I agree with what most of the people here are saying. TDU is a huge open world where you can drive around in tropic landscape in okey - looking cars, but with unrealistic driving physics. I got bored of the game in 5 days, then again, i played alot those 5 days. U spend alot of time getting from one place to another and u get tired of it after a while. The online bit in the game is rediculously poor and not at all what people were expecting. The racing part in the game where u race against other AI's is nothing special. It reminds me of what it was like racing in GTA IV.
Gt5 > tdu2
You can't even compare the two, really. They're different genre's.

👍 Totally agree
I played both, and I prefer TDU2. That said, I must add I don't play online, thus I am interested in a substantial single player mode. TDU2 offers me a nice range of cars, good graphics and sound, two massive and totally open worlds to explore and a nice range of events to take part in whenever I want to. For me, it was a welcome break from all the limits GT5 set me.
If you love realistic simulators, TDU2 is not for you. If you love driving around in an almost limitless world with real traffic and a nice event now and then, TDU2 might appeal to you.
I only play GT5 (so far), but I'm really interested in the pro's and con's of both games.
Anyone here plays them both and can tell me something about it?
Cheers!
You can literally go anywhere. I was baffled by this at first. Given you have an offroad-capable vehicle (like many in the game are; the not-so-offroad-capable will still go offroad, but will be limited in top speed and rough terrain abilities), you can go cross-country all day if you like, given there are no insuperable obstacles like fences, houses, walls in general or hills so steep you simply can't find grip. You can even drive into the water, you will simply respawn on the road where you left it. It is a completely free world. There are no people running around though, you only meet other cars. Those will obey the traffic laws, you can crash into them and they'll stop and switch on the hazards. I suppose they left out humans to prevent a bloodshed. Is it also possible to go offroad in TDU? E.g. nagging the people on the beach a little.
This thread is perfectly fine. Noone says that these games are much alike. But if someone knows GT5 quite well, has no clue about TDU2 but might like to purchase the latter, he would like to know about differences and similarities, and generally how people who played both games would describe them. What's wrong with that?
anyone remember theorigional test drive on the amiga? Terrible even then
ElkayIf you're looking for a really fun, more arcade style racer to take a break from GT5, I highly recommend the new NFS Hot Pursuit. Haven't had that much fun just driving around like a maniac playing cat and mouse in a long time. Awesome graphics and soundtrack, too.
