Most people want to race online. So if there is to be DLC tracks, 1 of 2 things need to happen:

1. It's free so everyone can race everyone.

2. If paid DLC tracks, you can only invite friends or others that also have paid for the track.

Kazunori Yamauchi has stated very clearly that option 2 will never happen, because it totally crashes with PDs vision for the GT series.

That's what I'm thinking. I think tracks will all be included. And cars would probably be sold in packs or like 99 cents a car. PD would never let someone not be able to enjoy a track because of money. Like if you dont have that sweet car cause you can't afford it, then fine. But, if you can't play with your friends on a track cause you can't afford it is just mean.

I'd love to see a figure of total people who bought GT5 and still play it, say once a week. I know sales figures are always brought up in most Pro-GT arguments, but near on a year after release, I think they are nearly irrelevant. I'd almost be willing to bet that over 50% of people who bought the game, no longer play with any regularity

Well, I can give you this statistics from Time Trials.

Non-bronze time often ranks you around place +/- 50000, so you have to presume how there are more than 50.000 players that are entering the particular TT with unique PSN ID.

Since one-trade-per-day limit was imposed, number of players that are playing with the multiple profiles was drastically reduced (I used to play with 6 profiles simultaneously, now I play only with my original profile, same with 90% of members in my GT community, counting like 120+ members).

So, we can pretty much say how more than 50.000 unique players are constantly coming back to the game, at least as online portion in concerned. Notice you can have only one registered time on TT per PSNID profile, so those numbers are pretty much accurate.

And although you may think how 50.000 is not such a big number (it is less than 1% of the official sales result) I can assure you how having 50.000 player regularly coming to play Time Trial online portion of the game almost a year after release is gargantuan success in the terms of driving genre - and not just driving genre.

However, those the the accurate numbers regarding ONLY weekly entries of the online portion of the game. So, we can only expect that actual numbers for people playing the game in various modes are much greater.

Noob question is a totally different disc or you can download it on PSN with some $$$ and what is spec 2.0?

No, Spec 2.0 is just like the updates we have been getting for free. Except this update is going to be much larger. And there is going to be some stuff that you can buy as well, but it will be optional.

That would be ideal. The problem I see arising from having Tire Temperature/Wear and Fuel Consumption in Practice/TT mode is fairness. People who have less time to spend doing laps until the fuel is fairly depleted and the weight of the car has dropped, will not be as competitive against those with more time (or found a way to cheat).

They just need to let you choose how much fuel to put in before you start surely?

Got this link from praiano63, re-posting it here:

Pretty old, but could this be in store for us?

Eek, posted that one too quick, did some research and it's easy to see it was a sham. Sorry I just added to the hype train.

Well, in an attempt to make my post not completely useless; it's a nice car isn't it? ... coool . x)

Dude, this is a report-worthy post, I'd cool off - and edit it - if I were you... just a heads up.

Anyhow, as others have remarked - why am I usually fashionably late to the parties around here? - this is going to be something major in many ways. Spec II in Prologue increased the content and features tremendously, and I expect some big changes and additions. I suggest the easily excited and impressionable ignore my wish list. ;)

Spec II
  • Massive increase of A-Spec and B-Spec events.
  • XP system overhaul, perhaps even deleted.
  • Improved bot A.I.
  • Comprehensive stat tracking database, including records for each race.
  • Possible DLC in the update, including a track or two, a number of cars, optional wheels for Standards, and other things.
  • The Paint Shop will now have a range of paints for sale! Imagine that. :D
  • Standards to have a cockpit view (black interior) with basic dashboard.
  • Adjustable driver views.
  • Additional bodykits, including those for a number of Standard cars.
  • Massive increase in Race Mod car list.
  • A basic Livery Editor.
  • Improved damage.
  • Improved physics, most noticeably Rally physics.
  • Improved Dealerships, Used Car lots and tuning options.
  • The classic tuning adjustments from previous Gran Turismo games return, with additional features including tuning saves.
  • Save in pits in any race.
  • Event Generator, both off and online, including prizes.

