No Sim so far is like the real thing. I race a Miata in real life and you feel the car through your hips. GT5 cannot replicate that feeling of G forces. You have to rely more on visual and FFB through your wheel. Usually by the time your brain calculates that the car is over the limit, it's too late to catch it. In real life you brain can sense the differing levels of g forces better and hear more of the tire talking back to you. A talking tire is a happy tire. A squealing tire is over the limit. I don't hear any tire noises in GT5 when at the limit. Just tire noise and smoke when over the limit. This is where I think Sims fall short of real life.

Yea, how about with dbox simulator will it be a step closer to reality? Yes true not much of tires noise except more of to rely on feedback .

Why does everyone got to lie about racing a car Im sure you have a miata but you dont drive a spec miata series or evn g to a circuit

What is your problem do you have proof he don't really have a real Miata race car. Just because you don't doesn't mean he don't. There are lots of people that have and race real cars that play GT5. Before you go calling people liars you had better have proof first.

I seem to have stumbled upon the 5 year olds grammar deficiency page .

Or to put it the way people are writing here - " Does I gots to goes leaves and finds 'nother threads do read ? "

This. I have a bloody difficult time trying to save a car with a wheel as soon as I recognize it's about to slide. GT5's automatic spinning of the wheel doesn't help either. Usually I save it then I have to turn the other way, and the wheel won't let me quick enough or it turns to far and I spin yet again.

Here is your ass, please close the door on the way out. LOL!

Epic ownage right there! 👍 :)

I always say im over defending GT-series games.. however I defend GT5 as being the most relistic console game I have ever played. I Drift under D1 Corporation and did Auto-x under SCCA in reality, and the inputs are shockingly close. Its also cool to host a party and watch all of my other buddies drive the same car and do horrible and I come in and show them how to do it basically by using the brakes and proper lines.

So basically from a real racer of 11 years motorsports experience, this game rocks and you can take what you learn from it and apply it in reality. One of the biggest shockers will be forces on your body which if you are not in good physical shape will make you tired and probably sick.

My Logi DFP doesnt keep up in 900 degree mode. The motor and gearing dont spin the wheel fast enough to simulte the speed at which the steering rack moves so there is a disconnect there. Very difficult to drift. I use 200 degree mode and it allows me to keep up with counter steer movements. I just don't get to move the wheel as far. Curious if some of the newer high end belt drive wheels can keep up.

I race DH Skateboards......Because I can't afford a race car. Perfect Blend of sport, adrenaline and speed.
but I might be lying of course...even if Im not I'm guessing your all thinking the same thing right

I have to agree it is the best 'simulator' on consoles.

Im lucky enough to get to drive this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA7jbd6toyk
on an almost daily/weekly basis. My university uses it as a teaching tool and is open for anyone in our department to hop on. Nothing compares to being able to feel the car underneath you and even this isnt 100%.

Comparing GT5 to an actual simulator, its pretty close. Run the Cruden without motion and the only difference is the sophistication in the tyre model which on GT5 is obviously a set standard whereas on the sim we use pacejka tire models.

I still disagree, forza is fun and realistic.

As it happens we had a huge debate about Forza realism compared to GT5. We found out that Forza uses tire data from Pirelli, but we couldn't find out what GT5 uses.

Ive played both and driven on our sim. For me GT5 takes it. Mainly down to the graphics, Forza definitely looks like a video game, GT5 has that, watching a well lit HD movie look lol

Could they use Bridgestone? Just a guess. Or Michelen? Or both? :boggled: since it says it alot in the game.

That was my thought but we weren't sure what kind of data they'd have. The tires feel the same car to car.

I think what people are really comparing is GT5 to Pirelli tires not the games themselves. Nowadays its impossible even for experts to feel a huge difference. And unless you can actually validate what you find its ultimately pointless arguing 'realism'. By that I mean taking say the GTR around Grand Valley Speedway in both game and real life with identical set ups and tires lol (Its not possible!)

Whilst I do agree with you to a certain extent, I would urge you to consider that the general purpose of the forum is to excite discussion appertaining to the subject of GT5.

Whilst I am sure your intention is to educate and enlighten others perhaps less educationally advanced as your goodself, taken in context, it may be considered by certain parties, that your post may be intended to antagonise the hoy polloy.
