I especially love the idea that the forecast MAY be wrong, so that you could set up your car for wet weather, only to have it stay overcast and dry the whole race! Talk about adding realism, haha!

"can we race a single race in the fixed weather conditions that we want? i mean if there an event of 3 laps on a track like monza for the sunday cup, it can be wet (fixed not dynamic) or the feature it's just for endurance races and coruse maker's rallies ?"

^ More than likely, I'd hope. It would make sense.

+1 that would be great !

Well I has to say, after viewing the Weather Trailer I was one of those that thought we weren't going to see a car racing in the rain at night with windshield wipers going, I glad I was wrong. Ecstatic in what I've seen so far. :)

As a classic Volkswagen enthusiast, I am very excited about the Split Screen Bus, Kübelwagen, and Schwimmwagen. I can't wait to drive the Split Bus in the interior view!

At the very end of the E3 trailer and it ended with a car in a wind tunnel or some form of chamber. Is that the X1?

Agreed. I doesn't make any sense to limit the weather conditions for the enduro races. I don't mind the weather not being dynamic in shorter races, kinda pointess to have changing weather in 2-5 lap races :dopey:

But since they have the weather system down, it would be ridiculous to skip the weather on shorter races :)

On another subject, I'm stuck at home with high fever and bronchitis, but the confirmation of Trial Mountain really made my day! :D. I've been playing GT3 a lot lately to relive the thrills of Trial Mountain :D

I dont think so, that car had a roof whereas the X1 seems to be an open cockpit.

Look at the car in front of him, at one point it definately looks like it's driving through a puddle. That would mean puddles are generated by progressive rain, that would be simply terrific.

It's hard to believe that PS3 can take it all:scared:

That's what they say about pushing a console past its limits. I'm sure the Cell had something to do with how they were able to do this.

I think he does go through a puddle, no other explanation for it, atleast not that I can think of. That little weather trailer has made GT5 seem even more amazing! I love when he comes out of the tunnel & all the rain just smashes agains the glass.. Yumm xD cant wait!!

Well, the X1 looked to have the HUD on some sort of screen, which would imply it has a cockpit with a roof.

Edit: Just googled, it's peak perfomance is at 14.6 GFLOPS right now, theoretcially 80 GFLOPS possible, but the system as a whole is supposed to be able of 2 Teraflops.
And yeah just as a comparison the fastest supercomputer generates 2.33 Petaflops=2330 teraflops?=more than 1000 times stronger than the ps3, nice.
A also read that today every standard computer is as fast as a supercomputer 20 years ago, amazing.

The way I saw it was it had a fighter jet style glass canopy with a projected red HUD. It basically looked like an F1 / LeMans car mix with a roof.

Robin.

A somewhat "better" version.

More like a blend between an F1 and a LMS prototype, judging by the wheel-arch / air vents and the headlights.

My thoughts are on a wet track you always have water stored in the saw tooth ripple strips - that's how Petrov dropped it at Spa. The car in front was probably driving the racing line.

Think about the very start of a 'ring video. The AI cars almost always kick up a bit of dust on that corner.

I know I know but it is just very hard to believe that this is being simulated in a game, I have to experience it first to believe it.

Yeah , this looks too good !

It doesn't have to be a puddle of water, it could be that the car in front went off the racing line into the wetter part of the track. That creates the spray easily.

That would still be great, considering that we would have differently wet surface, that already would be awesome.

Looking at that scene again, I don't know if I'm imagining sth. or not, right after he drives through the supposed puddle, look then at the left rear wheel, looks like he's driving through a smaller puddle, what detail, even if it is not a puddle.
(maybe a reflection? hm)

We will be able to tell properly some time today or tomorrow when the HD version is out :D

The weather effects, despite the low quality video feed... look absolutely stunning. I cannot wait for Sony/PD to release to HD assets. Do you think we will have to wait until next Tuesday (the next regularly scheduled PSN update) before we can download the 1080p Weather Trailer?