  • Massive overhaul of the online system with numerous additional features, Race Series Designer and Event Generator, leaderboards, sharing and selling system, and other goodies.
  • Improved Photo Mode.
  • Improved Course Maker.
  • Drag racing and Touge.
  • More more MORE! :dopey:

DLC
  • Tracks from all previous Gran Turismos offered, and will incorporate in single player offline games with included patches.
  • New tracks to include Dubai, Brands Hatch, Spa, Hockenheim and Batthurst, as well as American courses. Tracks will be themed to provide racing in different leagues such as DTM and BTCC.
  • Car packs such as Standard to Premium updates, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other supercars, race cars, classics. Car packs will be large, 20 or more.
  • DLC will either be free or affordable. I expect some freebies.
Whew... hyping myself a bit much, but... who cares! Whatever it will be will be pure chewing satisfaction. :dopey:

And for a quick edit, I wouldn't expect dozens of tracks and hundreds of cars real soon. Remember, 6 man-months per car, up to 2 man-years per Premium track, so I'd expect the Gran Turismo Standard tracks to be offered in any numbers first, with a new Premium track here and there. And Standards to be converted to Premiums at an apparent snail's pace.[/QUOTE

http://gamerlive.tv/article/gran-turismo-5-spec-20what-could-it-be

Expanded Tracks From Around the World: If there's one thing that Gran Turismo 5 is known for, it's for its world famous tracks, whisking you away to Rome, Germany and other memorable places to prove your racing mettle. Spec 2.0 could easily open this up with a variety of new raceways, including possible Daytona circuit race locations (since that mode is in the game) and a few smaller venues to make us really feel like we're traveling in style. We shall see.

More Cars: This is practically a given. Gran Turismo 5 has no shortage of cars, but nothing beats having a few more around to park in your garage and take on the open road. Over the past few months, Sony and Polyphony Digital (the game's developer) could have easily signed deals with a number of manufacturers, allowing their rides to be inputted virtually into Gran Turismo 5's world. Some fantasy cars wouldn't be out of the question either. And we don't mean flying cars, but cars we always wanted to race, like the rarities that were previously included in the game.

More Modes: Gran Turismo 5 has plenty of modes to choose from, including the ability to direct races and coach on the sidelines and, of course, take on others online. Spec 2.0 could easily pave the way for a new racing mode, such as a virtual GT Academy or any other given challenges to keep your foot on the floor. It'd be great to see what other racing modes could be included. How about a drag contest? (And no, we don't mean guys dressing like girls, we mean drag RACING.)

Better Online Integration: There's nothing wrong with how GT 5's online play is now, but better integration could pave the way for improved features, better performance...it could really open up a whole new racing world. Just a thought.

The Kazunori Challenge: Hamayuchi is always talking about he's so privvy at racing, and how it pumps in his blood. So why not include a mode where you can challenge him directly and see what he's made of? Hell, we'd take on a Polyphony Challenge if it was handed to us. We're ready! (We think.)

Was this in GT3? I have not played GT3 in well over 5 years but I think I remember in arcade mode in time trial you could try to beat Kaz's time. Anyway would love to see something like this in GT5. 👍

completely agree. The pure selfishness of the anti enduro save people astounds me. Choice and the right to choose are things that make life so much better. Why should choice be denied in the gaming world?

The thing that astounds me about the pro enduro save people is why do you want to enter an endurance race in the first place......if the one thing you dont want to do is race for more than a couple of hours at a time why dont you simply enter a race that only lasts a couple of hours???
Leave the achievment of finishing the longer races to people who actually want to race for longer.

Yes, it was final challenge in Arcade Time Trial races on Complex String with RUF RGT.

And return of the Complex String would be stellar. Also, GT3 still looks and sounds gorgeous.

I kind of agree with this.

Don't fancy a 200 lap race? Don't do it.

Want to do the 200 lap race? Don't complain about doing it.

Introducing the saves completely removes the 'endurance' from them. How is it endurance if you only race for half an hour each day?

Why should the challenge of the Endurance race be reduced to a nonsense so that people can turn it into a one lap at a time race of nothingness?

If PD add saves to Endurance racing then there should be an indication on the trophy that you saved during the race so that people who commit the selfish act of testing themselves in these events can still do so.

^ IF the endurance races were not required for 100% completion, or the platinum trophy, then this would not be more of an issue.

As stated before, if you dislike the function, you have the choice of not using it 💡

I think the implementing a feature which can cause backache, seizures and god knows what else, a poor decision. .

Most games and systems warn you of this.
You could argue why buy a 3DS if your going to disable 3D?

My answer would be to save my 6 year old sons vision and limit his playing time.
Nintendo have added a parental lock to aid the parents.

Shouldn't PD help the parents to encourage them not to sit in front of a 3d TV for 24 hours solid and fry there brains.

Or should systems be left on for a fire risk.

