Some of you who follow oppositelock's Quick Tune spreadsheet thread will have noticed that RabbidMaggot has very generously shared over 500 Quick Tune spreadsheets with the GTPlanet community. With his permission I have extracted all the car data from these spreadsheets and extended my GT5Tuner app to allow this data to be used. Now, having over 500 cars in your car database would be unmanageable and also make the app incedibly slow. To actually make use of this data I have split the data up into sets. A 'Set' is simply a file containing cars of a particular grouping. I have created three types of car sets for you to try: By Manufacturer, By Year and by Type. These are by no means complete but they do give you access to over 500 cars.
In the download folder you will find a sub folder called 'Car Sets'. In here you will find three zip files. Simply download one, two or all three of these and unzip them to the 'GT5Tuner' folder on the SDCard of your phone. At first I would recommend only downloading one of these. Each of these zip files contains several car 'sets', e.g. The 'By Manufacturer' zip file contains individual sets for manufacturers like Ferrari and Toyota and then groups other manufacturers by their initial letter.
To unzip the files you will need to have an app installed that can handle zip files. Have a look in Android Market where there are plenty of free apps to do this.
Once you have installed the new version of the app, open it and go to the 'Load Car' option. You will now see an option asking you to select a Car Set. Tap on this and select one of the car sets. The 'Built-in' car set will contain all the cars you previously had stored in the app. When you select a car set, you can then tap on the second selector which will allow you select which car to load. Only the cars in the particular car set are listed here.
You can also save a car to a car set and delete a car from a car set. In the save option, there is a button which will allow you to create a car set of your own.
If you have unwanted cars sets, simply delete the file from the GT5Tuner folder on the SDCard of your device. Likewise, if you want to back up your Car Sets, simply copy them from the GT5Tuner folder to a safe location.
Note: There a few 4WD cars which RabbidMaggot hasn't recorded where the engine is. Also, for some cars, I was not able to extract the transmission information. If you load a car with either of these issues, you will be prompted to check them. If the drivetrain is left at 4WD, you will not be able to perform a QuickTune.
Please let me know how you get on. Your feedback, even if it is just "works on xxx phone", is important to me and lets me know that more than one person is using it!
