Having an IT background, I find interesting to check out how the full GT6 build number changes after each update. This information is available on the top corner of the screen when opening the in-game manual. These are the build numbers I've collected so far. Some of them I checked out for myself from the version I have, while others were found on the Internet from different sources. I think I might have forgot including a couple ones from hotfixes between major version updates.

1.00.68673923 (2013-11-03?) pre-release, Willow Springs event (US)
1.01.69143971 (2013-12-06) JPN hotfix?
1.01.69157022 (2013-12-06) EU day 1 patch (+hotfix?)
1.01.69205182
1.01.69232792
1.02.6930733E (2013-12-18) [official changelog]
1.02.6933468E (2013-12-18)
1.02.6935117E (2013-12-19)
1.03.6964525E (2014-01-14) [official changelog]
1.03.6974785E (2014-01-15)
1.03.6976018E (2014-01-16)
1.04.6985911E (2014-01-28) [official changelog] [GTP Thread]
1.04.6994774E (2014-01-30) [official changelog]
1.04.6997743E (2014-01-31) [official changelog]
1.05.7040189E (2014-03-10) [official changelog] [GTP Thread]
1.05.7047721E (2014-03-10)
1.05.7053654E (2014-03-10) [official changelog]
1.05.7055463E (2014-03-11) [official changelog]
1.06.7079023E (2014-04-07) [official changelog]
1.06.7095932E (2014-04-08) [official changelog]

The last character denotes the region area of one's own game. While this can change across different regions, the rest of the build number should remain the same. Starting from GT6 1.02 this got changed to a letter (for clarity, I guess).

1/? = Japan?
2/E = Europe
3/A = America
?/B = UK (B as in "Britain", "British" ?)
?/H = Hong Kong/Asia?

Perhaps other things can be decoded from this information. For example, the 1.0/pre-release build number of GT6 began with 68 instead of 69.

I will try updating this thread as new game versions/builds (through hotfixes) come out. It would be useful if people from other regions posted their version number as the game gets updated as well, in order to have some redundancy in the process (I might not always be able to post the current build number in time until the next patch/hotfix gets released) and see if there will be differences between different regions.

I guess the thread title might cause some confusion (but attract visitor as well!).
By the way, to add some discussion: did anybody notice how much the build number with today's patch got bumped up since the last 2013 one?

1.02.6935117E (2013-12-19)
1.03.6964525E (2014-01-14)

While no changes were apparent from the latest patch, this could mean that internally, at PD's studios, many new features or addition might be under very active development, just waiting to be released/enabled.

Not sure about that last letter as mine is an A here, possibly A is for America?

That is a lot of build numbers, shows they have been very busy.

I think you're right, I edited my post.

I just remembered that the character at the end can be a "B", but I'm not sure if that's the new code for what previously was "1".

Good idea! Looking forward to it... I'll try to check the version number of mine. (LATAM version - Latin America)

My numbers the same, but ends in a B

I'm in the UK... so I don't know.. maybe Britain?
So, there's an UK-only version of the game. I guess it's the same as the European version, but without languages other than English built-in.
SCEE often strip out European languages from the UK version of their first party titles in order to limit sales to other EU countries from online UK retailers.

Today's hotfix bumped up the build number quite a bit.

You can see this in the following graph. It's the latest datapoint:

A little remind : even if the number grows big, it doesn't neccessarily means a lot of bugs have been fixed. This surely includes nightly builds and "not so bug-fixable" builds :dopey:

Yep, it just potentially shows how much PD are internally commiting code, it doesn't necessarily mean that those changes are going to be in the actual game users are playing.
By the way, there was another update today. The build number didn't increase much this time: 1.03.6976018E

@shirakawaa , you pretend to keep track of only the numbers? Maybe doing a mention about the fixes that people could notice in these version changes could be interesting. 💡

Who knows what PD actually fixes or introduces with each micro-update.
I don't think I'm able to keep track of that too without investing significantly more time than I do just for the build number.

The build numbers are going up quickly for sure. This tells me that they are tweaking and testing a lot. Typically every compile increments the build by 1. That is showing ~ 2,000 builds in 2 days! they must be very busy tweaking and testing something for sure.

I'd say that making a correlation between jump in build numbers and amount of effort put into coding is highly speculative, as we have no idea what kind of procedure PD has for creating deliverables. But keeping track could still have a use, especially as time passes and updates are less frequent. Maybe we'll notice when GT7 gets priority.

It's kind of interesting. If you do the math and assume the build number is increasing by one each time it's recompiled, then you get almost exactly one build every minute since initial release (1.02 builds per minute to be exact). It does also follow a fairly linear trend line. But honestly the most likely case is that there is an auto build feature every minute that keeps an up-to-date backup of some sort. The .02 part is most likely human-interacted builds. Just an idea.

It's an interesting exercise, and whilst in isolation we probably can't deduce too much from just the numbers yet, but it will be interesting to see if the gradient of the curve steepens or lessens over time, and whether the steps around the updates get bigger or smaller.

Are you still tracking?

I missed the build number for 1.05 update, but have the two ninjas that followed

1.05.7047721E
1.05.7053654E

Yes, I am, although I have not played GT6 very much in the past few weeks.
1.05 update was 1.05.7040189E
