Heres a question just for fun, and to stir the pot a little. :) Would you guys take an updated version of GT5, with all the new cars, 2014 GT Academy, or are you happy with GT6??

If by updated you mean the latest update, then no. Because it's the same but worse - no seasonals, no online races and less of everything.

I'd be really happy if GT6 had some of the options GT5 had, like custom one-make races with standing starts, option to enable mechanical damage & fuel/tire wear, as well as the option to enable mechanical damage & fuel/tire wear in arcade races and time trial.
It makes no sense why PD removed those options in GT6.

And the course maker and other things GT5 had and GT6 merely promised. I'd say GT5 as far as the game itself but with GT6's physics. There's no way I could go back to GT5 now with it's dead iRacinglike lack of road feel through the wheel. Gt6 isn't perfect but MUCH better than GT5 that way and even though it's far from a sim, it's still about driving to me. Now if they added the physics to GT5, buh bye GT6. lol.

Online seasonals, shuffle racing and the whole online experience would be from gt5.. As for gt6 having superior physics, they are being messed with on a weekly basis. Theres a ride height glitch, camber gets weirder and weirder, maxed up toe seems to be the hot thing going for pd, and top speed for stock cars match current indycar speeds.

For me personally GT6 is better, better career mode,
To me career in GT6 feels like a step back.
Overall it's shorter than in GT5, and considerably shorter than career in GT4. Longest events in GT6 have only 5 races, longest races are the ones in S-class (30 minutes at the most, only 9 races, and tracks with weather/time changes such as Daytona, Motegi, Monza & Bathurst not being used), longest races outside of S-class are around 5 laps/15 minutes, no FGT event, no rally mode, no endurance, with exception of kart & Red Bull all the races use that dumb catch-up format, and AI isn't that great.

I can't comment about GT4, but GT6 campaign is about same length for me as GT5 Aspec, it's technically longer because of the Endurance races but not everyone played the 24 hour events in ASpec. Career mode is a bit less varied here because of the car list, GT6 seems to focus only on premium cars, which is why there's no FGT league.

Also everyones taste are different so a thread like this won't help anyone. Casuals like me might like GT6 better then 5, or the other way, it's all about preference.

...the odd epiphany I'm having at this moment: GT5 might be a good place for me to go to continue refining my skills... right now... because GT6 is in an odd sort of flux in it's core principles engineering.

At least, even if GT5 is wooden and old, it's Not changing day to day while one tries to sort out their skill at handling the vehicle upon a track. It reminds me one of the first questions PD offered with regard to people playing one or the other. They said something to the effect 'pph. If you spend a week trying GT6 and don't want to go back to GT5, we've done our job.' Right now, I'm thinking they may have seriously failed the premise of that statement... Why? because I'm thinking this may be a reasonable change in my daily behaviour.

For me personally GT6 is better, cars are cheaper, better career mode, better UI, new tracks.
There is no way in the world that GT6 career mode is better, PD has gone backwards on this and if PD used the GT5 career mode setup in GT6 and then the fans will be happy with GT6 but they are not and it is a disgrace to the fans on what they did to career mode in GT6.

After finishing GT5's career mode I spent lots of time in arcade mode on custom tracks. That feature along with sped up tire wear and fuel depletion is all I want in GT6.

that said, I'll give GT6 the edge now for the new tracks and cars

Gt 6 is the one I'd pick but I do miss the special events, the mechanical damage setting and the tyre wear and fuel consumption option(offline)

.......GT5 or GT6?? None of them. I'd take GT4 over these two, if it were HD. Granted GT6 has few of my fav cars, and a track or two, but that's just about all it has over the older game. What if GT5 and GT6 were.....thrown into a blender and create a hybrid baby? I think I'll take that one....

I would take GT-5. Here we are a year down the pike on GT-6, and you can't even slap some camber on a car and improve it's cornering ability. You see that car as my Avatar? I owned that car and raced it. I put some caster/camber plates on it, cranked the front camber up to 2.5 degrees, and went Porsche hunting on the track. OK, I did add coil-over Konis front and back plus a Panhard bar and a torque arm to tame the rear axle, but that car was a threat in the corners, unlike most Mustangs.

Anyway, my point is that camber works OK in GT-5 and pretty much not at all in GT-6, and that is simply shameful.

The other thing is the shame of the 24 minutes of XXXXXX (Pick a Track) How hard is it to have a real 24 hour race instead of these bogus substitutes of accelerated tire wear and fuel consumption things, just in case little Johnny gets bored or tired. If you are building a highly touted "driving simulation" but design it for kids, then don't expect the adults to hang on for very long. It's not like we had to drive for 24 hours straight in GT-5, we could shut it down any time we liked, and start in the same place the next day/week, or month. It would seem that GT-6 is all about "Instant Gratification" so it must be for kids then.
Cheers, Pete

...........Okay, that's cool an' all, but why did ya quote me??

I think that gt6 is better because in my first day of playing I was at the gornergraut league in an Aventador. there's no xp systems and you can go straight to the seasonal events and get rich day 1. Also a selection of standards have been updated to semi-premiums and you don't have to camp by the ucd for a car you may or may not find

GT6 ONLINE SUCKS BIG TIME.
PD WOULD DO BETTER TO TRASH IT AND BRING BACK THE ONLINE AS HOW IT WAS IN GT5.

-> No shuffle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-> Same maker races are even more preposterous than they were in GT5. You can only select like 15 different cars, and like, only 5 are good.

-> Quick race is a mess. It takes ages to load, gives an error 75% of the times you try to join a match and when you finally do, it's dirty drivers everywhere.

-> Can't see friends online and join their rooms. (I know you can filter rooms with friends, but still, you'll have to check every room to find the friend you want, if he is online, that is)

TL;DR I can't have fun in GT6 online...

For online one-make races iirc there are 28 cars available, 8 of them are go-karts, go figure.
