Hello I'm french and I saw the 14/20 of JV.com...this site gave 18/20 to NFS Hot Pursuit 2 so we cannot thrust them.

For me the reference french site is http://www.gamekult.com/. I'm waiting for their test.

There is no friendship with the editors, they gave a very harsh review of heavy rain : 6/10

But I think they are fair unlike jeuxvideos.com

Sorry for my bad English.

If a team that has worked hard for 6 years perfecting and raising the bar for the genre and they get this kind of review. What a bunch of ignorant reviewers the game is not perfect but they even don't like the gameplay .Yes I am angry these guys are supposed to be professional no wonder why you guys don't listen to reviews.

Thats not a review anyone will take notice to, it wont even be on metacritic. Wait for the real reviews. That guy obviously is into arcade racing, not sim.

anyway I'm sorry to say that to you guys but the game is not "perfect". There is a lot of deceptions of french GT fans...the game value is not 20/20 or 19/20 but certainly not 14 too...

Well no game is "perfect", so thats not how reviewers should rate games. It doesnt matter if the standards dont have interiors either, they are basically a bonus anyway.

Although I would like to see consistent 9's, the game clearly has many issues from a weak array of tracks, repeated standard cars to bloat the numbers and very inconsistent graphics, I believe 7's will be the final average.

How they mean that GT5 have same sound as it was in GT5P ?? We all know sounds got improved a lot .. That 4players site don't have idea what they are talking about, its obviously something fishy here..

Yeah, and you will be eating crow. It won't average in the 7's, not even close. every game ever made has inconsistent graphics.

Those issues are miniscule at best. I think that you have been looking at the "bad" so much that you are getting it mixed up with how the game will actually be.

Funny how you mention a couple small annoyances, and neglect the wealth of content, good the game had. every game has a few sore points.

I wish it was different but I realize that the "wealth of content" is in areas most reviewers and casuals will not care much about. The "small annoyances" are in areas they will and the scores will reflect that.

I have the game now and I can assure you all that there are a lot of problems. Just go to the european GT-forums (I was looking into the german one) and you will see how dissapointed many of the owners are.

The graphics are only good regarding premium cars the rest of the game is of surprisingly low quality. I like the physics very much and the career mode is the best you will find in any racing game, but the graphics are horrible sometimes.

For example, there is not a single well made shadow, they are even wrong on the track itself in the middle of the road (play the madrid circuit and you will see what I mean). All textures seem to have wrong gamma values you have to go to the options and change it (not only a problem for me). Standard cars are so bad that I immediately sell them if they are a price for a completed competition.

2D trees are a joke, PD cannot be serious about these. They are not only flat but also have low quality textures and are often flawed. The houses on the city courses are looking like cardboars and there is some serious tearing going on. I have never seen such tearing in any other game.

What is also strange is the fact, that many details seem to be worse than they were in GT5P. And I have played prologue the whole last week so I can judge the difference.

Oh and my G27 does not allow me to switch back to reverse gear with the paddle shifters, another guy in the german forum cannot remap his G25 and the PSeye Camera is totally useless (does not recognize the important small movements of your head).

Yeah, right, another over exaggerated EMO post. sorry, forums are where people go to complain, all forums are like it, someone always complains about something. Graphics look great on My ps3. Whats worse then prologue? thats just moronic comment.

Why do all previews, others playing the game not have said issues?

this guy is so one sided and bias that he picks at even the most obvious of the good points of GT5 saying that the game having 1000 cars is a bad point yet when he reveiwed forza 3 he talked about the 400 cars being "...more than enough to occupy the player very long hours"
And yet he also picks at the graphics on the cars of GT5 yet the premiums are clearly more detailed, and better 'put together' than those of forza.

These people should not be game reviewers.

It's amusing to see you guys hate on jeuxvideo, seemingly unaware as to just how respected they are, by gamers and developers alike. It's time to stop the bullcrap, the game is great but it's not perfect. Opinions will vary.

No game is perfect, no one said it was. It's not a 7/10 game, thats kane and lynch territory. Don't care how respected they are, it was a poor review. Need for Speed over Gt5? Yeah OK, go back to mario kart and let the pros review a real sim.

