They do a good job with reviews across PS3, Xbox360, and PC versions of games. I do not expect bias from these guys (and Jessica!).
:)

I will watch it, but I have never seen them say anything bad about a game (or anything for that matter), so I don't really think they are critical enough.

"The bad news is that you'll have to wait until next week for our verdict – at 12:01 PST / 8:01am GMT on Wednesday, November 24th to be precise." -IGN

Makes it sound like the online mode wont be up until Wednesday morning. That surprises me, most of the time its up a few days before.

I am curious... if they are going to release their review 1 minute after release day starts, how exactly does that give them time to dig into online play for the review to be final?

I can't wait to see the 9's and 10s and 5 star ratings for GT5 from most of the sites...and then you'll get the odd ball that will whine and bitch about stuff like "there's no livery editor, it took 5 years, not every car has a cockpit...and...and it's not Forza."

There was a couple reviews for GT5P that were essentially that. (I think gamespot was one of the stupider ones....they even complained about the cockpit saying it was "in the way")

And everyone will just be like "Alright, fanboy, if you like Forza go play it, but leave the rest of us alone."

I agree, they take a very long time to say not much and the game reviews I've watched aren't very critical of things like accuracy, physics and force feedback, which should be the number 1 topics for the sim racing crowd.

Also they waffle alot so I've stopped watching it unless they actually look at a sim, wheel or event I'm interested in, somehow they have nearly an hour long show which only has about 15 minutes of actual content :P But their feature on SEMA recently was really good, the first show in a while I've actually watched through.

It wouldn't be fair to score it as missing features because it's only done on some tracks. It's an added feature not a removed one, it's better than nothing. Forza 3 scored very high and it had no night racing or weather effects at all. To me reviews don't really matter too much unless they're all very low or all very high. If you like a game do you really care if some other guy thought it was a 7 at best?

This is exactly what I've been thinking. If Forza 3 did as well as it did with critics, GT5 should be no less. The one thing I hope critics don't do is base their ratings off of the hype and expectations, rather than the game's own merits.

Impossible at this point. PD's own fault for this.

Oh so Fan boy users then .The one review I think will be most unfair is the IGN one .Still remmember the GTPSP review 👎

So ,because GT5's hot and not Boom, the users are fanboys? GT's a big game, yes, but it's little compared to the big stuff like Black Ops, GoW3, MoH etc. which are all multi-platform games.

And although the GTPSP review was not very good, as they were comparing it to it's console counterpart, and not showing how it was compared to other games on the PSP, and rating it low because of not having a GT mode, the guy clearly said at the start, that he was a huge fan of the series.

All the review copies are already in reviewers' hands, they just can't post their reviews because the online component hasn't been opened yet. But we all knew that, didn't we?

Truth is, unless the game gets 9+ scores, most of you will bash the reviewers. You're GT fans or racing fans. The reviewers are for most part trying to be informative to the casual gamer or are not tied down to specific genres and can therefore be, hopefully, objective.

Just because they are fans of racing doesnt mean that they cant have an opinion on a review whatever the score might be.

@PETER, your ignorance is Astounding, you know that GT4 sold over 10 mill right? More then ANY HAlo game. God of War wont break 4 mill, gt5 will break 10 easily. Only black ops which is on MANY platforms will sell more. Research is your friend. Gt5 is one of the biggest franchises around.

MOH barely did 2 million, lol. Gt5 will do more in 1 week, please.

Who told you reviewers have no access to the online portion of GT5 ?

I am pretty sure reviewers have access to online in GT5 (special accounts/servers) unlike people with leaked copies of the game...if not, than maybe the online will be opened before the release of the game, or else reviewers wont be able to review the online functions of GT5, which is bad for review scores...

Halo 3 sod 12 million copies :)

According to VGChartz, Halo 3 sold 11.2 million. GT4 sold 10.58 million and GT4 Prologue sold 1.36 million.

Gt3 sold 15 mill, more then any halo game. POINT is saying Gt is not BIG is one of the more ignorant posts I have seen in awhile. Saying GOW 3 or MOH were bigger was pure comedy.

Review scores shouldn't really affect your perception of the game, it's only your own hands-on experiences and whether you enjoy the game that count.

Did you even read the post I quoted?

Just for fun I think we should predict what each individual publication gives it:

Here are a few guesses from me:

IGN = 93%
Gamespot = 8.5
Gametrailers 90%
EDGE = 9

Overall metascore 91/92

I bet my soul Gamespot won't give anything above 9 for GT5.

IGN. They said they wont finish their review till the online portion is available. So if IGN doesnt have access, no one does.

I would have thought that reviewers and people testing the code would have some sort of access.

Can't see them opening the network without some sort of testing before hand.
Anyhow IGN said they have sunk many hours into it already. I imagine that the offline review is already written up.

IMO a reviewer shouldn't be let anywhere near GT5 unless they are a sim driving game fan.

No reviewers opinion is more important than your own but a review would be worthless if it was, for example, being compared with Burnout.

Are there any members who subscribe to UK Official Playstation Magazine? It's due on shelves on Wednesday with the GT5 review but subscribers should get it early. If anyone does get it please post it here.

reviews are weird

sure they can tell you about the games features and pros and cons ect.

but you dont always share the opinion of the reviewers...

i see alot of games that people love that i hate. like fifa and such... fallout 3.. ect

No doubt PSM will give GT5 a 10/10.

SO you are telling me that Assasins Creed,God of War,Hot Pursuit,Little Big PLanet (all in the Boom category)are bigger titles than GT5 .How is that exactly.

IGN reformed their ratings. They only give ratings that end in a 0 or 5. So 10.0, 9.5, 9.0, 8.5 etc.

Forza 3 got a 9.4 on IGN. I'm willing to be GT5 will get a 9.5, but I could see it easily getting a 9.0 because of some obvious criticisms.

So...
IGN: 9.5
Gamespot: 9.0
Gametrailers: 9.3
EDGE: 9.0

Metacritic Score: 94.
