GT5 "Spec 2.0" Discussion Thread - Read the First post!

It's pretty obvious that there would be a Spec update of some sort, as this is nothing new to Gran Turismo.

The release time is obviously to coincide with Forza's release date, as Forza did the same thing last year.

It's not hard to think sometimes.:sly:
 
Too excited about Spec II I joined GTP jump in on the hype. Hello everyone this is my first post. Posting from my work office don't tell:nervous:

I want:
  • customizable garage with folders and subfolders (e.g. stock folder, tuned folder, within those folders subfolders like Super GT, DTM, Group A,B,C, etc)
  • garage search engine to type in number of pp, hp, weight, and/or torque to jump to the car instead of scrolling
  • merge physics so that current offline physics become standard
  • standard to premium all Group C/LMP, WRC Group B, DTM, and all one-make race cup cars
as a fix.

I want additions such as:
  • Honda HSV-010 GT which was cut from GT5
  • Mooncraft Shiden to show more love for GT300
  • Toy Story MR-S and Hatsune Miku Z4 for hilarious races
  • Team Toyo 180SX since Gran Turismo is the main sponsor of D1GP, shouldn't be a problem to get rights and model the car
  • R18 TDI and 908 (2011) LMP
  • bring back the 1886 Mercedez-Benz Patent Motor Wagon, of course as premium!
  • add all the cars from SEMA and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Gran Turismo award winners that didn't make it to GT5
  • Ferrari 250 GTO, THE grand tourer. Shame this isn't in the game called Gran Turismo
  • Twin Ring Motegi
  • Spa Francorchamps
  • Sea of Japan Maze
  • Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
  • Silverstone
  • Goodwood
This is about it. A list of dreams and high hopes. Finger is crossed until more news arrives:nervous:

All of them are for that matter. Forza fans coming to GTPlanet to list how inferior GT5 is to FM4 are no different.

Agreed. I also see how several people here are to quick to throw out the word 'fanboy' when it's obvious that GT fans will be found here.

Go take a look at those involved in the GT v. FM discussion threads. Serious stuff.:rolleyes:

Patches have never sold a game.

The upcoming GT5 Greatest Hits version however will sell some more copies. Chances are the GT5 re release is planned to be near the FM4 launch. The patch, not so much.
 
Maybe they'll do flag rules? We have already seen partial implementation in the pre-release demos (at gamescom and in the GTAcademy TimeTrial)
 
Only problem is that sometimes a host can be a prick.

I crashed into this guy on accident, and apologized, then he banned me for good..

- Telephatic interface
- Tooth-whitening while you sleep in B-Spec endurance
- Cosplay japanese girls in pit crew
- "Give me da money" button to earn 20 millons
- IDDQD trick for instant level 40

Excuse me for being a bit pedantic but despite the first 2 letters in the GTO monniker the 250 GTO isn't a grand tourer but a sportscar build for racing purposes (maybe even a roadgoing racecar), hence the last letter O which stands for Omologato (the 250 GT Lusso or any regular 250 GT can be regarded as GT's apart perhaps from the 250 GT SWB, on which the 250 GTO is based, which also is aimed for competitive use).
I agree that including it would be much and much appreciated, especially since we already have a car nicknamed the 'baby GTO' (Alfa TZ2) in GT5. :)

Oh, and welcome by the way.

Fan and fanboy are two different things.

Take most of the over opinionated crap spewing from VANDALISER'S keyboard as a perfect example of the latter.

I doubt that many of the more level headed GT fans are offended when his kind are called out for what they are.

More trouble in the end than it's worth: skidmarks, rear lights indicator, weather, damage, NASCAR, (rudimentary) damage, night races and still those greedy buggers give him hell.

I'd really wish PD stopped listening to people wasting their life on a single video game.

Not sure if you noticed, there are subforums for many other games. Also if you look past your nose you might find many people here started/or are still playing GT. Just some people can actually branch out and *GASP* play other games as well. Then compare them. And get ready for it.....have an opinion other than GT% is the bestest thing evah!

