GT5 vs GT6

I tossed GT5 in the console the other day after not playing it since GT6 release, and I noticed a major difference in wheel feedback between the two. I'll have to double check my wheel settings, but GT5 has a much, much, weightier feel vs. GT6. Which makes me wonder -- "Will the true GT driving simulator please step forward?"

I've been switching between gt5 and gt6 the last month and I've noticed that when (in gt5) you increase the wheel weight you feel more and heavier shocks when driving on f.e. kerbs, jumps, rougher tarmac... This is something I haven't experienced in gt6 (yet). So I would say that gt5 has the most realistic steering feeling. But gt6 has got the upperhand on physics.

FFB was adjusted for GT6 a few months ago. Supposedly it provides more feedback in terms of being able to feel more of the road and what the car is doing, at the expense of wheel weight which is why everything feels lighter. There was quite a discussion about it and a lot of people on both sides.

I'll have to take my words back. I've just driven my Mazda MX-5 '07 on Sierra with both force feedback settings on max value (10) and the feedback felt amazing. I felt every bump in the surface, even the metal strips at the beginning and end of a bridge came through with a firm nock. To me this means that gt6 is (much) more realistic than gt5.

IMO I agree but some people really miss the "weight" of the wheel from GT5.

I can't fully agree on that, I have my force feedback settings in both gt5 and gt6 on max value and what I've experienced is that at higher speeds gt5 deliveres (much) more weight than gt6 but at slower speeds gt6 gives a much heavier feel than gt5. In other words gt6 varies its wheel weight depending on how fast you're going much more than gt5. And this is ultimately the most realistic.
