No leaderboards? Kaz did state that the online was their jewel in the crown so to speak.
If that's true,I'm flabbergasted.

Different type of games to begin with, different reviewer (I think) and, maybe, if it was the same reviewer they prefer arcade style racers.
Those who kept playing GT4 whilst waiting for GT5 and haven't played Forza will be wondering what im on about. However those who have moved with the times will agree with me.
Looked through all the menus and I couldn't find one leaderboard. Im just hoping PD are going to release these and other online features via a download. If they don't then like you I will be flabbergasted. No leaderboards? Kaz did state that the online was their jewel in the crown so to speak.

Were you able to turn off the Skid force crap off yet?
Or is it really that simple compared to LFS
It actually bugs me - no matter if this game is better than Forza 3 - Turn10 never at any point said - oh by the way you only have 25 cars you can change the wheels / damage / cockpit / and the other 600 are Forza 1 cars ported. That is why reviewers are biased. That is also a reason not to listen to any.
Yeah just what is going on here? I'm amazed there are no leaderboard at all to speak of.
When you Platinum this one you are a leader ...
I got the game yesterday (Subway contest) and have been playing it for hours now. I'm not sure why some are shocked by the reviews. The game is clearly designed for GT fans. It's fairly evident that PD didn't set out to make it appeal toward people that weren't interested in the series before. Instead they pushed it more to being geared toward those of us that have already loved it. If you're in that boat then you're going to be perfectly happy with it. If you're not then your opinion of the series probably isn't going to change.
IGN review: "Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game"
gamepro review: "despite my criticism I know I love GT5, and I'll be playing it for months, and maybe even years. But deep down, I know that while it's the best racing game out there, with just a bit more focus in some key areas it could have been even better.""
Seems like most reviewers out there do agree one thing, as a driving "simulator", it does it's job perfectly and that's what Gran Turismo is going for.
I've played all GT games and would consider myself a GT fan but im disappointed. Due to moving with the times and not remaining in a time warp i've come to expect certain online features. At the moment the online side of the game is a joke and I actually think GT5P was better and even that was very basic. The days of only playing single player are a thing of the past. The gamers of today expect a solid online experience. Infact with some games some people don't even bother with the single player and only play multiplayer.
If your time machine is stuck in the year 2004 you will be happy. If you have moved with the times then you will be disappointed with the online features on GT5.
"Unless the later stages and the online sections (inoperable at the time of writing) can utterly override the problems - perhaps by loading an entirely new game I haven't seen yet - GT5 is going to be the monolithic headstone for a once-great series."
Can you elaborate on this? What makes the online part so sub-par? I personally never judge the online portion of games within the first few days of release until things get ironed out.
I thought the (currently scoreless) SixthAxis review was very good: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/11/24/review-gran-turismo-5/
Can we host our own private races?
Leaderboards yes/no?
I think eurogamer mentioned that in online races, cars are not restricted. you can bring to the table anything you want. In a public lobby we will probably be swamped with X1's and 1000bhp monsters.