Well, the GTO is a car made for racing yes, GTO=Gran Turismo Omologato in English is Grand Tourer Homologation, so this car was made for GT racing in mind from the ground up, as a successor to the 250 GT Berlinette. But this car is a road car with 39 manufactured to meet homologation requirement(100 required, but 39+230 of 250GTB and Ferrari said that's over 100 and that worked 👍). It was a time cars went straight to GT races, so feed back from races went straight and pure into the very car that was purchasable at dealers, like Porsche, Nissan Skyline and the like.

Term Grand Tourer is ambiguous, but I take it as follows:
  • suspension is a lot firmer than family budget cars, slightly softer than sports cars for long range driving comfort and performance
  • mostly front engine rear wheel drive cars with 2 seats or 2 by 2.
  • useable luggage space for long range touring
  • high power engine with good torque, for comfort driving everyday driving instead of high rpm race-like engine of sports cars squeezing every bit of horsepower

So, Caterham Super 7 is a 2 seater FR layout sports car which is horrible for long distance touring, while the Jaguar XK coupe is a very comforable Grand Tourer.
On track the 7 is way faster than the XK. It has super light weight, weak but sufficient power engine, weak torque and high red line so pedal to the metal anywhere, heavy clutch. This is a sports car. Fast, fun, and tiresome. The Jag is at the other end of the spectrum. Heavy, loads of torque, and comfort while providing sufficient performance.

But there are cars that blur the line between GT and sports cars, like the SLS AMG and the SLR McLaren with very impressive performance on track while being comfortable.

So maybe Grand Tourer and sports cars don't differ that much today. Anyway, this is off topic.

I also want Suzuki Monster Pikes Peak Special XL7 and SX4 in GT5:)
 
The whole 'If Forza has it, we don't want it, and Kaz doesn't want it either' attitude is both yawnsome and ridiculous. How these guys know what Kaz wants or doesn't want is something I'd love to know.

I don't get the whole “wish list” thing here. Your just setting yourself up for disappointment. I'm pretty sure this is meant to be an informative thread about the upcoming updates, not a wish list. You guys are just cluttering this thread up with useless nonsense. Bottom line, you'll get what they give you, like it or not. I keed coming to this thread for useful information, not people wishing for things that they want only to cry about it when its not included. Please stop with the lists.

The opposition to a livery editor makes no sense whatsoever. This idea that GT will somehow lose its "class" if it has one is totally ludicrous.

Parts of the GT community have already shown themselves to be just as obnoxious as every other gaming community. People by-passing the swear filter, shouting obscenities down their mic, sending you offensive messages when you kick them out of a lobby....

Preventing those people from accessing a livery editor is not suddenly going to re-instill the "class" of GT: GT has already lost its class.

The only way to re-instill that class would be to take the whole of GT completely offline. And who in their right mind wants that?

I have to agree with this. This has basically become a wishlist thread and I'm pretty sure it'll stay like this until the patch is out or if we get some more info about the patch in the coming future.

A lot of people are setting themselves up, especially those who hope a specific car or track will be added.

Agree that the term (which goes for most terms, define sportscar for example) might be a bit ambiguous but it basically comes down to a fast car, mostly a big 2-door coupé body, aimed to cover great distances in comfort and luxury which the 250 GTO isn't aimed at (it can cover large distances but doesn't offer much comfort).
There are cars which fall into multiple categories (like the SLR you mentioned which combines GT aspects with hypercar performance or perhaps the Veyron which could qualify to be a mid-engined GT or an alternative for a small private jet).
Anyway, we're going off topic again (my fault) and I agree with those who say we musn't turn this into an extended wish list.
And as much as I'd like things like a livery editor, I strongly doubt it'll appear.

Yea and I can see it now. After the update, there will be endless pages of people crying because they did't get what they wished for. I myself would like certain things implemented to this game, but I just keep it to myself and if it happens, cool, if not, I will go on playing the game however it is till I become bored with it. Just the way it is. Wish all you want, just keep it to yourself.