People are stupid sometimes.

Simple, don't use the save feature. I'm sure you're not forced to use it.

Omg if I could only get Citta di Aria in GT5 I would be sooooooooo happy:

and Costa di Amalfi! What happened to PD making these sort of tracks?! I forgot how much fun they were...

Yeah, I wish those tracks from GT4 would make it back. As well as the others (why no Motegi dammit?!?!)
But I'm not expecting something like that, in fact, I'm keeping my expectations pretty low so I won't be too disappointed :D

What I would like:
Better online options and lobby listings.
More stable hosting
Better drafting
Improved Tyre wear between compounds
Fix the backwards tuning
Rewind, Fast forward replays
More information on the settings /aids in a replay screen.
Re worked tyre module to suit trial braking
Raise the 20mil credit ceiling
improve online XP and Cash.

What will actually happen:
Latest Skyline GTR V-spec
Personalized Racing Shoes and Gloves
Added mode where you need to train your driver physically so he can last the distance of race
More museam cards
More paints and other items
Announce version 2.1 in another 4 weeks.

amar is the man! That's why he's the Doctor and we're the students. :D

It's been way too long since I played GT1, so I stuck to what I remembered - and didn't google for the info because sometimes that's a rabbithole chase. But the memories of seeing that NEW RECORD! message flashing and staying there as the race ended was so very satisfying. And I particularly liked how the race would go into autopilot and continue endlessly until you quit, so you could watch your car tackle the track and see how you could perhaps have done a better job in the race.

I neglected to say in my wishlist that the A-Spec side should include as many races and types as we have in GT4. The wealth of cars and races made it one of the most epic racing experiences ever.

On Premium cars or conversions, it remains to be seen how many there could be. I know I'm kind of the oddball around here, but I'd rather see the Standard cars improved, and those past tracks reworked for GT5 than a bunch of new Premium cars. I think tracks are much more necessary, considering all the rides we have. But depending on how many modelers PD has now, there could be 20 or as much as 50 new Premium cars. My money is still on getting new tracks.

This could be the last new update, as Kaz said they had already begun early work on GT6, but a Spec III wouldn't be out of the question. We did get karts because of a slip in an interview with one of the heads of SCEA, after all, and SONY does want GT5 to continue selling in the face of Forza 4...

If PD add saves to Endurance racing then there should be an indication on the trophy that you saved during the race so that people who commit the selfish act of testing themselves in these events can still do so.
This should make both camps happy. Maybe a Super Platinum Trophy for those who do enduros in one sitting. Besides, what difference is there for those who pause the game for a day at least once? The people complaining about this aren't stupid, they just want the prestige to remain for their hardcore efforts. Assuming they never paused, anyhow. :D

On Porsche and VW, I'd hope that EA - that other monopoly - would be losing their iron grip on this automaker license, but this sure remains to be seen. Microsoft evidently spent SO much money on Forza 4 that MS just couldn't afford EA's tribute this time to get Porsche for Forza 4. Either that, or EA were afraid that Shifty just couldn't look appealing with the magic P cars in that other game.

Or... and this is just PURE speculation, but maybe SONY used the profits from their blockbusters like Prologue to secure an exclusive sub-license from EA. I'm very doubtful of this, because EA (wish I had a Euro symbol handy) loves moolah as much as M$ does, and MS is almost made of money, while SONY actually makes stuff and is not. So SONY would have to have quite a stash to score something like a Porsche license.

Multiple setups per car should be added
Improve the mechanical damage, by including transmission failure, punctures etc
Remove the 1car per day sending limit
Remove the cap on how many items you can send
Give the option to delete multiples of your museum cards
Buy a raft of upgrades for your car? Then the car should be unavailable for say 10mins whilst the parts are fitted. Puts it one step closer to being more realistic! If only it was that quick in real life lol
Bring back qualifying for races - Including online!
Season event creator - Give strict options such as max bhp, minimum weight accepted etc etc
Remove the 20mil credit limit

Some of you will be highly disapointed I think when 2.0 will be up. You guys are expecting far too much from PD.

And I'll probably be playing FM4 at that time, which seems awesome. And F1 2011.

this is the Spec 2.0 thread, not the GT6 wishlist one 👍

All I really want is more filters for online racing (restricted cars, year, kind) and a generic cockpit for standards. Everything else would be a bonus. It would be nice to get some dlc vintage tracks with old scenery and a bunch of new classics as well. Great news.