Update : 23 novembre 2010 : First review is up with résumé !

The first review of GT5 is finally up !
http://www.jeuxvideo.com/articles/0001/00013884-gran-turismo-5-test.htm
The French gamers were the first to receive the games (french retailers didn’t respect the release date of the game) so it comes as no surprise that the first review is a French review too ! from a very famous (IMO the most famous) popular and old gaming website in france : www.jeuxvideos.com (generally I like the reviews of this website, they are generally fair and rarely extremist, I like especially the very useful users review scores and comments)

But unfortunately their review of GT5 is unprofessional to say the least (I suppose the reviewer Ravaol is not into simulation racing games, but that’s just a hypothesis with no proof lol), I wrote this résumé of his review so you could judge by yourself :

Graphics : 15/20
The game is fluid and overall good looking, but a lot of glitches, aliasing (on shapes, on shadows…) and graphical problems (pop ups, pixelisation of some texture…), the outside of tracks aren’t detailed, and weather is not as impressive as in trailers, visual damage is limited and disappointing…

Gameplay : 14/20
The most disappointing aspect of the game, outdated gameplay designed to gtfans only with no innovation and similar to other gt games. Can we still take turns backing on other cars or track fences ? yes we can. Can we still cheat and cut turns and drive out of asphalt without any punishment ? yes we can (except in online races). The AI is still following the exact same line no matter what you do bumping on you or ou bump on it ? yes its still like the old days…damage is very limited and only on premium cars… the outside camera view has very limited sense of speed (unlike the good sense of speed of cockpit), you cant see too much when racing at night which makes the night races frustrating and unplayable…and cars feel rigid like old gt days, and applying gt gameplay to karts is a bad idea…and rally as always not very good… the good thing with gameplay is that each car feels distinguishable...

Durée de vie (Lasting Appeal or content or durability of the game) : 17/20
A lot of content but little substance (why 1000 cars when we will only drive a hundred of them and a lot are variables of the same car with inconsistent quality premium 200 with very limited disappointing damage that needsto play suicide mission to get some effects and the other 800 are standard with no damage and no cockpit view), also not a lot of tracks, and weather/day night not on all tracks…the online is disappointing, very simplistic, not well designed (when you finish a race you return to the main menu…) and with a lot of connexion problems…

Sound : 15/20
Variable quality like the whole game, disappointing sound effects, inconsistent engine sounds (some are great and some horrible).

Overall score : 14/20
After 5 years of development time and waiting, GT is no more the real driving simulator, it is outdated compared to other racing games especially its gameplay, it is designed to gtfans only with very little innovation, but that’s not to say it’s a bad game, it’s still a simulation game that conserves a personality and captures the essence and variety of cars.

Now to my humble personal comment about this first review of GT5 :

I think the review is unprofessional, the reviewer has no idea of what he is talking about whe he insists that gameplay in GT5 is outdated...he clearly has a restricted vision of what is gameplay in a racing simulation, he underestimates the importance of gameplay physics in a simulation racing game, he says the gameplay is outdated because you can cheat without consequences, thats only a small part of the gameplay experience, the most important part is the driving expericene (he has also repeated the now cliché and not so accurate description about GT games being driving games and not racing games), the gameplay physics of GT5 are among the best in the world and he is wrong when he says gameplay is outdated and cars feel rigid... contradicting himself when he says that each car feels distinguishable..how the driving of cars is satisfying, cars feel distinguishable (thats the gameplay physics) but the cars feel rigid and gamplay is outdated ?! thats a huge contradiction that suffice to make this review unprofessional and biased...

yes, the premiums look WAY better than the car models on any other console game, but the standards make up 80 percent of the car list, so they make up the majority of the game. overall impressions shouldn't be about 20 percent of a given feature, they should be about all 100 percent.

Agree. You can always count on them for experienced and unbiased point of views. I commented on their video yesterday, and they replied that they have the review copy in their hands.

the online is disappointing, very simplistic, not well designed

The last time I checked, NeoGAF went boggles on the Online features. :dunce:
