but not for a game like GT.

Also, I think that there is a need to be able to drive through the pits yourself... it adds to the experience: having to slow down for the pits, maintaining speed, driving correctly into your pitbox, leaving safely, not exceeding the speed limit before crossing the final line, and also the not crossing the white line after the pits. A 'simulator' needs such elements, since they really happen! As for making decisions regarding what tyres you wish to have fitted, that could potentially be done whilst driving, using the up & down buttons on the d-pad. As for deciding how much fuel you wish to have pumped into the car, this ought to be done in the same way as it was in GT4.

Finally, slightly off-topic, you should be able to choose whether or not you want to use analogue controls or the d-pad, so that one or the other can then be left free for things like being able to change the brake bias (I'm not sure if you can do this already through supported racing wheels) and the traction control (which can be done through wheels, but not through a controller).

Probably won't see much, if any of this in GT5, but it would be an awesome inclusion in GT6.

for some reason i thought there was already pit crew quick time buttons but maybe im wrong. i would think it would be pretty simply to make in the game....but maybe on the other hand not since ya know there will be over 1,000 cars in the game. :D

btw i keep on trying to make new thread but all i get is this.........

zork123, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

why?

You need 100 posts before you can start a new thread in the GT5 section. It stops floods of threads posting the same thing

On another note i think that there are going to be pit crews they were in GT4 after all, it will most likely be the same as past games auto drive to the pit pick your options and watch a small cinematic while work is done

I hope not imho! I always hated that feature in F1CE! ymmv
:scared:

Yeah that's what i think too, but personally i have no problem with that, i just can't wait to see the greasemonkeys get to work! :P

ok thx. tbh i didnt realize that gt4 even had pit stops. i didnt own a ps2 then either tho so thats the reason. lol

I'm looking foward to see pit stops in GT5 hopefully they will be good.

Agreed. For GT5P I have the analog sticks for driving and directional button for aids. A quick interactive menu using the aids buttons works well for my kind of setup. Also it'd be nice to have the option to separate controls. Example, the right analog stick is accelerate and brake. X and square are also accelerate and brake. I'm not saying permanent separation, just the option to leave both connected to the same function or separate their mappings to give them use for other functions.

make the penaltys fair instead of using the annoying prologue penalty system

Proper black flags would be appreciated on top of the new consequences.

A full set of racing flags would be a good yellow, green, blue, black etc the oil flag may even be possible if the damage system is advanced enough to simulate oil spills (doubt it though)

I hated the penalty system in prologue a lot of the time you got penalised for just brushing a wall or when someone suddenly cuts you up giving you no time to slow down enough to avoid it

It wasn't that bad for the penalty system. Ironically I never got a "cut-off" penalty. What's annoying is that the penalties aren't across the board but only when you get to S-Class. I hope if they implement penalties they do it across the board.

PD this time Please allow us to see the glorious work you have done in Pit Stop animations while in Replay mode instead of forcing bumper cam. Thank you.

Cant wait to see a full NASCAR grid pull in 25 laps in to pit, orchestrated chaos.

Furthermore, the inclusion of Service Park for Rallies would be much appreciated, to fine tune the setup for each day, one service per day if im not mistaken.

So far up to this point weave seen very empty pit areas & on some tracks such as Tokyo R246, not even spectators. With the exception of the CG animations of masses of pit crews in the trailers, I expect we will still see only our own own pit crews in motion, but not others. With all the dynamic weather/time transition taxing the PS3, I think it will be limited. The penalty system was one aspect of the game I was curious about, will be carried over from prologue or a new flag system. :)

Black and white flag would be nice. I think. If its the one I'm thinking of, its like a warning for unsportaman like conduct?

Would defentley add to the realism of the game in my opinion.

Yeah the black and white flag is unsportsmanlike behaviour, black flag is for penalties or disqualification if i remember right.

As long as there is a good penalty system in GT5 that works realistically unlike GT4 or GT5P. I never liked the whole cut engine power for 5 seconds if you just brush a wall, adding a few seconds to a final lap time would be more realistic or even in extreme cases a forced pit stop
