I have an idea for an online race.

NASCAR + Nurburgring + night time + rain

:D

NASCAR + Nurburging + Night Time is Plausible (but far fetched), + Rain = 3 Hour Red Flag and the race called at halfway

Chris.

I just read through 40 pages of giggling schoolgirls...

Not even halfway, maybe for the first lap red flag will be out :D plus they need headlights!

We could make it one lap and it would still take three hours to finish it. lol

Well if the weather is dynamic then it would have a chance of making it halfway before the race was called, then what happens? do we get pit reporters talking to the drivers for 2 hours before NASCAR makes the official decision?

Yeah, they'd need headlights or else the Nurburging would have to undergo the biggest lighting project ever to illuminate the track enough, haha.

I do like how so far the night actually looks like night, not some blue filter applied over the image,

Do they use Rain Tires in NASCAR?

Edit: Video above answers my Q

Geez! Great news! Snow, rain, night... what an experience it will be! I wasn't able to watch the live streaming but I could feel all the emotion through your comments guys.

However, they still need to confirm in which tracks changing weather is available (well, first they need to confirm the tracks available). I think that and much more will be revealed on the next days through interviews there.

They haven't in Sprint Cup, due to excessive tire wear. They did one race at Montreal (infact someone just posted the youtube link), and it seemed to run well but I'd imagine it'd get annoying really fast if you had to pit every lap or every other lap at the Nurburging :dunce:

Personally I think Rain will be available for all tracks, sans the ovals (atleast for NASCAR) and dirt tracks (that would get messy pretty fast,) with snow going in places it's applicable.

In that race they were using squeegee's and mops to wipe their windsheilds from inside the cockpit!

Perhaps that's where they will implement Playstation Move controls?

Sprint Cup will not run in the rain because when they switched to the Car of Tomorrow, the car has a different wheel size, making the existing Goodyear Wets obsolete. Goodyear does not want to invest in testing to make new tires, nor do the teams.

Nationwide was able to use the tires in Montreal because Goodyear had built those tires in the 1990s and never used them (although they had briefly been used in practice at the Suzuka exhibition event in the rain), they were sitting around. However having used up part of that 90s supply twice now, and with Nationwide switching to their own Car of Tomorrow, the possibility of wet weather races in the future is now nil.

Whats this X1 look like? Anyone with a picture of it?

Well thanks for the insight there, I'd been told the tire wear was too bad for them to use it, I guess that really only applies on ovals though.

But the faster you drive, the faster water will come off the windshield! :D
So, no wipers isn't a problem at all =)

At about 130-140kmh the rain starts going upwards on your windshield, no need for wipers indeed and its beautiful to see ta boot.

The Redbull X1 was confirmed, write it on the first page JK (I have no idea what this concept car is even supposed to look like, lawz)
