GT5 wow MOMENTS!

My race was going exactly like that up to about half-way, then my wheel went haywire and drove me into a wall for a while... fixed it then it did it again. So I lost a minute or so dealing with that and had to put sports softs on... came storming back, took the lead with a few laps to go, then ran out of tires and couldn't pull away again... never had more than a 10 second lead, won by about 3. Sorry you couldn't salvage yours.

Man my heart would've been racing up the wall if I'd been you. The thought of losing an endurance race is almost too much to bear, considering I almost never have time to complete one. I'm sick at home with laringitis right now so I got time to spare, actually earlier yesterday before I went for the 4 hours at Tsukuba, I did the 200 miles at Laguna Seca. Two enduros in one day would've been awesome.

Another thing that makes me go wow is how long the AI goes for a stint on a single set of tires. I kept Sport Hards for the first stint at Tsukuba, when I absolutely had to pit I switched to Sport Mediums, I caught up to 1st place before he even took his first pit stop, what the hell were his tires made of? Some sort of titanium/rubber composite? :irked:

I'm pretty sure they're on SS tires. I can't remember the exact specifics(I think the game crashed), but I had run 1/2 the race before this and couldn't believe how long theirs lasted. When I ran the whole thing doing my best endurance driving(other than the wheel thing), I BARELY managed to make it past half-way on cords, by like a lap or 2, and they still kept going a while after I pitted.

But on the softs I put on after that, even after pounding the hell out of them trying to catch up, they still had a lot left. Not enough to be pulling away, but I still could have gone farther than I did with hards.

Nurburgring, weather and time change, Audi R10, Hud Off, and prepare to fall in love. I spent about nearly 2 hours just lapping the Ring like this, very fun chasing down the tail lights of the AI then trying to overtake around midnight, then the glare of the sun at sunrise/sundown. Definatly something I recommend everyone tries.

Also, an epic bounce I somehow got in my tuned 458 after landing from the bounce at Eiger. Also my 0.001 second victory on the Like the Wind at Indy and also me somehow winning the Supercar Nostalgia Cup race in Mt Aso in a Giulia TZ2 after a spin out on the penultimate lap, then taking both Miuras on the last lap and just about managing to fend off the Miura on the home straight. These are all my most well remembered moments in my GT history ATM...
 
Arcade Mode - Le Mans Time and Weather change - NSX RM - Unlimited Laps.

I thought it would be a cool idea to do that, and it was the most stunning race I ever had in any race game.

Not because of the competition with the AI (I detuned the NSX RM to 520 PP but I was able to keep up due to slipstream), but because of the way the head- and taillights looked in the far distance down the Mulsanne straight.

When it started to rain and everybody hit the pits at nighttime, it was just breathtaking hearing and seeing them drive by in the illuminated pits.

Now, if Spec 2.0 brings us even more features, cars and/or tracks, this game will be the best game ever played by me... 👍

Wow moments almost everytime I boot it up! Hey! a thread for GT Fans at GTPlanet? WOW!!
Just the opening movie the very first time I started it off was a Wow Moment I'll never forget.

@parabull - Holy Wow! You just made one of my favourite cars in the game a Wow Car!

My first wow moment was way back when I did the 24hr la sarthe endurance race. The glorious sunrise as I drove through the dunlop corner was amazing. My last major wow was doing the fgt championship. It was the best natural high I could imagine.3 hours of adrenaline felled heart pumping orgasm....
 
Never knew how detailed the drying of the track can be.
We raced with our minis at monza.

It was raining in the beginning of the qualification and while we were driving it stopped. After a couple laps i tried to change to inter. Was 1-2 seconds faster then the best time befor. So everyone was running to the pit to get inter. A couple more laps and the racing line was dry. Only couple minutes left in the qualification and i tried the slicks. Again, couple seconds faster. Everyone tried to change to the slicks and get a last fast lap. It was lots of fun.

If you did not stay exactly on the racing line the slicks had nearly zero grip because it was still wet. Great!

BUT:
If you imagine how much time it needs to develop such a good feature.. just to not include it in singleplayer.. it is strange.. We need more tracks with dynamic weather :)
 
Everyone get on GT5 and do this NOW.

1) Purchase a rally car, ie. the Subaru or Celica or Citroen rally car
2) Max it, and put racing softs on there
3) Load up Nurburging at NIGHT
4) Tear through the Nurburging like its some sort of asphalt rally stage.

5) Your love for GT5 is reborn. :D

3) Browsing the Premiums 1st time......Wow they look amazing
4) First Race in MX5.....WOW cockpit view is amazing
5) First Race again.......Wow those Shadows are appalling
6) First Race again.......Wow Ai not following all in a line
7) First Race at Trial Mountain.......Wow this track is a ****** port of the PS2 track
8) First Race in a Standard...........Wow this looks ****.
9) GT Auto.........Wow this takes forever
10) Triangle for reverse with a wheel ................Wow, FIFTH game still does this?
11) first time at Nords in GT5..........Wow just wow
12) First high speed screen shake ................Wo....<pukes>
13) First time adjusting brake balance ........Wow, this crap AGAIN!!
14) First time over the jump at Cape Ring.........Wow, that's just WRONG!

I know I'm being harsh (not ALL negatives though) and I know that this is a GT5 love in thread, but seeing how complaint threads get hijacked by the Pro GT5 brigade I thought some "revenge" would be fitting. Pain in the arse isn't it?
 
My first wow moment was racing an F40 at Monza. Actually, it was racing at Monza full stop. Very cool new addition to the GT series IMHO.

That happened to me too... because I swaped the pill to stay awake with acid... parked the car and stayed there wowing for 1 hour till I called 911... :dopey:

After a while of sporadic GT5 racing I took my Ruf BTR for a spin at the Nordschleife this evening and damn it was great! Counter-steering almost every turn, that track is dope!
 
first time i drove the redbull x1 in the special events tiem trials... omg! trying to gold it sent my pulse racing, i was sweating like mad.. had never turned the wheel so quick from left to right before loool.. it helped me learn the GP/F track though hehe.
 
Kart challenge on Autumn Ring in cockpit view and using a wheel - I was amazed how real the steering felt. I re-did it several times as it was so much fun.

Thanks for this one, was a blast! And an absolute wow moment!! Sadly I came in second to the R8...,but fun factor off the scale!! Peace.

As far as I know TDU2 has very nice interiors. But come on guys, don't whine about this one. It's just one push of select more if you don't like this feature.

This whole day has been a GT5 wow moment for me. And what the hell, it's out next Tuesday? Nice one PD, absolutely brilliant. Wow!

When I first turned off all the onscreen displays, switched to the cockpit view, and drove around the 'Ring at night, in the rain, with no aids on Comfort Hard tyres in an MX-5. Awesome, especially when the sun came up.

Second wow was when I tried it with an Elise - the TG challenge having previously put me off ever driving the Elise ever again. Suddenly it all made sense again, so beautifully balanced car, so very playful and easy to adjust with the throttle.
